      If I purchase a used LCD screen or cluster, will the data from the old vehicle (mileage, etc.) be displayed on the screen in my vehicle? Or is the data stored in the PCM in the vehicle?

    I just used this video to change my 2016 Ford Escape screen, and it made it so simple. The dealership told me they would have to replace the whole instrument panel, and it would cost $1500. I purchased a new screen on Amazon for about $40, and it took me around 45 minutes to do this myself, including going back inside to swap out some tools. I cannot thank you guys enough!!

    Thank you, thank you, thank you! With the aid of this video I just replaced the screen in my 2013 Ford Escape and it saved it at least $1000 by not taking it to the dealer who wanted to replace the entire instrument cluster including "programming" which I am still curious about.

    • @FixitBongbong
      @FixitBongbong  4 года назад

      Hell yes that's what I love to hear! Glad my video helped you out bud! At the defense of shops and dealerships, most have to charge that amount because they are tasked with replacing the entire cluster. Programming is usually required with newer vehicles because there is Canbus communication between the part and the ECU or BCMs in the vehicle. Either way whatever you saved some cash. Thanks for watching!!

    Thanks for the video instructions. You saved us over $1200 and it only took me 45 minutes start to finish... I purchased the part in your link ( mine was the 140 mph version with the tabs) followed your instructions exactly and it all went smoothly. It pisses me off that the dealer would take advantage of people like that. Thanks again ..

    Thank you for the video. Mine went out while on vacation in Florida. Took a chance to fix it myself. Saved close to 1400.00. I ordered the part but the ribbon connect I didn't lined up so it never came on. So I ordered the housing with it already inside. Success with that. Only problem is it did not show actual real mileage. Showed less miles than I even bought the car for. So I gave the ribbon connect another shot and success. Shop wanted 300 to even look at it and probably 1100 to fix it. Thank you so much. Now I can sell it with confidence.

    Thanks, Bongbong! Really simple and helpful video. As an FYI to folks...my 2014 Ford Escape SE has a speedometer that is numbered to 140 mph, but then has additional hashmarks that would take it to 150 mph (but it does not have "150" on the dial). There are two LCD screen options - one for 140 mph speedometers and one for 150 mph speedometers. Some of the guidance has said to go with the 140, since it doesn't say 150. Before you do that, take the cluster out and look. Mine is held in by two 7mm bolts/screws (not Torx), and the cluster doesn't have clips holding the cover on. It has four Torx screws. When I took it out and apart, my LCD screen is the 150 mph one that does not have the screw brackets on the sides. That is the one I ordered (through your affiliate program, Bongbong - you're welcome ;-)). Hopefully it will all work correctly.

Hopefully, it will last a long time. Thanks again for making the process super easy! "Mechanics-style" gloves with a little grippy-ness helped me pull the old cluster (it is held in by two clips). It was a little plasticky-slick for my fingers.

      FWIW, I had ordered the wrong screen type, but by carefully removing the metal housing off both the screens I was able to swap them around so the new one fit securely using the old housing. Would recommend buying the right screen in the first instance, but not the end of the world if anyone does get the wrong one...
      New screen installed and the instructions made it super straightforward. Thanks!

We had the issue where the TPMS light would turn off and on, the AC would blow cold then warm, the radio volume would get soft and loud, and a couple of other issues. Thanks for all the comments and feedback everyone! Here's some additional information to some common questions I'm getting: "What is the OEM part #?" - I'm not sure this part is available for purchase from the dealership since the cluster wasn't intended to be serviceable. Ford would rather just sell you the entire cluster. "Where do I buy this LCD screen?" or "Where do I buy this in my country?" - This was a customer provided part so I'm not sure where they purchased the screen in the video, but on a quick google search "Ford focus LCD screen replacement" I found multiple suppliers in the US and in Europe who sell this part. Hope this helps!

      The part code is read in the back of the screen, visible at 5:00 sharp. In this case it was LQ042T5DZ14B. Manufactured by Sharp. I changed a similar screen on my 2011 Focus, but on the navigation display. These were for me practically only available from china, although very cheap.
