1. I love that so many people inherently associate Tamatoa with Schaffrillas. Mainly cause I'm glad I'm not the only one lol 2. Once you realise that Moana 2, and its very likely planned sequel, began their existence as a Disney+ show, a LOT of the problems with the movie make total sense. I guarantee you that Nalo barely being in the movie despite his role as the main antagonist was intended as a cliffhanger for a theoretical season 2 and they just left it in as is when they turned it into a movie.
Moana 2 would've went so much harder if it stayed a tv show. If you remember it was a show first before watching, you can really see where scenes got scrapped and cut short
honestly, f it. i refuse to believe nalo ISNT the storm. i love the idea that there's just this sentient storm being evil for whatever reason. the human we see is just a vessel that nalo is piloting but he's actually the storm. that's my headcanon now
For the 88% on rotten tomatoes topic, I personally don’t think that website is all too reliable, honestly, it gives most movies above a 70, even the really bad ones
It's super ironic how the protagonist is arguably the biggest jerk ever in polynesian mythology. He's known for stealing (as seen in the first movie), but also known for deception and straight up just exploiting his powers, with his death being... deserved. If they were to make anyone an interesting (or canon and accurate) villain, it would've been him- and I wish his neutral moral alignment as a hero was played on more instead of just chalking it up to a sense of pride that gets resolved extremely quickly before he becomes 100% a good guy. Imagine if he was true to his character and the two protagonists had to overcome their differences, with Moana also sporting some flaws besides being quirky (maybe he's insanely jealous of her healthy relationship to her family considering his abandonment and Moana visibly resents him for putting hers in danger). - Both change for the better in a scene where Moana gains sympathy for him after seeing his tattoos (which is a wasted *insanely* good symbolic depiction of trauma never completely going away!), and Maui understands WHY he was wrong to steal the heart other than the immediate consequence of everything decaying. - Bonus: In the movie, the heart creates life- he could've stole it to try to create an illusion of family for himself. He understands the destruction he causes and willingly wants to return it now. (In the movie it was never completely fleshed-out very well why he suddenly had a change of heart.) - Cute wrap-up addition to the end- Moana's home village "accepts" Maui and we see characters at the end interact with him like family- Slapping him on the back while he helps ready the boats (very common casual greeting in polynesia), including him at the table for a meal, maybe even attending Moana's ceremony- he finally found his "family" and community and the scars he carries get lighter (and justifies his change of arrogance) while still maintaining his fun personality and dynamic with Moana (who is also taking on a big role of responsibility and will also change). LOTS of potential for fun interactions even after both characters develop. - Now the characters go through an an arc instead of having 0 conflict until the story demands it and then insisting it's resolved by the end. Wait, that's too complex for children under 5 to "understand", involves actual chemistry between characters, doesn't completely deface the mythology and would involve making unique characters for once..Nevermind.
Nalo Design sucks by the way like it looks like a joke why dose he even have a human form if he hates humans it makes no sense also his reason for hating them makes no sense at all

Probably, she had a more a interesting character, despite technically having no emotions and she was more of an obstacle then a antagonist, but she was still written well
Disney wants to milk this cow until it has no more milk, that's why Nalu wasn't a villain in this film, now they have the excuse of using him for a third film which is more than inevitable.
3:37 Not that I disagree the handling of the villain was trash here, but… he isn’t a demi-god… he’s a literal god… from actual mythology just like Maui
I thought the first movie was okay, would make a fun world in Kingdom Hearts. Just took my 3 year old to go see this on Saturday. It was his first movie in theatres, ever. And he enjoyed it, he actually sat down and watched the whole thing. I was amazed. So that's a huge win in my book. My wife told me that apparently this was supposed to be a series, but it was instead condensed into a movie. That makes a lot of sense, the adventure and concept of her having a crew took priority over the antagonist, and the entire film as a whole. It definitely felt more like a transitionary period existing soley to set up new characters, a new villain, and new lore that the next film can utilize. Instead of it being a self-contained movie that simply brought us back into the universe. That doesn't really excuse it, because imo even if it is intentionally setting up a sequel, that movie should still have all the elements of a self-contained film. If it was a series then diverting time to set up new characters, and villians makes more sense, because you have the time to do so. This film did not have the time to do what it wanted, clearly. The music also just didn't have the same catch, but I think allowing new composers to try their hand instead of always just relying on Miranda, is a good thing. Even if this film specifically, suffered as a result. I do think my expectations were much lower your own, hence why i am not as upset, but my toddler enjoyed it, so that's something for me to like about it.
