A serious safety hint kids. When driving on a freeway with multiple lanes cars will creep up in your blind spot. ( about parallel to your sliding door. ) - so when changing lanes put indicator on for minimum three seconds and take extra care to search that blind spot in your mirrors. Vans are different to cars because of reduced visibility so look into your mirrors often.
This inspires me to do my own van trip. The rawness of the vlog gave us a real glimpse of potential issues we could face. Really great and enjoyable video.
Hi I just came across this channel and am currently watching it till you both stopped at Hopkins Falls. At 34:47 I just wanted to mention that I stayed with some friends at that house in the background a few years ago. Ok... back to watching... thank you for showing us your trip! I hope to do this one day! Enjoy!
I recently bought a van and drove it 2,200 km in Australia. Although my van is not a camper van like yours, but its a very nice and big van for work and newer model too. I had the same great feeling driving it all those kms and sleeping in it for 2/3 nights. you sit quite high and yet the steering is very nice and light so makes manoeuvring easy to handle.
Did a Perth, Adelaide, and Sydney trip a couple of years ago. In February so I didn't take any winter clothing. After my first night in Adelaide, the first thing I did in the morning was go buy a jumper. Then the weather warmed up, and it was several months before I needed warm clothing. The temperature can be unpredictable in Australia.
Great video, with a natural feel to it. Good photography and I am sure as the trip continues, so will your experience. Just a side note that many people do not realize . When turning on a gas bottle you only need half a turn, it is not like a tap. In an emergency it is only half a turn off. The valve does not need to be opened fully. Drive safe.
Hey, I really enjoyed watching your travel experience in a motorhome. Being a couple that can still stay very healthy and prepared is defiantly something that makes the trip a lot more enjoyable. I look forward to seeing an update on your fun.:3
Great video guys! I watch a few travel vlogs and this is one of the best! Love the detail and all the places you stop at, meals etc Plus an hour long is great! Can't wait for the next one. Keep having fun guys and never forget how lucky you are to have each other 😊
We picked up an old flying Drs ambulance and did a conversion on the cheap. We are constantly adding to it as we can afford to. The ambulance cost $28.000 and it cost us even on the cheap $6000. That included us having the electrics looked at by an auto electrician. We got a a cabinet from IKEA to convert into a kitchen. I only had three weeks to convert it. So everything had to be basic.
I am from Indonesia and a fan of your journeys. I do hope u gain more and more subscribers (maybe activate the auto generated Indonesian translation to reach more Indonesian audience that can't speak English?) . Really like your videos. And this one is one of the best 👍❤ Can't wait for the next episodes!
I just discovered your channel. Great to see you enjoying our beautiful country. I have a van similar to yours and it cost $100k. Not cheap but an older one can be around $50k. We love vanlife.

Chiming in from Perth & have watched your vids over the past yr or more & very entertaining with a great attitide to embracing life. My son has 06 Ford Transit Van (white) that is petrol (better than diesel for power/torque & maintenance costs) with low kms (like only 150km) and in perfect cond. He had it as a tradie van for while but now works FIFO on the oil rigs & the van just sits parked up at their hse. Building out a van DIY is not hard & tons of info on YT. All you need is basic tools from Bunnings. I am sure he would part with it for aprox $12k
Thanks so much for the info! That’s super helpful as a reference if we decide to build our own van in the future! Pretty sure I’ll be glued to RUclips tutorials for everything, haha. Honestly, it sounds like it could be a lot of fun to build one!
Who cares about the dull rainy weather when there was plenty of sunshine coming from the both of you. I enjoyed your first van adventure here downunder. :)
I've been looking into vanlife for the last 8 years... haven't pulled the trigger yet because my wife refuses to 💩 in a bucket. Basic cargo vans run $40K-$70K. At the upper end you can get a Mercedes Sprinter 4x4 cargo van. To build it out, there are companies that can do it for $20K (minimal) to $80K (pretty nice). One like yours that is built out will run $120K-$180K (new). US pricing. If you don't mind not standing you can build out a minivan, you have a HiAce in Aus? These are not as comfy and probably best for 1 person.
Thanks for the insight! We’re in the same boat, torn between saving by going secondhand (loads of options on Facebook Marketplace) and the risk of repair costs, which aren’t cheap here. New, pre-built vans are pricey, so we’re leaning toward a DIY build. It’ll definitely be time-consuming, but honestly, I think it might be fun?!🙃
I’m new to your site and loved watching you both and look forward to the rest of your trip, you will most likely get sick of my comments before you finish. Good luck.
Try to get a used Mercedes T1N sprinter van. Get the year before 2006 and older. Its diesel engine is very reliable. You can still get those from Europe.

checked the site. so it is roughly $500 a day for a minimum of 10 days. That's quite some money. That said, you save the bill for a room, which is roughly $100 a night. You can cook in the van, which, in Australia, could be more expensive.
