    Bring back flex for 04+ STI’s. I’ll buy it. Kudos for getting Cobb on the channel Jon.

      Trust me when I say this - We would LOVE to. The main hurdle is cost. Finding a well documented, low mileage car that would be fit for emissions testing is near impossible as they are all upwards of 20 years old at this point. I can't (and won't) say it will never happen, but the business case becomes increasingly more difficult the older the cars get. - Marshall@COBB

      @@cobbtuning my 2007 STi is around 80k miles, clean, and only lightly modified. What kind of documentation is needed? Does it have to be on the original engine, or is a replacement fine?

    Lance tuned my Sti many moons ago. He wasn't perfect but that tune allowed me to beat on that car with elevated power levels for years without worry. When i finally pulled the engine at 90k the engine itself was still in great shape. Just started getting oil leaks. I am very grateful. He certainly knows what he is doing and we should absolutely listen to him.

    Lance said he is an advocate of nextgen support for 04-07 STI, then he corrected that to 05-07 STI. Is there some difference in 04 vs 05, where 04 is not possible?

    What I dont understand, is why they don't market the old flex fuel kits as for "Off road use ONLY". Then push out reminders to the customers that the mod is not EPA street legal, so it should be used at their own risk. I dont know how much legal pressure Cobb was dealing with from the EPA, but the government should not have the right to tell a aftermarket perfomance car part company what they can and cannot sell.

      @beaches2mountains230 7 месяцев назад

      THEYVE EXPLAINED THIS IN PODCASTS OVER AT IAG.. THE STUFF THAT IS LABELED "FOR OFF ROAD USE" IS A HUGE RED FLAG FOR THE EPA AND THEY STATED THAT THE "OFF ROAD USE ONLY " HAS ZERO LEGAL PROTECTION IN TODAYS EPA ENVIROMENT AND SIMPLY WOULD EQUATE TO HUGE FINES FROM THE CORRUPT GOVERNING BODY.

    Awesome video!!! I am learning lots. A related question of ethanol fuel system and the COBB hardware and software; can your gear and software be set up to regulate when an ethanol+water injection system is set to off, on, and then turns off again? I have heard from a few sources that driving very short distances, say between 0 to 10 minutes, with either E30-85 or ethanol+water active from a cold start can cause a black gel like sludge of deposits to build up in the engine and cause major problems. So to clarify, can the COBB hardware and software be set up to engage the use of ethanol+water (in the intake manifold or charge cooler) after a few minutes of initial driving after cold start, when the engine has had a chance to warm up, and then alternatively be manually selected to turn off whenever the driver wants to? Can an existing engine temperature sensor on the car (or added sensor) be used to trigger the start of ethanol+water use when the ECU knows that the temperature is in the correct window for optimal use?

      @MR__JUSTIN 7 месяцев назад +1

      They aren't talking about supplemental fuel injection in this video. They're talking about filling your tank with E85 at the pump instead of gasoline and having that go through the regular fuel system.

      @MR__JUSTIN thank you. I understand their presentation and what you wrote. I am asking about alternative uses of their Cobb gear for a different application using water-ethanol. I will contact them directly, no worries.

    • @fredastaire6156

      I understand the why they hand to do it; with the whole EPA thing and all but what I find reprehensible is that they knew well before selling the flex fuel kits on the GDs that they were going to do what they did. They sold the kits anyways, and then they said, "sorry, all sales are final" No refunds.
      That is not an EPA thing, that is a responsibility that a well-established company that the community loves and trusts has a mandate to abide to and that is why I cannot support this company. If you are a consumer, willing to spend hundreds of dollars (which in this economy is crazy expensive) and know that you do not have a guarantee that you will neither get your product or unbeknownst to you it will become obsolete with no way of getting your money back you would think twice about supporting such a company. No company should be allowed to get away with that; not airlines, hotels, or simple aftermarket third party goods.
      Make a statement with who you patronize with your business and I, for one, will not be supporting COBB in any way.