Why don't you go help start a movement (by either uploading videos, or posting topics at forums, or both) to convince Disney to redeem "Moana 2" by finishing and releasing the full series as originally intended? You could mention that Disney doesn't even need to change the title, just give it a subtitle that distinguishes it from the theatrical version.
the post credit scene gave me a game changing idea for disney…hear me out……they should start making crossover movies with the main characters from different films, Imagine the potential
I think Nalo failed to establish itself as a Villain because it is a FORCED villain. Maleficent, Scar, Gaston, Jafar and many other iconic Disney villains has VILLAIN SONGS. Matangi had her own song. Other villains has a clear motives, but they're hatred of the main character as a whole. Nalo has that same hatred, but He lacks proper motive to even fight Moana. Yeah, He killed her, but as a form of defense for his curse. Not as Maleficent purposely killing Aurora, or Ursula wishing to harm Ariel. Last is each villain has Boss fights. Nalo is, Fortunately has a very good boss fight. However, I think He needs introduction, villain song, a CLEAR motive and purpose in this film. I'm glad the third film is more centric on Moana's revenge. Making Nalo's motive clearer.
I really enjoyed your video about Nalo, I was so excited to see what Nalo is going to be but after learning that he doesn’t have screen time and it made me disappointed, and I decided that I want to retell Moana 2 and make Nalo a very terrifying villain since he’s a storm god
I know nothing about you or your channel, but beginning the video with an Avenue Q reference, specifically a reference to my favourite song in the whome thing, is starting off on the right foot.
(i watched moana 1 right before going to the cinema for the sequel btw) i loved Moana 2. i think it's only a little worse than the first one. but i didn't expect a sequel to something as perfect as Moana 1 tbh. i think the villans were one of the worse points of this movie (especially bat lady) but still not that bad for me. i'll edit this after i finish this video to say if i agree with it or no. Edit: i agree the bat lady was really fucking useless and fight with "Zeus" could be better. i think Maui is a bit underpowered and should defeat the bat lady. fortunately i missed the post credits scene in my first watch. sadly i checked it and it fucking sucks ass. this scene on it's own knocked this movie from 8/10 to a 6 or 7/10. yea it has more flaws than i originally seen. but i still like it. ngl Moana 2 still left me positively suprised. i walked in there expecting another rise of skywalker so my expectations weren't high. good video tho. (idk why ppl are complaining bout the songs i loved almost all of them)
The only positive thing that came out of the movie was the mid credit scene because it heavily implies that Tamatoa will FINALLY play a bigger role in the 3rd movie.
Yeah, an MCU post credit scene was honestly the last thing I expected out of Moana 2 of all places, and it just feels off for a Disney movie like Moana

i genuinely forgot all of the characters names literally immediately after leaving the theatre
9:25 I think you got your numbers
"Romances" with a scene of deadpool and wolverine is so accurate i cackled 😂
1. I love that so many people inherently associate Tamatoa with Schaffrillas. Mainly cause I'm glad I'm not the only one lol
4:22-4:26 is the BEST PART. Also we need Schafrillas to voice Tamatoa in the (unfortunately inevitable) Moana 3
Booting Jermaine Clemante off of any cast feels like treason
honestly, f it. i refuse to believe nalo ISNT the storm. i love the idea that there's just this sentient storm being evil for whatever reason. the human we see is just a vessel that nalo is piloting but he's actually the storm. that's my headcanon now
2:00 she literally said that Nala or whatever his name is trapped her in the giant clam
Exactly
(In the movie it was never completely fleshed-out very well why he suddenly had a change of heart.)
- Cute wrap-up addition to the end- Moana's home village "accepts" Maui and we see characters at the end interact with him like family- Slapping him on the back while he helps ready the boats (very common casual greeting in polynesia), including him at the table for a meal, maybe even attending Moana's ceremony- he finally found his "family" and community and the scars he carries get lighter (and justifies his change of arrogance) while still maintaining his fun personality and dynamic with Moana (who is also taking on a big role of responsibility and will also change).
Honestly Nalo feels nonexistent to me. When I think of the movie’s villain all that comes to mind is bat lady
So we all agree he used that picture of tamatoa because of Schaffrillas
Yeah I mean what else is that photo from? It’s Schafrillas, who else could it be?
@@Enchanted___ just because he is a huge FAN of Tamatoa, no?😒
Nalo Design sucks by the way like it looks like a joke
why dose he even have a human form if he hates humans it makes no sense
also his reason for hating them makes no sense at all
He was so forgettable, Schafrillas didn’t even bother to mention him. Tamatoa should’ve been the main villain 😔
4:22 4:26 Bro. The uter masterpiece I had just witnessed will forever change how I see the world around me. It's the gift of compensation. A show true care for wanting to make up for an inconvenience. It's a great tell of love this man has to give. Thank you for the gift of love!
