Toph has always been able to sandbend, like most earthbenders, she just has trouble seeing if she's stepping on sand. I don't remember exactly what she said but she described it as "fuzzy" in her vision.
16:43 there are a couple things that Aang mentions that explain his position and why its hard for his friends to relate. First as a monk killing is not content with his viewpoint on violence. Second as the Avatar killing someone without consequenses allows him to superficially choose his targets and balance the world using violence. He says to Sokka: "I cant just go around wiping out people I dont like", because in his position he must refrain from abusing his power.
More than that, Aang is the last representative of the Air Nomads. His actions represent his entire culture, one that the rest of the world has largely forgotten about. The idea that all life is sacred, that no one has the right to take a life, is possibly THE central tenant of that culture. Aang taking a life, especially in a premeditated way, would be a betrayal of everything he and all of his people stood for. In a way it would be the true final death of Air Nomad culture.
Slightly off-topic, but one of my favorite underrated character arcs in this show is Sokka & Momo’s relationship because it went from Sokka wanting to eat Momo in ep 2, to him freaking out at the idea that Appa could’ve possibly eaten him and I think that’s beautiful. 😂
Sokka making a sand sculpture of Suki was soooooo wholesome. Because it’s the thought that counts Also, he went from wanting to eat Momo to being worried that Appa ate him
When you're the Fire Lord of the Fire Nation, especially during the reign of and after Fire Lord Sozin, you answer to no one but yourself as the supreme ruler of the Fire Nation (because maybe before Fire Lord Sozin, the previous or former Fire Lords also answer to the Avatar and/or also maybe to the Fire Sages, and/or to others and the likes of them, and I'm not just sure with these, and/or if these are canon to the Avatar Universe, so I may be wrong with these parts and information), but with Azula becoming the new Fire Lord here in the 4-part finale episodes, she is still and would still be under her father, just like when she was still the Fire Nation princess and her father, Ozai, as the Fire Lord of the Fire Nation, because Ozai is now the Phoenix King and the supreme ruler of their world, and Azula, even as the new Fire Lord of the Fire Nation, she still needs or would still need to answer to him. She thought that she's even more powerful now as the new Fire Lord of the Fire Nation, and yes that's true, but she's still and would still be subordinate to or lower than her father, and she still and would still be living like how Zuko did, which is to please their father, or always to please him, trying to please him, or always trying to please him. If in another timeline and universe the Fire Nation succeeded against Team Avatar and the rest of their world, and if Ozai as the Phoenix King and Azula as the new Fire Lord of the Fire Nation would still continue, Azula is still and would still never be free from being subordinate to and lower than her father, answering to him, and pleasing him or always pleasing him, or trying to please him or always trying to please him.
Toph is no more - SHE HAS BEEN REBORN AS THE ALL POWERFUL MELON LORD - but seriously now to the episode - unfortunately I have some major criticisms the gang wanting to wait to fight Ozai until after the comet arrives came completely out of nowhere - the last time we heard about it in the Western Air Temple they said they wanted to do it before - I guess they could have figured it out off screen but personally I don’t find that very satisfying as a viewer - and Aang not wanting to kill Ozai I support - but during the Eclipse invasion he was fighting him with the vague intention of defeating him - but what exactly was his plan? to mutilate him, imprison him for life or did he just not have a plan at all? I just wish they addressed it just a tiny amount - but now to what I like - which there is a lot of - the sheer tension, the comet will come in only 3 days … and the Fire Benders will use it to completely destroy the Earth Kingdom - how Aang’s conflict is handled - I really like despite my former mentioned issues with it - yes Ozai is a monster but Aang is from the Air Nomads a culture who taught him to respect all life as sacred - but if he doesn’t defeat him no matter the price the world will end - and how we get to see how Ozai love Azula no more than Zuko viewing her as a tool, he will abandon as soon as it is not useful - it doesn’t excuse any of the bad things she has done but I can’t help but feel bad for her - bringing back Jun - a minor character from season 1 - is so awesome - it really reward us as viewers for having watched the show and makes sense in universe - the finale scene of the episode is so intense ending with Aang waking up on the mysterious island like how did he get there - this comment ended up way longer than I intended sorry about that
