The BEST MLB Player From Every State
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 22 дек 2023
- In this video, I researched and found the best active MLB players from each state. Freddie Freeman is one of the best players from California, which is by far the league's biggest producer of players. If you enjoyed the video, make sure to like, comment and subscribe! Thanks for watching!

Great video! My only suggestion would be including the names of all the players from that state on the screen while discussing so we can see instead of it being fully verbal. Of course for California and the other big states you can't show all at once, but showing the top however many would still be good.
Thank you! I totally would have done that, just was on a time crunch when editing the video and sadly couldn’t do it
For North Carolina just saying Madison Bumgarner, he play really bad with the Diamondbacks but with the Giants he was really good just saying
Excuse me, the lack of mention of Louie Varland as one of the best players from Minnesota is slander and I will not stand for it.
Who? Lmao😂
Love me some Louie V
@@TylerMatvick2001 Wallner crushes baseballs, but Varland has an absolute rocket on the end of his arm. Any dude whose fastball can even hit the lower end of Jhoan Duran's range and has the durability to start (he wasn't starting this year but that's because our starting rotation was such a monster already) is valuable.
The Twins starting rotation in 2024 is probably already set - Ryan, Paddack, Ober, Lopez, and Varland.
Karen
Minnesota isn’t a state
Most underrated baseball YT channel by a mile 🔥🔥
FR
That means so much to me, thank you for the support!
Okay Bobby Witt Jr had a (slightly) better season by WAR but you're absolutely tripping if you're putting him above Kershaw after one good season. Even forgetting that Kershaw, by WAR, is far and away the most productive Dodger in history with a peak rivaled by only the likes of Koufax and Jackie, he still is carrying the Dodgers rotation on his back in his mid 30s.
I thought the same thing how are you going to put a guaranteed Future Hall of Famer before Bobby Witt Jr. I'm not knocking Bobby. Also how are you going to have Verlander on here but not Kershaw.
@@matthewhoribe6585Same with Trout. Relatively speaking (I know starting pitcher vs position player is somewhat apples to oranges) Gallen had better production and finished top 3 in CYA *and* has, for his position, a much larger body of work than Witt who is a 2nd year player, yet Trout won because "he's Mike Trout". Kersh finished 0.7 rWAR behind Witt, and threw the most innings on his team even despite missing several starts from injury. I'm not gonna dismiss the argument nor say they're not all good players, but it's inconsistent rationale for sure.
Bobby Witt Jr. is better than Clayton Kershaw right now and it’s not up for debate. Kershaw can’t stay healthy for a full season. I’m literally Kershaw’s biggest fan, Witt Jr. is just better
Verlander is better than the players also from his state. Can’t compare two different states
It’s not inconsistent rationale. I simply think Bobby Witt Jr. is better than Clayton Kershaw, Justin Verlander is better than Nathaniel Lowe, and Mike Trout is better than Zac Gallen. It’s literally my opinion
george kirby mentioned ❤️
Can u do country?
That is the plan!
Hearing two of my favorite players in your video made me happy! Henderson and BRADISH!!
As a Red Sox fan from NH having our best player being a Yankee doesn't sit right
As a Yankees fan from NH having are best player is amazing
I'd love to see an All-Time list for the 50 states. Like this video, you'll end up with some states where that decision is super hard (my money on the hardest would be California, Pennsylvania, or Ohio) and some where the decision is super easy (Harmon Killebrew for Idaho, for one). Some states would be in the middle like Minnesota, which has produced a number of solid players, but not so many that it's a ridiculous decision. In my humble Minnesotan opinion, you can make a good case for Dave Winfield or Paul Molitor being the best Minnesotan MLB player of all time, with strong arguments for Joe Mauer, Jack Morris, and Kent Hrbeck. You could even go for the deep cut and pick Charles Bender (commonly called Chief Bender), a pitcher from the Dead Ball era born somewhere in North Central Minnesota who was the only Minnesota-born Hall of Famer for decades. Though he was born in Minnesota, he spent most of his childhood at the Carlile Indian School in Pennsylvania. It's where he learned baseball, though it was also a grueling place where Native American boys separated from their families were forcibly assimilated into white culture. You might know the Carlile School because of Jim Thorpe, another talented Native American athlete who was at the boarding school. It's a fascinating story honestly. I don't know how much this has anything to do with the main part of my comment anymore oops.
That's an awesome idea! I'm currently planning out a "best player from every country" video right now too, love these types of videos. Your love for Minnesota sports is awesome. Didn't realize there were that many Native Americans from that state until now. Pretty crazy that multiple pro's went to that school
Ryan McKenna effectively grew up in Maine, went to HS in Maine (Berwick Academy), and his family still resides in Maine if it’s any consolation despite him being born in Oregon
Very cool insight
this guy can't stop making BANGERS HOLY
I agree of George Kirby of New York. As a mariners fan I like George Kirby, he does good a lot and he had the highest strike rate in 2023. 13-10 with a 3.35 ERA and a 172 Strikeouts. His WHIP was 1.04.
