I'm always honored to be part of a TechDweeb video! ❤❤
You're a peach RTD!
You gotta up your mic game!
@@BlherrouI don’t record talking head segments for my channel so it’s not a usual setup.
You mean humbled right.. humbled 🤣
My favorite thing to emulate is TechDweeb. He gets all the ladies.
Runs at 30fps on low settings on my devices. Worth it.
@@TechDweeb The graphics and audio are superb though!
Such a great video Dweeb! Also, thanks as it was a lot of fun to be part of this round table and to hear everyone's answers, more Evil Twin Dweeb ftw!!
You're a peach Klef! Season 2!?!
@@TechDweeb Yes please? And this time, I will fool your audience with my impeccable disguises! 💪
Classic arcade games, all the way; for me that’s the 70s-thru-late 90s. MAME / FinalBurn romset types, version matching, xml dat files, proper naming and scraping in emulators, audio samples, optical and hdd chd’s, the vast variety of custom hardware and control types to be dealt with… all make arcade games one of the most challenging things to get right. But as a poor kid who never had a quarter on hand when running across random cabinets in laundry mats or store lobbies, (and was so unskilled and unpracticed that when I did mooch a quarter, my game was over in no time), being able to play these nebulous monoliths of awesomeness that I used to merely pretend to play in demo/attract mode - now with another credit just a “select” button away - is just indescribably awesome to me.
Yes, I was surprised nobody said mame in the video.
@@strikelightPeople like what they like, and it is admittedly a pain to get things set up just the way you want. But once you do, it’s magical.
@strikelight Agreed. Arcade was KING from the late 70s to mid/late 90s until the CD based systems such as Dreamcast started appearing with their perfect ports.
Same. Arcades had the best games but I almost never got to play them, so it's great being able to play them now. Plus, they're intentionally designed to work well for short play sessions, which makes them easy to fit into the day, a few minutes at a time.
PSA: Tech Dweeb wears orange with black stripes. Tech Dweeb’s evil twin wears black with orange stripes.

Nah , thats minnie the minx in disguise putting on tech dweebs voice
MAME / Neo Geo / Final Burn my favourite systems to emulate as Arcade machines were impractical and super expensive to own back in the 80's/90's unless you live in a warehouse 😂
By and large the OG versions were always best, making emulation of the 8/16 bit ports redundant. (SF2, Final Fight and Shinobi being prime examples)
Plus, the quick pick up and play nature of arcade games is ideal when you only have a few mins to spare.
Great video!
PS. Emulating anything on an OLED TV is all kinds of awesome. ❤️
Early to mid 90s Arcade - the last generation where 2D was the go-to for gameplay and fans still wanted it. Developers had experience with 2D and had to be creative to stand out. They also had to get your attention in minutes if not seconds to hook you.
2000-2010 shmups are the best shmups though
I’m surprised no one mentioned arcade emulation. That’s decades of games to explore and emulate. Everything from old classics like Space Invaders, Pac-Man and Galaga to franchise-defining games like SFII, Mortal Kombat, Cruisn’ USA, and Final Fight. So yeah, give me arcade emulation any day of the week🍷
🎯 Definitely. Arcades were always the cutting edge when I was growing up as a kid.
Haha another awesome video! Glad to see the SNES and GBA get a lot of love!
Yeah this was a really fun one for sure. Some surprises in here I wasn't expecting!
@@TechDweeb Your outtro was golden
I'm sad nobody said Pico-8 :(
Is it even emulation if it doesn't exist?
The guy who I signed on to shout out PICO-8 didn't exist.
pico8 is truly amazing, need to get a device that can play it native
Mr Sujano is the Morgan freeman of retro community XD
100%!
YUS! Playstation! Also Stubb's says Sai-Fon Filter! Hilarious!
Stubbs says a lot of things 😅
Thanks for having me on your video, TechDweeb!
Love these Round Table videos. PLEASE keep these coming.
Keep them coming, TechDweeb! I love the collaboration. This video made me subscribe to some awesome retro game creators. Keep up the great work!
Woohoo! I loved the last one, glad this is here! Really awesome collection of perspectives. GBA and Genesis are my personal favorites. Gamecube honorable mention.
I love them all! That being said, I don't seem able to leave the GBA alone. Its probably the system I've played the most in all my life. I have a huge list og games I'd like to play and I end up playing Pokemon Emerald again, Fire Emblem Sacred Stones or so.
Also, there's something really magical about having a N64 / PS1 game on the palm of your hands that I cannot really express with words, but I love it!
Great video as always.
I love these round table things. I’ve seen a little of all these guys, but this makes me want to check out more of each dude’s videos.
I love PlayStation because it was already old when I got pretty good at games, so I only had like 10 games. Now I have like 200 excellent remaster ish looking games! It’s like being the coolest kid at school.