19:06 Can Toph really "help search" for Aang in a house made entirely of wood? In fact, can she even walk on her own through the wooden house if she couldn't even walk right on sand and was completely blind on ice? 🤔In addition, she was completely useless in that wooden cell in the episode about the scams. So I think this is a little bit of a script slip.
Aang's the Avatar, so his duty is to protect the world and eliminate the threat of Ozai. But he's also The Last Airbender, and if he intentionally/premeditated-ly gives up on this core tenet, his culture really does die off. Tough pickle for a 12 year old.
I really don't think that it's that crazy for Aang to have thought that waiting until after the comet to defeat Ozai was the best option. I think that Ozai's plan to burn everything down is actually the dumber option. If I were an evil overlord intent on ruling the world, I would want to destroy and rebuild only where absolutely necessary. So if I need to burn an entire city in order to conquer it, I will, but if the inhabitants just surrender willingly, I'd rather just keep it intact because it's less work than rebuilding from scratch. And especially since it seems like the effects of the comet will only last a day, trying to burn down the majority of land in an entire country seems pretty futile to me. It makes sense that Ozai would plan on destroying as much as possible prior to the fall of Ba Sing Se because he needs to weaken the Earth Kingdom as much as possible, but once they already conquered it, it seems pretty dumb to destroy the land that you now own, or are basically about to own. Obviously, the group should have informed Zuko, but I can definitely see why they assumed Ozai would have opted for the smarter plan.
It's strange how no one suggested to Aang that they just capture Ozai and keep him prisoner. Even if he got out he would have to build up his power base from the ground up. The glue idea wasn't that bad considering how Aang and Zuko got stuck when they looked for the sun warriors. And in the boiling rock prison the fire benders got really nerfed by being put in the coolers. Putting Ozai in glue in the north or south pole would probably work.
I mean that won't really solve the problem He will still have a Loyal army to support him and still be a incredible powerful firebending most prisons would not be able to hold
@@lasseehrenreich5502 In the korra series they had cold prisons that could keep even the best firebenders from escaping. In the comics that follows the original series it is explained that a part of the army did maintain loyalty to the old regime even after its demise, so that problem wouldn't go away either way. Even if Ozai managed to escape from a prison it would still be to late for him to use the comet. He would have to start the war again from the beginning but from an even weaker position then that of Sozin.
@@ZechariahSinger True - that's a good point I haven't considered but there's a other thing - Aang does not have time to face Ozai before the comet arrives and it is possible the others believe he simply can not defeat the comet powered Ozai without lethal means - that may or may not be true but the important thing is what they believe
1) I never felt sympathy for Azula because why? She was always terrible, nothing to do with Ozai. 2) Mark Hamil actually voices a Elemental Dragon named Malefor in The Legend of Spyro Dawn of the Dragon but voice is heavily distorted to point of having layers, people may be upset but he's corrupted in every way by Dark Aether/Nether which is a dark ethereal element obviously and his plan in third game once returned to the world is initiate The Great Cleansing which Malefor mentions with *"The Destroyer has commensed its journey to form the Ring of Annihilation; at the end of the journey, the belt will spread across the world in a torrent of fire and ash, There Will Be No Escape!"*
Just found your channel and as much as I like your reactions, I hope you don’t pause and talk when the finale episodes air. It takes away from the overall experience and I feel you need to see it in real time without that.
I personally follow him for those pauses where he gives his opinion and viewpoints on what he’s watching in real time even when he asks questions that get answered 1 second later it is still fun to watch cardboard’s reactions I really enjoy them the most
Why are you watching a reaction channel if you dont want to pauses ? Just rewatch it yourself. I really like his commentary and predictions I wouldnt watch if he just sat there.
It's about balance lol. The commentary is great but it does really just ruin some scenes when you pause mid-sentence to theorize about things that, like you said, are answered literally one second later lol.
Toph has always been able to sandbend, like most earthbenders, she just has trouble seeing if she's stepping on sand. I don't remember exactly what she said but she described it as "fuzzy" in her vision.

Appa is a vegetarian. They inspired many of the things about Air Nomad culture.

Let’s go
1) I never felt sympathy for Azula because why?

You're just here for the episode, you can leave if you have a problem with him doing what he wants.
@warrenpowers108 Nothing about their comment has anything to do with balance, they just want him silent all the way.
