I believe kenworth trucks axle lock system is one of the best.been picking up oil in the woods,in winter time for 15 yrs.use doubles with ice picks.took tri- axle up some pretty steep hills in penna. Quite an adventure sometimes spinning out on a steep hill.
Ya I understand what you are saying by calling in but I don't care what *the safety department* says if I feel it's necessary to chain up I will another thing before you roll forward clip the hook that way the chain will stay on the tire.
2:02.. I think the word you're looking for are Kinks it would be kind of hard for a chain to get into a knot but it's all good keep driving that truck buddy
Does your company not usually go to snowy states? I've never heard of a company telling their drivers not to chain...my company encourages chaining if we have the time unless drivers say they feel "unsafe" to chain
We are told no chain policy because if you’re chained up and you have an accident dot says it’s preventable accident. If you don’t have chains on it’s an not your fault. If it says chain up sit until the law is lifted. You can chain if you want
If you don't have the inter axle differential lock on, then your chains are on the wrong tires. The back drive axle is the one with power to the wheels. Front axle is free play no power. Seen one of your videos with various clips driving through the snow. They all could have been done without the diff lock. Trust me when I tell you this with confidence, as I drove interstate 90 from Washington Idaho, and Montana mountains with chains on. I didn't have diff lock on, and snow chains were on the back drive axle, not the front. If you have diff lock on, all 8 wheels have power and can cause slipping to the back drive axle, since there are no chains.
@ajmccg TMC trucks just have power to rear drive axle till you flip the switch for the inter differential lock. Its part of what the company chose for the whole fleet on 579s. I don't know why the would, but that's what they chose when setting up there fleet configuring and to work with the Bendix braking system, drive train, suspension. About 75% of the truck is tied in with Bendix crap.
happy b.s. productions can u do i good video pointing all that out Trust me when new to industry people have do many worries in their head its good to learn the lingo of truck talk Show and point rear axle front show all details Oh and have someone record you cause it’s difficult to hold a phone or camera and do the work. Tnx
I want you as my trainer lol You are definitely good at this. Be safe out there man this is a "Nor'Easter". If those parts don't stick up I think they will Puncture the tire. 1 more thing to point out Axel any reason you put the chain on, on the rear trailer tires? Aren't those dead axles?
Jason B yes but that's where the heavy part of the load is it helps it from skidding away when I've got into that black eyes that trailer was all over the place so that's a really good place to put your chains
Safety tells you if you can chain or not lol. Best decision I made was getting experience and changing to a small carrier. Nothing personal I understand why. It's just silly to me now.
Yep-did that around the time the then-new 389s showed up, sometime around 2013 I believe. The super singles were causing them too many issues and $, so they said, and so they went back to duals.
We're not. But sometimes we get into some heavy situations were there is no place to turn around. That being said, we need a minimum of 5 years behind the wheel of a tmc truck, and safety decides if we can chain and go, or stay put and ride it out.
My question is why did you stop to chain up for utube when ur empty? U had a clear way to drive? U don't stop ur momentum that s when you get stuck.. dufus

Starting Truck Driving school next Thursday! I’m going to go to TMC for flat bedding when I Graduate!
This was a funny video, enjoyed it.
DAVE!!!! 👋
It’s not the safety department that decides if you chain, you’re behind the wheel, not them. If you feel it’s necessary do it.
Nice vídeo hommie..oh man 😎 good work..se love you mountains.🤪🌲
I'm definitely staying south till the end of spring LOL. Another great video Axel. Like always be safe bro
David Smith thank brother you too be safe

Stay safe out there Axel!

We go everywhere but we don’t chain up unless it’s an emergency

@@Arizona_rider that’s why you need to call Safty or FM first I had an emergency so that’s why they said yes

Good 👍 video
How’d you connect them without rolling on top of them?
They should stay on top, maybe a bungee

Nice video but obviously the road is a lonely place lol
Hello nice video looking for the next saludos
Put some bungees on them chains.
If your chain are nice and snug. You don't need bungee. Never had a problem. Plus you suppose to drive slow on them anyways.
Just add fucking bunjees to the chains you lazy bastard.
I see your into heavy metal!!!
Lmao 🤣🤣😂😂
Safety tells you if you can chain or not lol. Best decision I made was getting experience and changing to a small carrier. Nothing personal I understand why. It's just silly to me now.
Those things, do you mean can tensioners? And what's that speed limit with chains on?
25mph
Thank you! Man
Sign says chain down, not chain up
Just one tire?
Has TMC done away with super singles?
Yep-did that around the time the then-new 389s showed up, sometime around 2013 I believe. The super singles were causing them too many issues and $, so they said, and so they went back to duals.
You can go three days without eating
I did a week just water lost 15lb
If it's bad enough to chain
It's to bad to be on the road
I'll chain to get to a safe place but that's all
Love mother nature
How many tires do you need to put chains on if your driving through Donner Pass, California?
I don't know never been there
Depends, most the time its 6, 4 on drives and 2 on trailer..but sometimes they will make you put 4 on trailer
Chris Walz cool good to know, I guess just watch what others are doing
I didn't think we were allowed to put chains on our trucks
Or should I say, "we aren't allowed to put gains on our trucks." But cool thanks for sharing.
You have to talk to safety first
Ah, I replied before I watched your video. 10/4.
We're not. But sometimes we get into some heavy situations were there is no place to turn around. That being said, we need a minimum of 5 years behind the wheel of a tmc truck, and safety decides if we can chain and go, or stay put and ride it out.
Low energy.

Lol it was video cut offs that's how I edit the video
Low information. Bad video don’t watch.
You need to go west if you want to see some real mountains
