That train looks a huge improvement on the one i took in 2008 to sapa from Hanoi. The sanitation left a lot to be desired!

Pretty sure the main meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) are supposed to be included in your ticket price so you dont have to pay for them. Last time I took a train across the country from Da Nang to Ha Noi, we got a big steamy hot Pork Bun and a small carton of milk for breakfast.

Is it we pay 1 room for 2 person ? Because im planning to go solo travel, if we book this first class, is the whole room with 2 bed for us? Or they will sell another empty bed for other person?
This is so helpful! Curious how you booked a two person room. I've been searching and all I can find are the 4-berth cabins. As two young women, my travel partner and I would feel so much more comfortable if we could be the only ones in the room. Any tips would be appreciated, thanks!
We have had a few people mention this and I think there are two contributing factors. First, this is a pretty new style of room for them and as a result, there are far fewer 2-berth cabins than 4-berth cabins. Also, tourism has picked up significantly again so I think they are selling out of the 2-berth cabins faster, and sometimes months in advance. Hopefully due to demand, they will add more. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful, but I hope something opens up for you both. Thanks for leaving us this question 🙌

Had to laugh at you cleaning the window, but yes, I'd totally do that so I can see the views, too. :) The train looks a lot newer nicer than some of the other ones I've seen where people were stuck in 4 berth rooms (I heard there are even 6 berth rooms...yikes!).
We both had a good laugh too 😂 Yes, there are 4 and 6 berth, we can confirm. More people tend to congregate in the hallways on the 6-berth train cars which was fun for us to interact with them as we were passing through. The train was honestly really nice, but we had to clean that window because the views were stunning 🇻🇳💛 It was a good experience 👏

It should be SE1. There are only two cabins like that one and they sell out quite fast.
