2160p 4K HD!
So for the second in 2 weeks I was returning to New York...
Finally got myself round to flying on one of Virgin Atlantic's new Airbus A350-1000's. This was 7 Month Old, G-VLUX "Red Velvet" operating flight VS9 on March 14th 2020.
So during Virgin Atlantic's January sale I managed to bag myself a return fare for £400, which included flying out in Economy & back in Premium Economy. But fares were as low as £259 return to New York from London! Which is fantastic. I was originally booked to sit the row in front, in 47K but all of row 48 HJ & K seats were empty so I moved to have the row of 3 to myself... obviously.
Now the coronavirus outbreak is having a massive impact on the aviation industry right now with things changing rapidly and I am counting my blessings that this trip was booked for this weekend and not a day later. During the flight, while we were over the Atlantic, breaking news was that the US was to close its borders to all foreign nationals, including the UK in a bid to help prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus. Once landed the captain informed us of this and it has to be said the aircraft was in quite a state of panic and shock as to how many of these people were going to return home to the UK. I am so lucky in that I was only in New York for the reason of trying out this Virgin A350 and planned to return the next day regardless so I was safe in the knowledge that I had a return flight home before the US borders closed 48 hours later.
The flight itself. We had 204 passengers onboard meaning over 100 empty seats. This of course is down to the Virus and no-one travelling. We pushed back bang ontime at 15:55 and taxied to runway 27L. Climbed straight out, heading west & climbed initially to 38,000ft before continuing to 40,000ft over the Atlantic. Lovely interior on the new A350's and brilliant IFE system and as you'd expect from Virgin fantastic crew, very friendly, chatty and happy to help. I asked for an eye mask and got given a full "goodie bag" so I do show the contents of that as well. The tailview camera is something I love! Great feature, especially when we were contrailing into the sunset. I didn't film much of the descent until the cabin lights had been dimmed for our landing as all I could see was my reflection. We flew around JFK over the water and arrived from the south on RWY04R. Where we were then greeted by the news of the US borders closing.

How would I compare Virgin's Economy & BA's World Traveller Cabin?
Its safe to say Economy is much of a muchness. The BA 777 I flew on to Cancun in January was also newly refurbished so actually the IFE systems were very similar. BA don't have tailcams on any of their aircraft. Service wise, all food & drink was complimentary including alcohol on both. Both seats feature USB charging points. Both crews were extremely friendly. Something we do very well in the UK is customer service both Virgin & BA Crew are always outstanding and I've never had a negative experience with either of their Cabin Crew.
I did venture to the galley to ask for some snacks and unfortunately all that was available on the Virgin flight was the left over pretzels from the drinks service. At BA they have a snack box in the galley with crisps and chocolates that they encourage you to help yourself too, so I was a little disappointed Virgin didn't have this. Also at BA on day departures from London you get offered an Ice Cream in Economy (usually a Magnum) about halfway through the flight.
But its fair to say I wouldn't actively avoid either of them. I would encourage people to choose both, based on price and departures that best suit you. They both offer outstanding service and I very much look forward to more flights with Virgin & BA in the future.
You can check out the BA 777 flight video from Gatwick to Cancun here: • British Airways Boeing...
As always by Full Flight I don't mean a 7 hour video. I mean the video includes all stages of the flight.
Its a very difficult time for airlines and staff right now with the uncertainty bought about by this virus so I would encourage everyone to please stay safe, look after each other and look out for your elderly family & friends. I wish all airline staff, pilots, cabin crew and the many ground staff the best of luck and hope for the best possible outcome for everyone.
Thanks for watching this video!