It's funny that you guys review all these really high end handhelds like SteamDecks, AYN Odin 2, ROG Ally, etc... and then your favorite consoles to emulate turn out to be : SuperNES, GBA and the orginal PlayStation. All of which will run fine on lower end hardware / handhelds. :)
Great video TechDweeb ! It's fun to see you guys collaborate on videos like this ! :)
loving these type of videos with the community
These videos are so great, I can't wait to check out the portion of these channels that I haven't heard of until now.
That's a hard question. I like so many! But if I crank all the systems through my secret formula, I think the platform which gets that magical blend of herbs and spices is probably the PSX. It has a huge and diverse library, looks good, sounds good, controls well, runs well on almost any hardware, and a lot of the games still hold up today even without nostalgia goggles.
oh hell yeah techdweeb, i love these videos
Same! Such a fun series to work on :D
loved this video, great to see people talking about the things they love ❤
Neo Geo AES, always wanted one the console and the games always cost a fortune.
@mrcannonfodder23 Yep! About £200 per game in the early 90's which would be around £520 per game today (adjusted for inflation)
@@dashred74 That's exactly why! Maybe a bootleg system with a 1001 cart!
the collab I never knew I wanted but I sure as hell want it now!
Another fantastic episode of the Retro Round Table! Thanks for including my shenanigans 😂
Klef is an amazing resource for controllers, peripherals, X86, AMD and ARM gaming handhelds. That's a fun surprise addition.
100%! He's the controller king in this space!
Sega CD. Grew up with a Genesis in the early 90s but couldn’t afford a Sega CD.
finally been able to check out how great some of those games were / are. T2 , Lunar and NHL 94 are lovely ☺️
Stubbs reminiscing about demo cd's made me think of the demo cassettes I used to get for the ZX81, ZX Spectrums and later Sam Coupe. they were awesome! (still have a few Spectrum demo tapes from magazines). Also all the demos I downloaded from BBS's or got via snail mail (though my mum was not so happy about the large phone bills lol).
great edits man, craked me up more than once
GBA for the win! Or PS1. Or...well, I'm like Mr. Sujano, I like a certain system to play certain games on. But no matter what I play, GBA always ends up at the top of the heap, it really was a perfect handheld ❤
I’m new to emulation and man, it’s so addicting. There are so many games I want to play from retro systems but trying to get original hardware and games is hard and expensive. Emulating them has been so amazing and being able to upscale with better frame rates gives new life to them. Thanks tech dweeb!
MAME arcade! Acquiring all those systems and games is a lot easier than trying to get just one arcade machine.
My favourite to emulate is J2ME aka Java based phone games, I didn't had any console growing up except knockoff NES in my country, so I mostly played on phones and later pc. There's so many great games made for J2ME phones comparable to GBA and it can even emulate GBA, GBC, NES etc on those old school keypad phones! Nokia even had their own Ngage & symbian based games ecosystem too along with J2ME. It's really underrated among all these retro gaming you tubers disappointingly as hardly anyone features emulation of J2ME, Ngage, Symbian, Flash and DOS games etc in their videos. For so many people their old phones and pc were their retro gaming experience who didn't h a decent consoles growing up and there's so many exclusive gems of games on these platform that get neglected by retro youtubers. I am shamelessly a mobile gamer and I emulate J2ME and PSP most. Thank you.
This series is excellent. Keep it up!
I love this series! 💚
It's a hoot to work on!
@@TechDweebI'm glad! That means we're gonna get more, yeah?
Awesome vid dude. Also, fave system to emulate would have to be the old school arcade games with MAME. Games like Galaga, Gyrus, Gauntlet, Xevious, Exerion and Raiden in no particular order are some of my fave games to play on MAME.
Love these. Great work
I absolutely love this series and hope it has a long run. I was on the Sega side of the tracks for console gaming, so I missed out on NES/SNES/N64/GC. I had a ton of handhelds, so that's where I experienced the Nintendo world. GBA, Lynx, and PSP were my favorite systems. It would be difficult for me to choose only one system, but I would probably answer Game Gear. The screen of the original system was incredibly blurry, and emulation fixes that problem in a major way. Keep doing what you do, and keep and eye out for Evil Dweeb!
Big fan of Retro Game Corpse, everyones favorite gaming zombie
Funny, I got to meet Russ this weekend and we were actually talking about how we both had genesis and nes growing up, and we used to go to friends' places to play SNES, so getting a SNES and collecting as an adult has been a joy. I've been enjoying emulating EVERYTHING, but I've found myself playing SNES and GBA the most.
It filled me with joy to see so much love for the PS1, because that's my favorite system to emulate too! It was my late childhood/teen years system and I really adore all the Tomb Raider and Resident Evil games (yes, even Survivor) as well as the wide selection of first-person shooters and fighting games the PS1 had to offer. I like upscaling my PS1 games to just 2x, since that little bump in graphical quality makes them look the way I always imagined them looking in my head growing up ^_^
Retro Breeze showing you how you can make Sonic & The Secret Rings or The Black Knight good games is SUCH a good point. Great video as always, guys!
