Thank you very much my friend. A week and a few hours from right now I will find out what is next. I know it will not be instant change even if given permission to full weight on that ankle but it will be a start. Gary
Thanks so much Randy. Means a lot to me that these videos are liked. Maybe when I get back to the shop I can make them a bonus. Software Sunday??? Thanks for watching, Gary
Thanks so much Lauri, I am preparing to start physical theory right now so may not have time for something this coming Friday. But if all goes well I just may be able to get to my lathe for the following week. Doing some walking with partial weight. Once I hit full weight bearing i will be good to go. Thanks for watching, Gary
Kudos to you Gary. To have the intelligence to know how to figure all of that out is so beyond my capabilities. It was very interesting, best of luck with your Dr appointment.
Thanks Gary. Your videos are my encouragement to keep plugging away at this hobby. I have MS and it would be so easy to sit in my wheelchair in front of the TV and vegetate. Using your videos I have purchased and learned to use an XTool D1 engraver. I purchased and learned to design your ring cutting tool, segment cutting jig, and segment stop on my Longer 3D printer and am now ready to do my first segmented bowl. I really enjoy your TinkerCad videos. Thanks again, Dave
Thank you very much Dave. Doing what you are doing in a wheelchair is very inspiring and encourage to not only me but anyone else who reads this. I am happy to hear the success you have had making these things after watching my videos. Thank you very much, Gary
Thank you Rick I appreciate your comments. As a kid I used to love the magic tricks. Seems there was things you could buy where you could do some. Not sure I fooled anyone LOL. Take care, Gary
Thanks Ray I know when they say I can stand on it there will be pain. Not moving it for this long it will be stiff. But I sure hope I can do some turning. Gary
Gary, you are such an awesome teacher. I really appreciate your software videos. I hope the doc gives you the green light to get to doing what you love.
Thank you very much Lee. One week from today I will find out if I can start putting weight on that side. But I know it will be slow going even at that. Take care, Gary
Thanks for your explanation of how to use this software. I have dad it for 5 years and all I got from lamination pro was frustration. I think I understand how to use it now.
Glad to hear that your foot is doing better. I like seeing the software tools others are using and especially for these kinds of laminated and segmented pieces.
Gary thanks for showing us this software. You may not know but I am in a wheelchair, and I turn on the lathe by using a tall stool. Perhaps you could do the same for a time untill you get better. Love your turnings and your teachings. Stay safe and good health. Thanks Tim
Thank you Tim and I did not know that. I have a few other viewers that are in a wheel chair do a good job of turning. I figure if they tell me I can put weight on that ankle I will probably try a stool. Thanks for the tip and I am very impressed with what you are doing. Gary
Gary, glad you’re getting better. I personally like these videos. I’m learning a lot about this software from you that I may not have got anywhere else. Thank you for sharing.
I hope your doctor's appointment goes well. I really enjoy these software videos and I'm looking forward to seeing how that pattern is created, that you quickly showed at the end.
Thank you Jim! I have it all plotted out how to best show the next one. I plan on making that video today It will keep my mind off of what they tell me in 3 days. I really feel like it is ready to put weight on but they will be taking X-Rays and let me know. Thanks for watching my friend, Gary
Gary, these videos have been absolutely amazing. The techniques you are teaching are an integral part of wood turning. Looking forward to more like this. At our age, we can't afford to rush the healing process. Take all the time you need to get back on your feet. I will enjoy seeing you back at the lathe but, I'd hate to see you have to give it up because you jumped back in before your body was ready.
Thank you very much Qapla I am happy you are liking these videos. And thank you for your wise words on rushing things. Many of mentioned I have a lot of patience with some of the segmented turning I do. When it comes to being a patient maybe not so much🤔 Thanks for the reminder. Gary
I really liked this video, you showed how to make the feature ring using long boards glued together and cut properly to get a certain look now I just need to remember how and I will keep this video where I can review it, well done and thanks! Cheers Al
Thank you Al. I know for me it becomes much easier to see after the pieces are cut. I was hoping showing those pieces in 3D would do that. Thanks for watching my friend, Gary
Always good to see you videos. Good to hear the ankle isn’t hurting. Funny thing, the older I get, the less it takes to make me happy. Younger Bob, hurry up and get completely healed. Older Bob, it doesn’t hurt much…I’m good. Best wishes for your recovery sir.
