Listen to this man ! 35 years into my life and I still looked like a high schooler. I had patches of hair on my face and I was a 6'5 scrawny dude. I ate fast food garbage and I was always fatigued. I'm embarrassed to say that when I began my loc journey - I was more concerned about my hair than my health. I was very careful of what I put in it and eventually I became more self conscious of what I put in my body. I started eating only natural produce, fish, poultry and drinking more water which led to more energy , thus becoming more active with exercising and developing a bigger appetite to fuel it. I've gained weight and muscle mass, my beard has completely filled in and I now wear clothes that fit me. I showed my girlfriend a 5 year old photo of myself and she said " ew " lol. I feel better than I ever have in my life at the age of 38. Some people say it's just hair but this journey has led me on to the path of a more natural and healthy lifestyle.
Good food, healthy lifestyle, water, and (wait for it....) PATIENCE. Live your life more presently and you won’t be so fixated on it, and before you know it, it’ll be down your back!

What an amazing explanation… Everyone on RUclips promotes, Jamaican black castor oil for hair growth… apply to scalp… In reality it starts with what you ingest. This really gave me a new perspective on my expectations while growing out my hair🙌🏽🙌🏽

I believe in what you’re saying somewhat, but not 100%. I say this for very good reason, as well as visual proof. For some reason, as I got older, my hair decided it would start growing at a much slower rate, than it did in my younger years. As a child from birth until 13 years old, I had long hair. From two years old until the age of 13 I had Loc’s. By the age of 13 my Loc’s were down to my ankles with my center tip’s, dragging the ground. At about 13 and a 1/2 I decided to cut my Loc’s. Over the years, I would regrow my hair, and start new sets of Loc’s. I am now on my fifth set of Loc’s but my hair is growing at an extremely slow rate. I decided recently that I would try a new product that I would only apply once a month. Upon doing so I realized every time I applied the product my hair would begin to grow. I thought at first I was tripping, but something told me to test my theory. I decided to break out the measuring tape, and measure my growth throughout the month/months without the hair care product. Two months went by without any growth . Now to compare those previous two months I decided to add the hair care product on the 3rd month. What do you know, my hair grew 1 and 1/16 inch to be exact. After that, I tried the entire process all over again. Once again, what do you know? Little to no growth without the product, compared to a big jumping growth with the product. of course the product I used was in oil that was applied directly to the scalp/root not applied to the length of my hair. I know it sounds unbelievable, but it is 100% true. Not only is it true but I have photos and videos for proof. As I stated above, I don’t doubt what you’re saying partially, but I also know for fact, now that there is a product that can be applied directly to the scout/route that can stimulate hair growth. I love my natural hair. Now that I am over a certain age I prefer shorter hair. I don't dye my hairs or comb and brush them to often. I love touching my hair.
Technically the products that you apply to your hair are supposed to stop your hair from breaking which does help it grow longer technically because it is supposed to not break as much. But you are correct.
Yeah those products supposed to help RETAIN length. Not GROWTH. Retention =/= Growth Thats why people eat those products up. They think ita the same. Retention is still important but many people seem to not understand that retention is not the same as growth. Some people can retain their length but not take care of themselves and body, and their length stays the same for a long ass time, but not growing.

I was told by some grandmas that keeping your hair in braids your hair at night (and as much as you can) will make your hair grow faster. Do you think that is true? (oh yeah it needs to be dry, or else it will get kind of rotty, just like a towel)
