I started and ran a rescue and rehabilitation organization for many years for orphaned and injured wild animals. We dealt with many different animals but birds of prey especially owls were the most common. Anyway a barn owl came through that had been hit by a car and its wing was broken in a way that couldn't be fixed which meant he couldn't fly anymore. So we couldn't rehab him and release him back into the wild which was sad (this rarely happened as most of the time we were able to fix their injury and release them back into the wild). So instead he became a part of our family. He was almost like a dog in that he was incredibly smart and affectionate. He would purr when I would get home and do this little head dance because he was so excited to see me. He would curl up on the couch and watch tv with me. It was truly an amazing time in my life one that I consider myself extremely lucky to have been able to experience. His name was Hootie! I miss him terribly still to this day! 💖🦉
Awe, what a beautiful story. I just went outside and one hooted at me. He's at my house, either my roof or by a bush, but I was afraid to investigate. I was beginning to wonder where the lizards went.
Gosh owls are just so silly. I love them so much, they give off such majesty and sometimes look like they aren't even from earth. All the while just being silly little beans.
We have a couple resident Barred Owls on our property. I hear them hooting quite regularly in the early evening and into the night. I was lucky enough to capture a photo of an owl couple on a branch as they were watching me work on my truck and talking back to my hoots. I love them.
I once skipped school to go fishing and as I was walking back uphill from the river to my car I saw an owl on a branch about 40’ away, stared for a bit at its beauty then kept walking. When I got about 20 yards away it flew to another tree about 10 yards in front of me and kept staring, kept walking and he did it again… then I ran lol something about that 5’ wingspan and talons scared the teenage me but it was a magical experience
That is absolutely crazy. The only encounter ive jad with an owl was: me and my dad had just gotten home from a roadtfip in the middle of the night, and when we got out the car (we lived in an apartment back then), i saw an owl perched up on the very top of the apartment building. Luckily, me and my dad had a vlashlight in the car so we got it out and pointed it at the owl, a few seconds passed pf us admiring it (my dad even got a picture) and then, it flew away and into the huge tree behind the apartment building. It was a great horned owl, since we live in SC.
I came here cuz I'm trying to figure out which bird is making noise while I'm walking through the forest at night. It moves so silently that you don't even hear it fly (that's why I'm here, cuz apperantly owls fly silently), the sound just feels like it teleports around the trees😅 I once heard it behind me, I turned around with a headlamp, looked for a while, didn't notice anything, then it made a sound infront of me and really closed, I even flinched a little and I'm not afraid of the forest at night😂 still haven't found the right sound, now that scares me😂😂😂
same thing , different reasons 😭 I've been hearing a weird noise twice or thrice a night for the past 5 days . it's starting to scare me a bit so I'm trying to figure out the source (hopefully it's an animal, cuz none of these owls made the same sound as the one I'm looking for)
I have Owl's in a tree in my yard. They're so tiny and even come out during the day. I had guests up during a cookout & the little Owl dove to her head. Scared the crap out of her but we all laughed. I never knew little Owl's could do the thing's they do until I moved to the country. I love them.
You can say "mystic" if you want to, I don't mind. They're beautiful elusive creatures because they're nocturnal. Owls fascinate me in a wonderful, curious way. I heard one in real life last night for the first time in my life and was lucky enough to record it! I'm no expert with technology which is why I found this video to try and identify what I heard. I didn't quite get a perfect match but my daughter says it is an owl. I want to learn how to upload what I recorded so someone can tell me what it is. 🙂
I used to hear the Eurasian Scops Owl every single night living back in my hometown in Bulgaria, especially during the warmer summer days. Beautifully eerie at 2 am in an empty city park.
Owls are my favorite bird and animal. I heard a pair of dueting (what I believe to be) Great Horned Owls in my backyard last night and came here to identify it :-)
For like a month after moving into our house, they must've had a nest close by, one of the crazy laugh-sounding owls would sit on a little roof overhang outside my bedroom. Right up until catching the little bugger by finally seeing him I was convinced that some creature of the night was stalking us planning to eat us in our slumber. 🦉
That's how I felt when I heard it. I'm sure it's an owl because it does sound like one but I never actually seen it even though it's on top of the trees somewhere nearby.
Probably a barred owl. Their ‘hoots’, which don’t sound like hoots at all to me, are the ‘crazy laugh’ kind. Kinda like a drunk monkey or something lol. I had one that would perch on the fence behind my house and stalk my little dog through the back glass doors. I’m positive if I’d let my dog out during that time she’d have been supper and I’m pretty sure my kids have lost a kitten to an owl recently. Everything needs to eat I guess🤷🏼♀️
I listened to all of these because I was in the woods at night and I heard the loudest strangest owl call. It had a spine tingling quiver at the end. I could not believe something so loud could come from a bird. My uncle believes it was a Big Foot imitating an owl which in Wisconsin Native Americans documented big foot doing that. After listening to these owls I believe him. That sound was nothing like what I heard.
That’s what I thought was happening when I heard a barn owl. I was headed into the house to call 9-1-1 when it became obvious that it was an owl. But it sure did sound like a woman in desperate need of assistance.
I actually have a recording of the Barn Owl, just before dawn I heard these chilling screams below my window, my husband was leaving for work and omgooosh the sound it made when it was startled!!! I almost called 911... it was a horrible experience but a great one too. It was my first time hearing an Owl.
Fascinating!! I have been hearing an owl recently around my house and it’s so cool! I didn’t know there are so many types of owls though.. very interesting video 🦉
The first time you look into an owls eyes is a moment you never forget. The owl is starring right into your soul...No wonder many cultures see them as an embodiement of wisdom
Ravens are smarter. WAY smarter, so take that owls! And eagles absolutely can’t stand owls, as I have seen in a video on WeAreTOP’s channel (abbreviated as WATOP).
I heard an owl trying to mimick a rooster this morning. It was around 4am. No one close has chickens and this sounded like it was in my back yard. I think someone has chickens far off because I can barely hear them off in the distance. So this "crowing" sound had to be a Barred Owl trying to mimic a rooster. So wild!
I live in the PNW and was camping in the woods alone when I had a strange encounter with 2 owls. They made the strangest noises and their eyes were just like black voids. I was hoping to hear the noise they were making, but I didn't find it in this video. It was a very strange noise. Sounded slightly like the alleged bigfoot calls. These owls were watching me and were in my camp, I believe, out of curiosity or something. They were very bold and came very close to me and were just watching me.
Barred owl is definitely what's standing sentry in my neighborhood. It usually hoots and screeches at night, but it just said something at about 11:30 AM. I don't know what it was saying, or who it was talking to. Thanks!

I love that this video doesnt waste your time, it's just owls and their sounds

Thank you CROUCH

Always loved hearing the Barred Owl’s “who cooks for you” calls when I was a kid. Such a fascinating sound
Hahahaha, thanks so much for helping me narrow it down, here in Lecanto, FL. Here it is "Who cooks for you? Who? Who?"

It's a fascinating sound, i heard two going back and fourth nonstop during a nigh-time walk through the woods, and had to stop and admire their calls.
OWL= *Cat with Wings*
Owls attack cats.
Same bird but sounds so different than each other. Like different human communities speak different languages 😄
different breeds like different races
I like how it zooms in on the eurasian eagle owl when it turns around. 😆
