Thank you ... very clearly explained !!! My car would be a bit different, being the rear sensor on a panther platform, but your description helped clear my head a bit!!! I was so worried about the $100's of dollars a mechanic would gouge me to fix it that I didn't think of checking it with a scanner myself ... :-(
My onan gas generator muffler exit pipe was badly rusted and disintegrated in few pieces and disappeared behind us on the road. After that. a few days later. My ABS light turned on and off randomly. I did not had braking issue. but i think there is a lose wire and connection lose somewhere. Do you know who to troubleshoot that?
the abs sensors behind your wheel, look and trace the cable, they can often get corroded and even break off, it might have a sleeve on it , check it and the sensor is around $20, for me its $15. but thats a good troubleshoot
I am so changing the sensor myself. Last year the same happened to my Lightning and you guys do not want to know how much the dealership charged me. I am looking at the receipt right now. The charge to change the sensor out is horrendous.
When I was about 17 I thought it would be a good idea to power wash the engine of my 98 Cavalier well it wasn't and I ended up having to have it towed to the dealership shop the next day so that they could get it to run again, they ended up drying out the plenum and changing the four spark plugs after that it ran again I got a bill for almost $800 for that service. So that day I decided I would become a mechanic and deal with these things myself. 41 now I'm proud to say I have not been back to any shop to ever have any work done on any of the vehicles I've had in the last 24 years ☺️
2011 Ford E250 van, The problem I have with it, I get lights that come up on my dash, ABS , TCS/off , BRAKE. I brought it to a mechanic, he said was sensors on front tires. I said that’s a lot of lights for a sensor. He actually changed front sensor on right tire. And change 2 front rotors and brake pads. All light were gone for lesss then one day. They came back up like a Christmas tree. I brought it back to him and he said it’s probably the hydraulic pump. Or can be other sensors. He had it for 1 week, then said I think it’s something else because it’s a lot lights for a sensor problem. That’s what I said day one.
This is exactly why I do all my own repairs. Every time you take something like that to a shop they hit you with a repair bill just to take a shot in the dark, they miss, and you go back and they try something else and charge. This mechanic sounds like a parts changer to me not a repair person.. When he replaced the sensor he reset the codes in the computer, that would probably be why they were gone when you picked it up and came back on the next day after they had time to register in the ECU again.
@@machinesnmetal still have the problems, any can you suggest troubleshooting I have a fluke meter maybe can test sensors ? or do you have a suggestion on how to go about it ?
1998 Ford f150 v8 4x4. Abs light came on while traveling. I had all of my master cylinders, brakes, the whole shebang rebuilt 3 weeks ago. I'm stuck at a truck stop, won't go into gear and I have a rental trailer w/my deceased daughters items$*÷&$&$*÷$!!!!!
