Bio: Ruslan KD is a Christian RUclipsr of Armenian descent who was a refugee from Baku, Azerbaijan, before moving to the United States as a child. He started his RUclips channel in the mid-2010s, which has since grown into a popular platform for discussing faith, lifestyle, and music. Known for his insightful commentary on Christian living, culture, and personal development, Ruslan has built a community of followers who value his thoughtful approach to contemporary issues. In addition to his RUclips presence, Ruslan is a speaker, author, and advocate for godly ambition, often addressing topics related to leadership, mental health, and the integration of faith in everyday life.
Our mission is to encourage, empower, and inspire people to live a life that Blesses God, in accordance with His word. As the Psalmist proclaims, "Bless God in the great congregation, the Lord, O you who are of Israel's fountain" (Psalm 68:26 ESV), and "Every day will I bless Thee; and I will praise Thy name forever and ever" (Psalm 145:2 KJV). Just as Simeon, after encountering Jesus, "took him up in his arms and blessed God" (Luke 2:28 ESV), we seek to lead others in a life of stewardship, relevant engagement, and practical living that honors and blesses the Lord.

I guess since I am a 50 yr old white woman I could have easily gotten the message wrong. I actually bought a Righteous and Ratchet shirt from Lecrae several years ago so he’s had that in his merch for quite awhile. Why’d I buy it? Because just because I’m a saint don’t mean I’m perfect and I am sinless or within that chance of being a bit puffed up, rude, cynical or speak things that I need to retract cos I was being “ ratchet. “
I can only speak on my own perspectives and my personal culture as someone who’s falls short but is forgiven and shown grace and mercy. I try, I work at it, but I’m not gonna be able to hide what I am, and why should I? If the people that I’m living around and witnessing with can relate to that and they feel inclined to discuss the shirt what is it that is wrong. Lecrae is representing his best 116 life. I’m not ashamed to know Christ and all He has and will do for me even though I fall short.
If people are upset because I don’t look like their idea of a Christian or I might listen to Lecrae and the ladies be thinking I’m crazy cos what kind of music they identify with is certainly NOT hip hop, well that’s their picture. I’m just trying to be a 50 yr old white woman who found Lecrae because of a time he was heading into my town and we don’t get much Christian concerts. I also found Switchfoot, but Lecrae shaped me and hit me and it ain’t been the same since. I found his music to keep me pushing as i raised up my grandson when he was wee. Now I’m facing my biggest challenge and that is blindness. As my eyes dim I find strength I the fact that I am ratchet, I am strong and I am ABLE! Best of all, I AM FORGIVEN. I can walk out into this world knowing that there is music for every step in our lives. Most days I need the power I get from Christ in Christian hip hop and vessels like Mr LeCrae.

I agree with Dee-1 completely!! We definitely have a "culture before Christ" ideology. In the black community, we are literally taught from a young age to "wear our blackness with pride" and stand together in unity with other black people (no matter what). It's that exact pride that is leading the culture down a dark path. We've made blackness into a idol.

    • @MattRomPsalms

May I ask, how old are you?
I am black but for me and where I come from, this was never the message. Never the slogan, the motto, none of that.
For me and what I have experienced thus far is people turning away because of hypocrisy. And I can’t blame them for that per say.
But I have always wondered how, as black people, can we put God back in His rightful place in our lives and community.

@@MattRomPsalms I'm not sure how my age relates to this subject and I would prefer not to say.
However, I can tell you that I grew up in the South in the United States. The message from my parents and grandparents was basically being a black person in America "is hard" and the world is against us, that we have to work twice as hard to get what we want out of life (compared to other races), and that because our ancestors were slaves we need to hold on tighter to our black identity.
I'm more so speaking about the ideologies that exist in black America. From my perspective, these ideas are really prevalent in African American culture. I understand things are much different for black people from Africa or the Caribbean.

