Had 2 cb 750 back in the day. 74, 76 that was 40+yrs ago. I dumped my 74 on the 405 slide on my back like a turtle from lane 1 to ln 4 . Miraculous there was absolutely no traffic to hockey puc my arse. Fun times
You should measure fender width from underneath the fender. Just pull the tape straight across, it eliminates the curvature of the topside of the fender.

Exactly I was thinking the same thing - otherwise you're not getting a true reading of the actual width.
My first hardtail chopper was powered by a CB750. Freaking animal. All the Harley guys wanted to trade me lol.

You were measuring over the curve of the top of the fender. If you measured the underneath from side to side it was probably six inches wide that way.

I’m really loving this build . I got my first bike recently a chopped 1980 cb 750 DOHC. I bought it already chopped it has some carb issues and throttle cable issues the motor revs up at idle if you turn the handlebars left. I have a lot to learn . Including how to ride . I love your videos and look forward to seeing more progress on the DOHC . And thank you for talking about the cycle X carbs ( Mikuni rs 34) what are you using for a throttle cable??? Mine goes inside the handlebars and is probably to short

Those flatslide carbs are great for going fast. Not so much for around town though.
That rusty primer bronze color is very old school, can’t wait to hear the engine. But you might need to help him next week with the final touches... 🤫🤫🤫
Should go in to 1036 Pearl gold, on the frame thats will look crazy :). BTW 24 hours? Thats insane fast. When we had to powder coat a motorcycle parts, 24 hours is for lay down in storage area for the next 24 hours :). Big cases first.

Great video, I’m so excited for this build. If you can please go into depth about the wiring when you get that all set up? I have a similar bike 82 Yamaha xj750 and I’m new to it all but I want to minimize the wiring to as little as possible. Those bars you got are so nice I really dig them. I’m excited to see that exhaust.

Hay guys I got a question or 2 , for Duc, how do you like the cycle X carbs you got for your DOHC? I have a chopped 1980 cb 750 and have carb issues, also need to adjust the valves ( change shims) I’m no mechanic but I’ll do my best to succeed. Im trying to learn it’s my first bike and the high idle drives me crazy, I put new boots . Want the mikunis when I can afford them

Nice paint job. Can't go wrong with black. I'm curious to see that cb750 when it's done also. Looks rad with that engine and carb setup. I just got a 21 inch laced front wheel for my sporty. Did you have any clearance issues with the brake caliper hitting the spokes on yours?

How many miles would one should have under their belt for EDR?
That’s a question you can only answer for yourself. For some people EDR is couple hundred miles. For others it’s over 1000. For any road trip I suggest that you be familiar with working on your own bike and be prepared to handle emergency situations. Being able to problem solve on the fly and maximize available resources are great skills to bring along.
