    Great video, love the Tacoma build. Would you consider making your plans available or a cut list? My truck is my baby and I also don’t want to hack it up. The functionality and practicality of what you have done is amazing and pretty much what I’m looking to do to my Tacoma. Keep up the great content.

    Excellent build and very well thought out!
    On that a/c, you will want to duct that intake outside.
    Otherwise it’s just pulling outside air into the cab and blowing your cooled air out.

    you could also use those j tracks as an attach point for your dogs when traveling. I had a friend who would drive around with her dog all the time and she got in a rollover accident and her dog died. she felt so guilty and kept saying if she kept him in a kennel/enclosure or had his harness tied down/seat belted somehow he could have survived. Might want to look into making it a dog seatbelt of some kind lol

    Like it a lot. Have a similar topper on a Tundra, so I can offer this suggestion: a bike tire tube between the cap and rear window inflated to 3-4 psi stays in place around the rear sliding window, makes a pretty good watertight seal, and allows for climate control through the whole space, front to back. A small rectangular fan can get velcro-ed right into the gap of the pass through, such that the front/ truck window can still close over it. For the times you are not needing your portable AC, you can then pull fresh air in from the cab, through a slightly cracked window under your vent shades, and on through to the back. Your Jackery would be right below the fan for power, very low draw (maybe 5 watts) for overnight. Just throwing it out there, works great for me. Keeps fresh air coming in through to the back so it doesn't get stuffy in the tight topper space. Like the build!

    Very nice! I have an old 4 runner and this gave me some good ideas. Appreciate it. I have 2 little dogs as well. You could use that track system to hook a short leash to the chi chi’s s harness to keep something from happening to them if you had to slam on brakes. Tacoma may be in my future:)

    Awesome build! You inspired me to build out a bed system in my '14 Taco short bed. I built a 20" wide x 58" deep drawer vs the short one you built. Your battery storage and solar inverter system are rad too! Excellent work, man! Thanks again for the inspiration! I think I'll follow your lead and delete my rear seats too! Rarely, if ever, have passengers in rear seat.

    This is fantastic! You gained a sub from me man. We enjoy kayaking and camping. I would love to do a bed build like this. But we haul our electric bikes in the back. I might get a bike rack one day for the hitch and then build something in the back for sleeping. I was thinking of doing a diy cabin on the back so i could use the tailgate space as well. Keep up the great work man!

    I did something EXTREMELY similar on just the driver side for 40% delete using the factory seat hinges as well, I left the other side for my pup to have her space on car rides. Super small suggestion that I found made some access easier, the plastic lids to the under seat storage quickly snap off so I just removed it. That way when you lean the platform forward you don't also have to lift the plastic lid as well. Just a thought, it works for me since the cubby is already covered by the platform!

    what kind of plywood did you use? i'm thinking of doing a similar build. Not sure if i should use pressure treated wood? I want my dogs to go in the back as well and they will be wet, etc so i'm thinking pressure treated, and probably wont angle it as my goofball of a dog would like fall off and get hurt

    • @KayakUSA1
      @KayakUSA1  Год назад

      I would not use pressure treated, just use regular 3/4” plywood. Pressure treated wood will shrink and warp on you as it drys. 🤙🏼 Good luck with your build and thanks for watching the videos!

    Dude you have the dog free range in the back seat lift area you made….. slam on the brakes and its a projectile into your windshield, splat, game over.
