    You're incorrect. You unfortunately fell for the click bate news articles. If you actually read the report they made, they are just confirming that the Casimir effect can indeed be inferred as a "negative force" as previously surmised. The image is just showing the field of influence of this "negative force". This image is not a warp field and they are by no means saying warp is actually possible. They are just showing the constituent part required for warp to be possible is in deed real as previously theorized.
    However, this by no means suggest warp is actually possible. This image is in the scales smaller than the atom. As far as we know we know no current method of controlling this force deliberately (currently it's just a preexisting effect of spacetime) nor is it known if it can actually be scaled up. Not to mention again this is only part of what would be needed for a warp field. A warp field needs both a positive and negative warping of spacetime which currently isn't really an understood concept and may never be. One way it would work is if we knew how to manipulate gravity but there is no evidence suggesting the possibility.
    Don't let the journalists trying to sell vlicks mislead you by their clickbate titles. I heard about this basically as soon as they posted the news and immediately facepalmed at the way people have spun it. Just like quantum levitation could result in levitating buildings, as we can see that has not come to pass. It would only be too convenient for things to be that simple.

    • @facetubetwit1444
      @facetubetwit1444 2 года назад +1

      Vlicks is not a word or phrase there for ergo your wrong, but this by NO MEANS it could not be one in the near future. however there is no evidence suggesting the possibility just like quantum levitation could result in levitating constituent. • @sephkurai
      @sephkurai 2 года назад

      What do you mean by singularity? What do you mean by AI creating technology for us? Technology is about achieving a specific goal and testing millions of ideas. Before we can make AI create technology for us, it first has to learn to understand what we want without us having to make consistent adjustments ourselves. That's at least hundreds of years away. AI today is just a neat script that's told exactly what to do.

    • @theairaccumulator7144
      @theairaccumulator7144 2 года назад

      The Singularity™ is crap. Our current best "AI" is not intelligent at all. It's just a big pattern matching machine, that has memorized all of the training data and is able to extrapolate a slight bit beyond it. It's like having a conversation by getting given every word in advance, and just selecting what is appropiate based on the response. I'm certain this training by feeding data does not lead to intelligence, and we need to find a different approach, whatver that would be.

    • @Skylancer727
      @Skylancer727 2 года назад

      Yeah, this is one of those stories being heavily pushed by the media due to the researcher's background. He is just showing that you can actually use it as a force sort of like a river. This in no means suggests warp drives are possible, even his suggested follow up test only suggests using it to see if it can make a flowing force on actual particles. This wouldn't at all allow for warp fields.
      In theory it is more likely it could be use as a sort of space engine as the effect is similar to say a magnetic force but without a polarity. Though of course this force is just barely measurable and therefore worthless for any practical uses. More likely it will just help us understand quantum properties especially in material properties.

      I was thinking about making a long explanation, but no, i'm too lazy. Basically, the bubble created shows that bending spacetime is possible, but for FTL travel, we would need the energy equivalent of jupiter to make a traversable warp bubble. Either that or we discover negative mass.

    It is my understanding that Warp Drives need only a tiny amount of energy to operate. Something like a car battery to move a spacecraft the size of a 747. This is because you are not manipulating matter in the physical world in the usual sense but instead altering the ether.

    • @IrKeNoVa
      @IrKeNoVa 2 года назад +2

      You're incorrect. Since Warp drive must bend spacetime itself, it must create a very intense gravitational field, and that is only achievable in two ways, either you create an object massive enough to warp spacetime, or you use negative mass to make the warp possible. The "ether" or "quintessence" does not exist. All objects in the universe (at least barionic matter) have mass. If an object exists, it has mass, therefore it occupies a volume, therefore it exists in the physical world. If we needed only a small amount of energy to create a warp, we would have done it 20 years ago.

    • @IrKeNoVa
      @IrKeNoVa 2 года назад +1

      And yes, electrons have mass and they are not barionic matter, but since the mass of the electron is basically non-existent, i didn't consider it.

      I was with believing you until you said ether, like some sort of magic. It's cool to have inner peace with that stuff but don't start mixing it with science it just sounds looney. You can have two interests you don't have to find ways to make them connected.