Honorable/Bonus Mentions from the US territories:
Washington DC: Josh Sborz
Guam: Sean Reid-Foley
Puerto Rico: Francisco Lindor
Virgin Islands: Jharel Cotton?
Samoa: None
Northern Mariana Islands: None
Given how many views this video has gotten, you should consider doing a part two for countries outside of the US.
Good choices. Very happy to see Springer, Tucker, and Bregman listed.
Go stros
Love the channel LGM
Thank you! Hope they’re able to turn it around in 2024
@@BlakeRobins0n Fingers Crossed 😂
I liked the content, I would recommand you to slow down your rate of speech. As a non english native it's not easy to keep up with the pace ;)
Anyway I would love to know the best player from every country !
Thank you so much for the kind words! I will definitely work on slowing down my speech. I will have that video up some time in January for sure!
Thanks for taking the time and making this great video. A top prospect video from each state would also be cool. Especially looking back a few years later.
Thank you! That's a great idea, got some other similar videos coming out soon
Good video high quality, love to see new creators with unique video ideas like this one!
Thank you so much for the kind words!
No players from Maine, but a coach in my travel org just recently got dropped by the Phillies
that’s wild lol, iirc jeremy peña was actually drafted out of umaine so he’s probably the closest active major league talent from there… as someone from rhode island myself he’s also probably the closest to a decent player we have right now since he moved to providence from the dr during childhood lmao
fun video, thx for the content!
Thank you!
Eh, judge healthy is pretty good but healthy seasons are a rarity for him (see every season besides 2022).
Freeman is the definition of consistency and will be in the HOF when it’s all said and done. Judge may end up in the Hall of Very Good but the dude simply can’t stay healthy.
Believe it or not, Judge has put up 3.9 more bWAR than Freeman since 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018 and 2017. It’s pretty crazy honestly
thank you for recognizing bobby witt’s greatness 🙏
Great video once again bro!
Thanks goat!!
Jeremy Peña is technically the best player from Rhode Island. Yeah he is Dominican but he was raised in Rhode Island, and the reason why he's the best is his rookie year he wins World Series MVP. Not much people can go into the MLB and win the MVP for the World Series in the first year.
I know, but I went off birth places for this video. Would have taken me weeks to do a video based on where each player grew up
A state as small as Delaware actually producing more Pro's than many other states is crazy.
Three Tigers on the list.
Two of them on the same team in 2013. Nice 👍🏼
Very surprised that Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, and Indiana have more active MLB players than Louisiana and Mississippi
I’m also surprised that Florida has produced more players than Texas. I know youth sports in Texas go crazy. Some high school teams get to play at professional stadiums
While I agree with you in that George Kirby is the best from NY, you could have also mentioned Logan OHoppe. He’s very talented and could be a great catcher for the Angels.
I think he’ll be super solid, but right now I don’t think he belongs in that convo
Kirby over Sean Murphy was interesting to say the least
They’re not from the same state
@@BlakeRobins0nHe’s talking about George Kirby. He’s right to Sean Murphy is a top 3 catcher in the league. George Kirby isn’t the best pitcher on his staff.
Jack Suwinski should have gotten a mention at least for Illinois
Devin Williams over Max Scherzer?? I know Scherzer isn’t who he once was but…
As of right now, Williams is better. He’s the best reliever in baseball. Scherzer is never healthy and is slightly above average when he plays
Texas isn’t Kershaw?
I’d pick Sean Murphy over Kirby
Ryan Helsley-All Star Oklahoma is loaded
Yeah you’re right, missed him
I fail to see how Ian Happ wasn’t even mentioned for Pennsylvania, he had a 3 bwar and is an all star and back to back gold glover.
Yeah I completely missed him somehow, he’s better than McCormick
@@BlakeRobins0nwhat abt Stan Musial Honus Wagner Ken Griffey jr Christy Mathewson or Reggie Jackson ?
I thought manny machado was born in DR cause he played for them in the WBC
A lot of guys in the WBC play for their countries by right of ancestry. Like Alek Thomas playing for Mexico while being born in Illinois or Freddie Freeman playing for Canada while being born in California.
aint no way bro didnt choose kersh, texan here, good on king tuck and verlander but kersh is amazing
Right now, Clayton Kershaw is not better than Bobby Witt Jr.