All barriers before Christ keep you from truly knowing Christs plans for your life.
Placing race, gender, wealth, poverty, anger, promiscuity etc before Christ is a lie from Satan.
We have a invitation for ALL people to identify in Christ First and foremost.
So when the mind goes to that old programming remind yourself Christ is first.
Read the Word daily and understand what those attributes Christ spoke about even mean.

Facts! I’m Blackety-Black-Black. And what irks me is that so many within and without the Black community hold the erroneous view that Black culture is synonymous with ratchetness. I see this error being committed by uncharitable critics of Black culture and undiscerning proponents of ratchetness.

    • @qwnpngwn672

From a non black american perspective, it so sad to see the transformation of black culture into ratchetness, but looking to vintage photos videos and magazines from the not so distant past it was much more dignified. Women looked lovely, men serious and presentable even poorer blacks. Now in pop culture black women often dressed as porn stars. Of course the american culture as a whole has declined in its dignity though

Jamie tells such good stories! 😄

@@qwnpngwn672 Your comment actually espouses the view I’m critiquing.
Black culture HAS NOT transformed into ratchetness. ASPECTS of Black culture may have transformed into rathchetness, but such a claim is not true of the entirety of Black culture. The same could be said of American culture. ASPECTS of American culture have lost dignity, but the entire culture has not.
Based on your comment, your view seems to stem from your assessment of how Black culture is presented through media and pop culture. If that were my primary experience of Black culture, I’d agree with you 100%. But there’s much, much more to Black culture than these myopic depictions.
The dignity you mentioned still exists within everyday, boots-on-the-ground Black culture with real-life Black people. It just doesn’t get the same $$$ push as the ratchet stuff when it comes to media and pop culture.

What irks me is how many don’t see the context of backdrop of Lecrae going up against the bad faith critics among non black Evangelicals. In particular it’s those who Lecrae has been calling out for years for displaying the same poor character of the clergy and white moderates that Dr King described who don’t want any convo in the church about acknowledging let alone addressing racial issues. The same ones in bad faith participation of a culture war trying to even remove the discussion of systemic racism in the past let alone any acknowledgment of the remnants of it in the present. It’s against that backdrop which requires Lecrae to have more nuance than most and why he may be more prone to reflexively defend elements of culture aesthetically while not condoning sin.

    • @ugochib
      @ugochib Год назад

@@truthbearer7891 I hear you on all of that and see where Lecrae might be coming from. That said, as the OP implied, ratchetness is only one aspect of black American culture which is ever shifting as well (at least outside of what mainstream pop culture pushes). I also don’t see why we can’t fight against and preach about systemic racism without co-signing one aspect of an entire culture. The reflex against talking about it at all is definitely rooted in some nationalistic and patriotic eschewed view of Christianity that worships two gods (Christ and The United States) and doesn’t dare to be critical of certain structures in America without it being seen as an attack on faith as well.

I know these types of conversations are always going to happen because we have to try and navigate living in this world while also following Jesus.
However, this type of conversation presupposes that there is way in which we can behave to be righteous. Being ratchet, consuming alcohol, drug use, fornication, cursing, etc. vs being straight-laced, sober, chaste, etc.
But the reality is, none of us are righteous. Not a single one. The ratchet person twerking online and the virginal, modest nun are equal in sinfulness. All of us fall short of God's standard. Only God is righteous, only Jesus lived a righteous life.
This is imperative for Christians to understand and the fact that these sorts of conversations come up illustrate how many of us really lack understanding of the message of the Gospel.
None of us are righteous, none of us are good. It's imperative that we understand this because it's the only way that we can operate from a place of humility. And this humility is necessary for us to understand the extent of the unconditional, perfect, selfless and sacrificial love that God has for us. Once we understand this, that's when we start to have a real relationship with God. We don't try to act "right" to be righteous; rather, we truly feel secure in God's undying love for us and as a result, we naturally become more loving, more selfless, more forgiving.

