As an actor and a participant in a lot of commercial production, I was curious how they got the owls to appear to be speaking.... so I did a little research..... and it's an owl behavior that they use to keep themselves cool called Gular Fluttering, where they're ejecting hot air by that movement of the throat where they appear to be speaking, so that the announcer's voice could be dubbed over. It's actually very clever......but you need a warm owl to elicit the behavior.