@@BlakeRobins0n but didnt you say you werent just going off of the 2023 season?? I mean Kersh is probably one of the best pitchers of our decade, you put justin verlander on this list it only fits if you put kersh on the same
Also the reason he lost 10 games was because the offense needs to do better
Really surprised by NY state’s lack of talent honestly.
degrom is the best. hes more than 2 standard deviations above mean pitching, and prrobably 2 devistions above mean hitting, doesent matter anymore.
Hold up how do you pick Steele over Woodruff? If we base it off carreers and not the 2023 season like stated at the beginning, Steele has nothing on Woodruff
@@SonicCollectionsPS2Noisesz Right now of course. Best career, which is what I thought this video was about, Woodruff has him beat and it isn't even close
I said in the video how I’m picking the best player right now, otherwise I would have picked Max Scherzer for Missouri, Clayton Kershaw for Texas, etc
@@BlakeRobins0n Oh okay I guess I misheard the intro. I agree then
Interesting that both of the Carolinas' players were 2023 Rangers instrumental in making it to and winning the WS. Hopefully they'll both be Rangers for a while too (pleeeease resign Monty CY)
I would be surprised if they re-sign Monty, but I also don’t think there’s a clear destination for him at the moment. The Rangers signing Tyler Mahle makes it seem to me like he’s Monty’s replacement
@@BlakeRobins0n Sadly I would also be surprised, which is made extra frustrating bc he's *exactly* the type of SP we badly need for next season. With Scherzer's surgery and Mahle's signing we now have 3 SPs who won't be able to pitch until the second half of the season. We need a reliable innings-eater, and clearly he worked well with our team. We could end up in a very rough position if Eovaldi/Gray end up injured again and we have a rotation held together with duct tape. Especially if the bullpen isn't improved either
Good video , but there is no way that’s Corbin is better than Snell , when you compare Cy player it almost equal to an MVP , plus snell being good for years Corbin just got 1 year in the league
I think Carroll is just that good. He made the All-MLB 1st team as a rookie. That literally never happens
Vermont mention🎉🎉🎉
Could you not have posted a single clip of Mookie with the team that made him and got him a ring?
I don't think any one team made Mookie Betts. Mookie Betts made Mookie Betts
@@BlakeRobins0n I mean he was brought up by the Red Sox, debuted with the Red Sox and won a championship with the Red Sox. I’d say the Red Sox made him just as much as he made them.
Wtf is Bryce behind Cody
Josh hader lmao he most likely will get the richest Relief pitcher deal ever this offseason what an awful pick Shane has been amazing but hader has been the best relief pitcher last 5 years lmao
No he hasn’t he sucks
@@judge9971how? Over his career he has has a 2.50 era and a whip at 9.44 while winning reliever of the year 3 times. He’s probably on pace to become one of the best relievers of all time
Devin williams over max scherzer is nuts
yea that was crazy. Max is a Hall of Famer.
As of right now, Williams is better. Best reliever in baseball. Scherzer is so incredibly banged up and his production has fallen off a bit. I’m taking Williams all day
So, this Williams guy has been in the league for 3-4 years, is a relief pitcher who’s pitched a whopping 214 innings, and is already 29 years old and also has a 27.00 ERA in .2 IP in the post season(playoffs). Ok. Scherzer is 39 years old, is a starting pitcher for 15 years who’s thrown almost 3,000 innings and has over 3,500 K’s, including playoffs, owns 2 World Series rings (3 appearances). If you’re gonna do a list of best players from every state, maybe should do a little more research, not just since 2020. Judge hasn’t done crap in his career and I’m a firm believer that there is some performance enhancing going on in his system. Reminds me of the dark days of baseball with Jose Doctored Up Canseco, Barry Juice Bonds and Mark Roid McGwire just to name a few. You did ok,so so with your list but it needs a lot of work.
@@glenpaul5663 Dude, it's based on right now. No one in their right mind seriously thinks Max Scherzer is better than the best reliever in baseball RIGHT NOW. He is never healthy and isn't an ace when healthy
@@BlakeRobins0n Wow!! Obviously you don’t realize that 39 years old and still striking out the best players ever, Right Now isn’t something?? And as of right now, Scherzer is under going back surgery for a herniated disc in his back. To call a reliever a better pitcher than a starter is asinine. Ain’t no comparison. Imagine Scherzer or Verlander being relievers?? They wouldn’t have all the injuries they’ve had. I guess I didn’t realize Right Now meant the ‘23 season, I guess I should’ve known but looking at the team he plays for, it makes sense for one person to look outstanding on a mediocre team. I suppose you probably don’t know who Verlander is either? I’m going back a few years so don’t get mad at me because it’s not Right Now, but imagine the Tigers winning multiple World Series if those Two Future Hall of Famers were still on that team Right Now with the talent the Tigers have Right Now??
How is Garret Cole not even mentioned for California? It has to be a toss up with Judge, but he should have at least been mentioned.