The disconnect here is that Lecrae and Dee1 are probably operating out of different definition as to what they would define as ratchet. I think dee1 is saying all ratchet is bad, but there’s some parts of being ratchet that is just what it is. For example, if I wake up walking out of the house wearing PJs and and hoodie with my house shoes to work, I might come off as ratchet, but is that not righteous? It’s semantics from this point.

    • @KingPinguofDingu
      @KingPinguofDingu Год назад +2

It's more grey than that in my opinion. Some would say that walking into work in such unprofessional attire in itself isn't really God glorifying. While it probably isn't directly sin, it isn't action that is edifying or glorifying towards God. People say that you have to show excellence as a witness to Christ, wherever you may be, workplace especially being one of those places. So some might consider you walking into work with unprofessional attire (unless it's a workplace that's actually fine with such attire and doesn't call for professional attire) would in itself be not righteous.
In terms of my own stance on the matter, I'm not too sure, but I think I lean more with Dee1. I think each situation is different through, and you have to look at the context of the situation to be able to discern what is best. Like the ratchet clothes to work example you gave. If I was working at professional business setting, and I came into work like that, I think it's disrespectful and not showing my excellence in Christ. But if the work I was doing was much more casual work, and I'm not working with customers directly, then I think it's fine in such a context to walk to work in clothes like that. Context matters is basically what I'm saying.

I feel like ratchet, whilst it can _include_ superficial things like clothing choice, someone can't be described as "ratchet" without the dysfunctional behaviours that we associate with it.
So while someone may wear a bonnet to the store or dress in a way associated with being "ratchet" if they aren't obnoxious, always causing drama, overtly sexual, aggressive, ill mannered etc they can't really be described as "ratchet."
You get what I mean? We all know someone who's a sweet girl, works hard, studies, doesn't sleep around yet wears ridiculous false eyelashes, bright coloured wigs and goes out in slippers. Is she ratchet? No. But do ratchet women wear those things? Yeah, often.

This discussion about the NATURE of black CULTURE and if it's of God is NEEDED.
We have mastered the dimensions of GOD THATS
    Gods peace side
    Gods love side
Gods vengeance on our behalf side
But we MISS IT when it's time to address his HOLY ness.
We can twerk dance in church out of excitement for Jesus...
Yes it is praise, but is it HOLY?
We can add words that AMPLIFY what God already said in the bible to (emphasise) his already perfect word.
YES it is zealousness for Christ.... BUT OS OT HOLY???
The one aspect that defines what separates God from creation it's self , is this issue of "HOLY"....
    What is HOLY exactly???
We need to discuss this for the sake of a remixed Christianity in the name of culture.
You can still recieve a blessing even if you are wrong which is the most dangerous thing cuz it proves how the principals are so infallible even the Lord Places them above his own name , He places the word above his own name.
You can receive miracles and still get it wrong and Go to the pit...

What I’m trying to figure out is. We have all taken something from the life we use to live that we don’t consider it sin. But when somebody we love who does the same thing is held to a higher standard when practice some type of thing that we don’t consider sin. And my whole issue isn’t that being hypocritical. We throwing stones but we all do something. Imjs

“If you have a misunderstanding of what ratchet entails?”
Dee-1 assumes he has a full comprehension of the term.
When you study linguistics, especially biblical linguistics, you learn that terms definition shifts upon context, exegesis. To assume there is one way to understand a term, demonstrates a lack of awareness of how language works. 🤦🏾‍♂️
How many times has the Bible taken secular words and retooled them for a Godly purpose. I think he needs to study biblical exegesis first 😂

Bruh said he can quote Cardi b and Corinthians and I’m like even yes that may be true doesn’t always need to be said and or glorified when we listen to stuff that does not glorify God. He kind shot himself in the foot and then had merch that was bout to drop called ratchet and righteous like bruh about to had made money off of it. It’s like he just didn’t think it all the way through.