Thank you very much Bob. I am doing my best to take it one step at a time for sure. The worst part is in the mornings. Sleeping with that big boot on really is hard. That hurts more than the ankle itself. One step at a time and for now that would also be one foot at a time. Thanks , Gary
Turning is good. Showing how to get ready for turning is better. I love this video content. I wish you a speedy recovery but in the meantime this information is priceless. I have both WTP and LP but sometimes struggle with how to use them. Your presentations help me to use them well. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂
Thank you Glen. Happy to hear you got something out of those videos. I will be doing more along with wood turning as soon as I can get back to it. Matter of fact I have plans to use Woodturner Pro along with a type of turning I have not done. That may be awhile buy it is a plan. Thanks for watching, Gary
I have a hard time watching you tube. I strictly don’t know anything about a computer. But I find your videos fascinating. Please do more just like this!
Thank you Billy and happy you enjoy these. I know two people do not because when looking I see 2 have unsubscribed while watching this video. That is ok because I am doing them for you and others that like them and I am doing them for me. Thank you my friend, Gary
Morning Gary, Another great tutorial which one day, hopefully, I will be able to use. Need to practice the basics first though. Take care my friend. Hwyl, Huw
Thanks buddy! We all need to start with the basics. Like me....now that I have gotten permission to start walking on my bad foot I have to start all over with the basics of walking. Well walking with that big boot on LOL. But it is going well and I even took a walk out to my lathe and saw it for the first time in 2 months. Take care... Hwyl, Gary
Thank you Jon, I guess you can say I am getting a bit restless. Well actually there is no guessing I am getting very stir crazy LOL. Thanks for watching, Gary
Gary , take your time and get better and keep teaching about the software I bought :) I did just finish my first 7 ring + base segmented turning yesterday using less than half of a $10 piece of mahogany from a midwest big box store. I can point out every problem I had and it was a learning experience but now it will be easier next time, and I want to make one big enough for the beads of courage for my next one which my chapter is very involved with. I would have never even tried segmented turning if not for your videos.
Thanks Bryon. I think it is a dream that even after I get to put weight on that ankle I will be able to do whatever I want Sounds like you're having a good time with segments. Gary
Another well done instructional video, Gary! Hey, I bet the guys at Woodturner Pro would pay you for this type of video! I know that is not your goal but, still, it's good to get rewarded for your knowledge. Anyway, good job, buddy! Keep on healing and I know you will be back to your old-self, soon! 😊 Phil
I actually met Lloyd who developed the program a few weeks ago. He lives fairly close. He came to my house and wanted to run a new idea by me. Might be pretty cool. He got a hold of me last year after seeing one of the videos I did back then . I do have a few things he makes to try out once I can get back to the shop. I will be happy to turn a round small 🥣🤪 Thanks for watching, Gary
Gary, a week until turning-that is good news. Glad you’re progressing. I like the computer tutorials especially since I’ve been TinkerCad’ing to design wedgies. Haven’t figured out how to do the specific angles of the trapezoid yet. Wood Turner Pro looks very interesting also.
Thank you Skip. A week before I find out if I can stand on it. Not sure how it will feel doing that so I will just take one "step" at a time LOL If you email me I can walk you through making wedgies on TinkerCad. Just made one and it just takes a simple math formula. Gary
Love these lessons. I just downloaded the software and using the trial period to test it out. One question, what method do you use to cut the final segments? seems like they would be too tall to use a segmenting sled on a table saw.
Thanks Billy, it is easy once you see what it going on. For sure the more Generations of shapes you go to the harder it is and the harder to see it for sure. Thanks for watching, Gary
Thanks so much! I sure do hope I will be able to start putting weight on that ankle. It is wearing me out trying to stand just to get on my roll around chair and the walker. Thank goodness for the knee scooter as it is letting me get out and not be stuck inside. But the boredom is what is wearing me out LOL. Thanks again my friend, Gary
Completely enjoy your channel. The turning community is about to lose a great product. Acks Abrasive Paste needs our help. I've been in touch with Tom from ACKS abrasive paste. They are about to shut down their business due to sagging sales. They are a small mom n pop operation and make/sell a couple of great products at a VERY reasonable price. Fellow turners let's support this small business.
Thank You Gary, Always enjoy watching you create. Take care of that injury and I look forward to your next show... TM