Ok I knew I was forgetting someone big. On the list I was looking at, he wasn’t listed on California at all. That’s the only reason I left him out wow
@@BlakeRobins0n that’s crazy, he was definitely born in Cal. This was a cool list though. Good work.
@@tonyloyankees Thanks for the love
The constant refrain of, "I just think he's better," when explaining why selecting one player over another kind of weakens the claim of the "best player" from each state. Should be grounded more on metrics and data, rather than personal feelings.
I wouldn't change any of my picks and don't need to explain why Mookie Betts is better than Austin Riley for example. If you need a statistical explanation for that, that's on you
@@BlakeRobins0nYou misunderstood my comment. You keep using the same phrase/reason for your picks. I disliked your video because it relied too heavily on the notion of “whelp, that’s who I like” and too much repetition of the evidence I provided in my initial comment. It sounded stale and boring.
For Illinois ryan borucki should have been mentioned as another notable player
Yeah he’s good, also could have mentioned Brent Suter and Ryan Noda
Also Blaine Smolinski@@BlakeRobins0n
DJ LeMahieu should’ve been the pick from michigan
LeMahieu was born in California
What about North Dakota?
I mentioned it in the video, I picked Matt Strahm
Mississippi should have been Austin Riley
He was born in Tennessee
No mention of Hasse is a disgrace
I honestly don’t know who you’re talking about
Too early to give it to Witt over kershaw man.
jeremy pena the best player out of rhode island
Peña was born in the Dominican Republic
isn't freddie from Canada?? not cali??
nope his moms Canadian thats why he plays for cananda during the wbc
He says not based off of 2023 season then continues to say he had the better 2023 multiple times, Tim Anderson > Gunnar Henderson
Tim Anderson is out of the league. No one wants him
Hader is better than Mclanahan for Maryland
wait i thought jeremy pena was from rhode island
never mind just found out he was born in DR
@@noahice6521he grew up in providence i believe! moved there from the dr iirc
TIL that Cronenworth is from my state
He played for UofM too!
The slander of Texas mlb players is a joke
How is that slandering? I simply mentioned how for having so many professionals, they don’t have too many active players who are great
mississippi is austin riley
Riley was born in Tennessee
@@BlakeRobins0n he lived in and went to school in DeSoto county in Mississippi. It is in northern Mississippi so the hospital in Nashville he was born in was probably the closest one
Hundreds of different countries?? lol more like… 10?
What about DC
Not a state so I didn’t mention it, but Josh Sborz is the only player from there
The best MLB player from Kentucky is Shohei Ohtani
Dc?
Didn’t mention it because it’s not a state, but Josh Sborz is the only current player who was born there
Puerto Rico@@BlakeRobins0n
Nimmo is a good player but by no means a "star."
A hitter with an OPS of .800+ for 4 straight seasons is a star in my eyes
such a low bar you have. @@BlakeRobins0n
hader should have won his state easily...... idk how he didnt.. lol... owell...
I happen to think McClanahan is better. Not to pick on Hader because he’s ridiculous, but it is pretty sad that he can’t go more than an inning ever
I’m sorry but manny Machado is Floridas best
I don't even like Manny but I 1000% agree.
I’m a huge Dodgers fan, but I still love Manny. I’m not an Astros fan by any means. I just think Tucker is better right now honestly. He was better in 2023 and has been much more consistent the past 3 seasons than Manny
Clayton Kershaw is from Texas and he’s leagues better than Witt who I went to high school with in Colleyville. He wasn’t even the best player on our team, Rusty Greer’s son Mason was way better
That’s so funny, one of my best friends literally played baseball with Witt at Colleyville, wonder if you knew him
@@BlakeRobins0n idk I’m a couple years older than Bobby, but maybe. You don’t have to tell me his name in case you don’t wanna dox him
Hundreds of countries? lol no
judge isnt better than freeman. freemans been better for longer and is more durable.
Judge has posted more bWAR than Freeman while being hurt. It's not even a debate who is better
YOU SUCK...
TEXAS... Bobby Witt Jr?????????????????? WTF
Just off the top of my head and no research..... Nathan Eovaldi born and raised in Alvin Texas.
Played 13 season and won two World Series with Texas and Boston.
Plays best in WS and playoffs with 1.61 ERA at Boston WS win and 2.95 at Texas WS win.
"Bobby Witt Jr" = 3 seasons with a lifetime BA of .269 and an OPS of .783
If you go to a baseball stadium and ask 100 people who is better, Nathan Eovaldi or Bobby Witt Jr., 100 people would say Bobby Witt Jr.
@@BlakeRobins0nYeah, but it’s a bit too early to determine that Bobby Witt jr is the best is his state. We have to wait and see him in the playoffs
Bobby is mvp caliber