Great video. Mine are MSX, ZX Spectrum, and Amiga❤
Love this series 😃👾
It was such an honor to be included in this Round Table episode. Thanks General Dweeb 🫡 I love this content concept.
Thanks so much for joining! Always an honor to share the stage with a fellow GBA enthusiast ;)
Personally I would have to throw a curve ball and say the sharp x68000. A system that never made it to the US but has plenty of fantastic games I never played. It's like a love I never knew I had.
Been getting into emulation ur the goat
I love the awkward moments haha. My favourite is GBA, never had one so the catalog is so vast that it feels it's going to take my whole life to be done with it.
Russ looks like such a sweetie pie lol
I think I liked this one better than the first, but that’s like deciding between two things you love.
Some really good answers and I agree with ps1 and I have such great memories as a kid playing it for hours on end and of course it’s so easy to emulate.
As a member of the dpad on top gang, face system to emmulate is switch, all those sidescrollers on the rp4 plus is a joy
surprised nobody said gamecube!
Another great collaboration video! Mine would be either GBA or Sega Megadrive. Just because of my age mostly. I remember only getting 1 or 2 games a year if I was lucky. Having all the games I saw at Toys'R'Us but couldn't own at my finger tips still amazes me.
Awesome as always
That round table was in need of some weirdo spice like me,I'm witty fun and I speak with an accent and lastly i love to comment on most your videos !!!
This is my favourite series of videos, hands down! Also, my favourite system to emulate is PS1. It was my first ever console, and I have the most nostalgia for PS1.
All my favorite people in one place!! Such a fun video. PS1 really is the king 😃
Neo Geo, because I've never met anyone who actually owns one and I grew up on those cabinets that had 4 games in 1 machine. SNK fighters were my jam back in the day, so when I learned about Neo Rage X, my eyes were opened to the world of emulation and I've never looked back.
Ps1! Duckstation so good
Great 👌 video. My favourite system to emulate is NEO GEO as weren't many released in my region Australia & I use RetroPie console running Emulation Station to play + emulate retro games.
Every system had great games, but my favourite one is also my first console, the Mega Drive (or Genesis for some folks). It's got tons of pick up and play games that you can finish in a short amount of time!
The Steamdeck opened the floodgates for me and, I have been spending way too much money on this hobby 💀I have been rarely playing games just setting everything up and that's half of the fun for me! I really like GBA games though. And Nintendo DS as well! Good video 👍
Indeed...

Racing: Gran Turismo 1 / 2
RPG: Tenchu (Stealth Assassin)
Handheld: AYN Odin 2 Pro

RPG: METAL GEAR SOLID 2 / SYPHON FILTER ( Logan Shadow / Dark Mirror)
Wait a moment, MGS 2 & Syphon Filter are not RPGs
I emulate gameboy (and other systems) on a 55" 4K Sony Bravia TV. But my favorite to emulate overall, maybe GBA, N64, or SNES! They had my best childhood gaming memories!
“Lie berry” 😂
I'd have a few emulators that i play, but the most i go back too is dolphin for gamecube/wii both of my childhood home consoles
Hail to the knights of the Emulation empire! You guys forge the retro hobby to be as strong adamantium! But hey will you invite Vlad next time too asking for a friend ?
Ha! New vid! Let's just click and watch for a little bit! 19 minutes later: oh! It's... over already??
Nice one!
My favorite systems to emulate are the ones I didn't own or ever played when I was younger
The Mr. Sujano outro was excellent haha
might be a odd ball here but I love emulating ds, there are so many games that can run on a single screen or without touch screen, some even let you map custom touch settings to use anolouge sticks for shooters etc, recently been playing super monkey ball touched, played that game a whole lot growing up
My favorite system to emulate is the GBA and PSP ... great job TechDweeb ... I am waiting for the next one
Fun stuff.
I have been discovering GBA games on my modded PSP 1000 recently. They have a pretty decent library, I'm finding.
Shem’s intro is THE BEST 😂 I enjoyed Carey’s point on PS1
The GBA is a really solid answer. One of my favorites to emulate is the PSP... I run that on my Vita. And then I'll show my age by going waaaaay back and reveal that I love emulating the Commodore 64. That thing was my gaming system for seriously like 10+ years, so I have hardcore nostalgia for it... and some of those games are still fun, so I am happy revisiting them. :-)
Dweeb asked Mr Sujano what his favorite system to emulate was and he just said all of them lol!
NEO GEO was impossible for me to get or play other than in the arcades. And The 90s to 2000s arcade games like Golden Axe Revenge of the Death Adder.