Is it safe to say that the squid like robot from The Wild Robot is more menacing, entertaining and more of a threat than anybody in Moana 2?
Probably, she had a more a interesting character, despite technically having no emotions
and she was more of an obstacle then a antagonist, but she was still written well
@@leoultimaupgraded9914 I still consider her an antagonist compare to matangi
Disney wants to milk this cow until it has no more milk, that's why Nalu wasn't a villain in this film, now they have the excuse of using him for a third film which is more than inevitable.
WOLVERINE AND DEADPOOL BEING ROMANCE IM CRYING THATS GENIUS
When you remember that this "movie" was planned to be a TV serie first... It explains a lot about how much of a mess the whole plot seems to be.
Gonna be honest, I saw that thumbnail before the title and thought that this video was trying to cancel Schaffrillas lmao
Man, 4:22-4:26 was really well put together, great job explaining what made the writing for the villain bad so well! kudos
3:37 Not that I disagree the handling of the villain was trash here, but… he isn’t a demi-god… he’s a literal god… from actual mythology just like Maui
Bruh, last time i saw one of your vids you had barely above 1k i think. This is making me proud
Guy put Schafrillas in the thumbnail, so I have to give a like, a comment, and a share :3
I slept through half of the movie with my family.Good thing I didn’t miss much.
Deadpool and Wolverine being labeled as romance is perfect
4:22 - 4:26 Holy crap this is the best part of the whole channel 😱😱😱😱😱😱💯💯💯🕳️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
6:06 thats called the heroes journey but i get what your saying and agree
I like how when he talked about romances in the beginning, it was just Wolverine and Deadpool
Why didn’t the crab yell at Matangi to simply shoot Moana with a dehydration gun?
The lava demon (Angry Te' Fiti) had much more personality than that villain.
Change my mind
The video did numbers, poor bro can’t get a break 😔
I couldn't even hear the post credit scene because the speakers had a problem, lol😂
TBH, his explanation of the climax of both movies really just explained the climax of almost all movies.
Honestly, shouldve been a show, multipel hours with bat lady until the last episode with the lightning guy to set up up for moana 2 would be decent
im so glad im not the only person who thought enchanted was about to roast schaffrillas for some reason
4:22 to 4:26 is the best thing ever.
Now can I see my family again? It's been 5 years since you've taken them.
… Fine, I guess you can do that. Thanks for the comment, you’re free to go
@@Enchanted___ It's literally been 2 minutes, how often do you monitor this comments section?
@ I check RUclips studio pretty often or whenever I get bored so I see most comments posted
the post credit scene gave me a game changing idea for disney…hear me out……they should start making crossover movies with the main characters from different films, Imagine the potential
Why was that chess analogy so real though- 😭😭😭
“No, we are just getting started” -Said the worst voice acting I’ve heard in my life
0:28 I love how you putted deadpool in a "romance" cathegory
Wild Robot is a timeless masterpiece 🎉
At least they’re actually doing villains instead of that era of seemingly constant twist villains.
We honestly need a tamatoa series
Romance- *cutely inserts clip of Deadpool and Wolverine*
Your Transformers 1 take is absolutely true also 4:22 to 4:26 is the absolute best
I really enjoyed your video about Nalo, I was so excited to see what Nalo is going to be but after learning that he doesn’t have screen time and it made me disappointed, and I decided that I want to retell Moana 2 and make Nalo a very terrifying villain since he’s a storm god
4:22 - 4:26 has more interesting visuals than Moana 2
I can't believe they shamed Schafrillas like that
8:14 I mean, you could have them use the weak power in very clever, or even terrifying ways if you’re good enough at storytelling
Welp, there goes all my villian ideas
A mysterious island surrounded by purple lightning...
What is this? Ninjago S14?!
The island? At least jay was in it and so were the rest of the ninja
This comment made me bust a gut laughing. Thank you.
Thank you for this
Plot was weird, however the animation was actually pretty well made
I know nothing about you or your channel, but beginning the video with an Avenue Q reference, specifically a reference to my favourite song in the whome thing, is starting off on the right foot.
Glad someone understood the reference
That hair would make a yugioh protagonist cry
Moana Cinematic Universe
LET HIM COOK!!
Yeah, an MCU post credit scene was honestly the last thing I expected out of Moana 2 of all places, and it just feels off for a Disney movie like Moana
3:50 i love how the crab from the first movie is known as shafrillas productions 😭
romances for deadpool and wolverine is insane 😭, also wild robot was nice thank god it wasn't at the bottom of ur list
hopefully moana 3 is fire with moai and bro clashing
We didnt get to see the villian until the post credit scene....
