you know I always wondered why seeking stopped after so much seeking and effort. One dAY after an experience it stopped and I couldn't even make it start again at times I thought: "why has it stopped, maybe I'm just not going to "evolve" or whatever stupid thought comes to mind. When it stops IT JUST STOPS. PERIOD. because there's no reason to continue. There is THIS (my nature) and then there is everything else - is the only way I've been able to describe it. Something "finishes" and that's all there is and you move along and life naturally carries you from one situation to another. So this video is so helpful for so many who wondered if when they "got it" why seeking suddenly just stops.

There's that old adage in spirituality about how when the student is ready, the teacher will appear, and that was never more true for me than it was when I stumbled across Jon's teachings on RUclips. I've listened to lots of spiritual teachers, but none of them resonate with me the way this man's teachings do :-)

So were all the years and years of hard work necessary or was it the old paradox of the harder you seek the harder it is to find? What changed for you?

I try to do this, every non duality/enlightment speakers talks about this: become aware of awareness, but it seems it's not possible. There is something aware of the experiences, that's a fact. But how to become aware of that..... 🙄

Is the awareness that is discovered the real self, the atman, the real pure consciousness, is it really so simple? Or could it be that what is being 'discovered' is just a reflection of the real self, the consciousness of the real self, reflected in the mind, and which is perceived by the real self, which is still unknown to us.

    Question to the speaker.
Why is it that this happened to me. I became aware of myself and everything changed. I felt above my head and in my belly at the same time. It was beautiful and loving and bliss. I felt one without ties. Then it all fell apart.

I'm dealing with the same problem. It feels like I've lost it, and I'm fighting really hard to get it back but they say that struggling to find it is how you put yourself further from it. I just find it hard to do because, before, I didn't know I could experience anything like it, and now I do, so now I am trying to force my way back into that state of awareness, only I know that it's useless because they only way to do it is to give up. It's paradoxical in that the only way to attain it is to drop the search entirely. But it sucks because I just keep running circles around the whole thing, lying to myself, never really going anywhere. It's so frustrating because I know that there is a truth that I am not currently experiencing, but know that I could be. It's worse this time around because now I know that I am unaware, unconscious, which makes me feel worse about the whole thing because I'm basically admitting to myself that I am living in ignorance, whereas before I had the realization that I am simply pure awareness, I was happy living blissfully ignorant. I'm not sure which of the two is a worse position to be in.

Does the shift change ones relationship with loved ones?

That shift can only occur AFTER the discovery of ones true nature, right?!

There is no shift. There are no people. Consciousness is the only one conscious. It takes no effort for consciousness to be conscious. Now is never not now. Presence never vacates its own presentness.

All the great sages/saints from Buddha to Sankara to Ramana Maharshi to Nisargadatta all say that persistence in spiritual practice is necessary. I'll go with their recommendations rather than a theoretical Neo-advaita concept of "there is nothing to be done because it is all consciousness"...

Is that something you know in the marrow of your bones, or is it something you choose to believe? Do you still experience suffering?
