We have decided this year to call it Foundations. It's going to include calendar time (my kids are all 9 and under), Bible, character study, and anything else we need to cover as a family. My husband suggested foundations and I loved it so it's now Foundations Time.

Love this! Do you have any character studies you can recommend?

@@Kelly_Mae we are going with Not Consumed Bible Studies this year. First year trying them so I can't speak directly about how good they are but lots of people swear by them.

We are doing more morning focused time this yr. My 9yr old son is an early riser so I'm hoping he will be able to do 10 min Duolingo, 10 min reading on his tablet, and 5 min flash cards (app on his Tablet) on math facts before I even get up...
After that him and his younger brother (4yrs old) and I will say prayers together and watch CNN10 together (on our TV and we will talk about what we watch). I will then sit down at our table to do religious studies and read aloud with my 9yr old before we get to his regular actual book work.

So I only have one child and we do not do a morning basket. He is in first grade so we have a fun daily fact book we read. We learn a Bible verse a week and do Bible lesson/story everyday. He is so bright -- reading at a third grade chapter book level! but he still needs social/emotional work and some of those skills. I love watching your youtube segments because you always put God first and never make judgements about how to do a homeschool. We are all learning at our own pace. Where do you buy your musician/painting studies? Thanks so much!

We love Mistakes that Worked! It has paired amazingly with our documentaries on Toys that Built America, etc.

Im so glad to find this Magazine. We started to learn about Guatemala, children there and how to help that country. Thay Magazine should bring the gap between the library and the book store.

This year we're doing everything together except skill work (math, reading, handwriting, etc). We'll meet to do Bible, memory work, history, hymn, break for a morning walk, come back to do literature and snack followed by individual studies, back together for science. Every day will look a little different but that's the gist of it.

Do you know about the New City Catechism app? It has songs with each question!

Ours is also different every year. My tentative plan for our "Family Meeting" is to pray, have a worship song, and rotate between the Who Is God book, some critical thinking skills, and just sharing about God is teaching us from our individual time with Him. Probably also reading/reciting memory verse.

I’m excited to use Morning Time volume 1! I was going to use Enrichments Studies by Simply Charlotte Mason but Morning Time seemed a little simpler. I am going to kinda hybrid the 2 because I do still want to use a few things from SCM! We call it read aloud time.

We have always just called it our Group time. This year I am going to have a part one and part two. The first part of group time will include my high schooler and the second part will not. With my high schooler, I am planning on having prayer, a hymn, character study (we study godly character traits) or Bible geography, and read aloud.

We called it morning collective last year. I wonder what we will call it this year! 😂