A350 is an absolutely stunning kit of engineering
That flap sound is amazing.
This makes me really sad with everything that is happening and thank you for sharing your experience to and i wish you and all airline crews the best and pray that we dont lose to many airlines en route to the end of this madness. ,
Yes it’s absolutely heartbreaking. The crew were very worried & upset yesterday on my way home. Wished them all good luck
7:34 damn that plane was took off fast.
I use this flight everyday to ship cargo for the company I work for, so cool to see it in action.
Thomas Callahan That’s so cool! You haven’t flown on it yet?!
I love the a350, I been on Philippine Airlines flying from Manila to Toronto on a 14 hour journey on the a350
2:08 when you’re zoomed into the VS & BA planes, it looks like one massive one!🤣
long haul flight is so amazing
Thank you fir this video, I really enjoyed it. The camera work on the long shots is really good and steady. I honestly thought it was from a few weeks ago and it wasn’t until the end that I realized it was so much more recent. I hope you got back ok.
A nice wee goodie kit there, excellent! :)
Awesome video! I’ve chosen to be sat in 46A on the A350, my flight is on VS9 too except it will be dark when we take off from London next month! It’s looking like the flight is going to be mostly full but the forward Economy cabin is pretty empty right now
Awesome video mate... i love how quiet the cabin is wow... keep up the good work 👍🏻😃
Lovely aircraft, great video
Love that you show the inside and menus and layouts...very few do that. I'm subscribing.
Amazing to watch this considering the time stamp and where the world was with respect to COVID 19 at that point. This was pretty much just over a week before the first nationwide lockdown in March, and only two days before the PM said it was time to stop all non-essential travel and contact!
Yes indeed. When this flight landed into the US we were informed all non US citizens would have to return
Going in this beauty in June , MAN to JFK
Great full flight video. The A350-1000 is a very cool aircraft.
I'm flying on one tomorrow from LHR to GRU BA can't wait.
Have fun! Beautiful aircraft 😍
Nice video. R.I.P Virgin Atlantic A340-600s :(
Was supposed to fly home on an A340-600! But it changed to a 787 :(

I miss that sound I remembered it when landing in Florida and coming back to England
Are they pumping music into the cabin? Duran Duran? Were there nine sick bags in the seat pocket?
Well that was another "excellent video"
Just have to clarify that all alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks are free in "economy" ?
I wish "Virgin" could have made a go of it flying out of Toronto I would have flown them...:)
That must have been a shock hearing that announcement after you landed!!! :(:(:(
Just wondering when/if you are going to post your return flight home?
Thank you for sharing this with us !!! :):):) All the best !!!:):):)
It is yes. All alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages are complimentary on Virgin in economy
12:35 WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT!! IS THAT A CONCORDE IN THE BACKGROUND!?
Yes. It’s been there at Heathrow for years on display
Musical Comic 69 Yeah they use at to look at and they took the chairs from that exact concord and put it in the Brooklands museum concord
Ye and also Manchester airport’s viewing park is holding a Concorde in one of their sheds
I honestly hope these airlines can pull through this outbreak, it would be a shame to see loads of staff lose their jobs :(
I'm sure if Virgin cant, then neither of the important airlines can either, aka Jet2 etc. Virgin has more money than most.
Nice takeoff and landing. I wish I was on that plane.
Read the description!!!
Tase you don’t have to be rude !
He isn’t being rude, he is just stating what should be obvious. Always read the description before asking a question that won’t be answered.
What camera does he use the 2160p zoom is insane
Nice wow 👌💜💜
Does british airways still use Boeing 747’s?
Yes! Check out my last video, I flew on BA 747 from New York 2 weeks ago.

This was before the full lockdowns in both the US & the UK. But yes even now there are still a handful of flights operating.

Full flight yet nobody is sitting next to you. . also WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TOOO ??? LOL jokes
Ahahaha this has hands down won the dumbest comment I’ve seen in a long while 😂😂😂 Full flight as in the video includes all stages of the flight not people & the music was being played through the entire plane during boarding, not my music 😂😂😂
@@TrainPlaneHub It is a nice aircraft sorry for the dumb comment .. but I did notice the open seat next to you.. when the title included full flight..