I’m very fond of the NeoGeo Pocket Color, the hardware was good, loved the D-Stick, shame it didn’t have a more extensive library. The SNK fighting games had a certain class of their own, but “Turf Masters” and “Fasalei!” were my two faves.
GBA was the King for me though, again the hardware, the SP was so portable and protected its own screen, and I loved the backwards compatibility. Love emulating GBA, I emulate on handhelds so it feels right to emulate handheld systems. Faves being the “Advance Wars” and “Fire Emblem” series, “Final Fantasy Tactics”was great, the “Golden Sun” games as well, the “Zelda” games, “Harvest Moon”, “Ninja Cop” (“Ninja Five-0”), “Mario Golf”, “Defender of the Crown” and I’ve discovered so much more since then via emulation, the GBA is the Cat’s PJs👌🏻
TechDweeb is the ultimate evil twin. We only see his hands - he never reveal his face, he has a cat, that is adorable but also kind of a jerk. And he lives in a darkly lit room(basement), with orange and purple lights, which we know from comics that are the colors associated with villains, and have a bunch of monitors and gadgets Infront of him... What more proof do you need?
What a great video. I'm going with the SNES for all time emulating it's the system I set up on any and all devices followed by the NES. But I think the SNES had the best RPGs and platformers also I'm biased because that's what I had growing up a NES and a SNES
As a kid who grew up with an OG Gameboy in hand (handed down from my mom; I was 7), I never had too much experience with home consoles because of tech issues and parents getting strict with TV time. We had a famicom clone with a 999 in one Cart 😂 and I couldn't play much because our TV only had an RF coaxial in port, no AV so we had to buy the converter and switch from cable to console every time. Which was OK but I was little then and didn't know how to do stuff.
We also had a legit megadrive 2 with a single game and was never followed up. Because games were expensive.
Our neighborhood had these coin operated hacked Super Famicom cabinets which a a plethora of games.
Home consoles never really worked for me because of above reasons so I'm more biased to handhelds and my answer would be the GBA.
My favorite console to emulate would be GBA mostly because of nostalgia as its the console I've had the most experience with.
In addition the coin operated Super Famicom also left an impression so Snes is also up there.
Not everyone including me has access to video games back then, so emulation today for me is like getting to experience the stuff I missed out on when I was a kid. And the memorable ones I've had experience with is more for nostalgia.
My favorite is PS1 great library of jrpg. The ability to upscale up to 1080p can turn an old game into a remaster quality.
It's 11pm where I am and I was just about to go to sleep! Can't do that now
Nice nite!
my favorite to emulate on a TV is NES and SNES, my favorite to emulate on a handheld is GBA...particularly because it's hard for me to find authentic GBA carts that don't cost almost as much as Switch games. I'm super curious about some of the panelists' ability to do things like Wii or 3DS, because believe me I intend to do those someday, especially if my current Wii breaks on me.
I love emulating Ds it has a ton of games and can play on my phone tablet or most ambernic or miyoo devices
PLAYSTATION UNDERGROUND!! I recall that they sometimes (or maybe always?) had TWO discs.
Question for a future episode. If you only had £100/$130 (approximately - current conversion rate for Pound to Dollar) what system would you buy and what games systems would you play on it?
Unpopular opinion: NeoGeo CD
Playstation underground, memory unlocked. Thanks Stubbs. My favorite system is PSP, I had a psp in 2005 when i was in the Army basic training. PS1. Also love Starcraft 64.
Neo Geo
The few non-fighters on that system give you fast-paced and easy to learn arcade sessions without the quarter munching.
I swear Baseball Stars 2 will make anyone think they like baseball when they play it
Battle knights of Retro Gamers 🤴👸
There is a fundamental flaw in this whole concept. True retro gamers don't want a round table. They want to see all those pixelly edges. 😂
I'm surprised that no one picked PSP. Those games seem like they were made to be upscaled and run at 60fps (with cheats).
This is true
love this series and this is a good entry! im a huge fan of Snes and GBA, for similar reasons as everyone else but it has some phenomenal games with not only replay ability but also some fantastic pick up and play. GBA will always be one of my favorites as it was the last of the Gameboys and i sunk alot of hours into my SP in bed playing RPG's and such. Final Fantasy tactics advance and yugioh anyone?
Playstation 2! I didn't have one as a kid, I had a gamecube which I loved, but I always wanted a ps2 as well, so it's a blast to play all of those games
When I get my Odin 2 mini I will emulate PS2, 3DS, DS, GameCube,WII,switch,PC(winlator ext..) also some play store re releases of games like dragon quest or wreckfest or Stardew valley..
The ending was epic =))))))
Mame arcade and 3ds . Playing the original defender, stargate , mr do! And rygar to name just a few.
N3ds because i prefer it to switch right now and it was the first handheld system that my family never had.
