The best record she ever made and it was so inspirational and uplifting song you could only feel good after playing it. R.I.P Cilla you are missed by so many people and you are with Bobby now.❤️❤️
Cilla was a true star of pop and family entertainment the likes is which we may never see again. Came from the same area as Cilla living with my family off Scotland Road in the 1950s. And attended St Anthony's infant school in 1955, she left the senior school around around 1957 Its hard to describe that period when life seemed so safer and ordered. Cilla deserves her statue in Mathew Street home to the Cavern
An Aussie and always loved Cilla. Watched her shows on the tv regularly. She had a down to earth personality which endeared her to millions of people and never forgot her Liverpool upbringing. Gorgeous girl. RIP....
Cilla Black our Liverpool girl is no longer with us. She's gone to a better place, back with her beloved Bobby whom she missed dearly. Rest in peace now Cilla.
don't care whatever people say about Cilla she was an incredible person, a star and great singer whatever she sang loved her from the age of 12 when she brought out anyone who had a heart, and she certainly did
No choreography, no stupid background dancers, no unnecessary fireworks. they didn't even need colour back in the sixties! and still the result is fantastic... this is simply a great performance by one of the best female vocalists of the swinging sixties. thank you, cilla.
Perfect pop song. It has everything. Great bass, instrumentation, percussion. Verse chord changes terrific, Excellent vocal and brilliant hook. And of course it keeps us waiting for the last chorus. Love it !
...except that in 1969 we were plagued by strikes, inflation, high taxes and faltering economic growth, *and* the UK was split top to bottom about whether or not to join the EC. Think again.
I remember seeing a tiny clip of this on the 1000th edition of TOTP- DELIGHTED to see whole song and the fact that it's not the usual studio version is even better! Thanks a mill :-)
you left and you took with you the most beautiful epoch which the world may have, are and you will be respected by all, 'cause you really deserve it and you're worth! Forever, Cilla! Thanks you for your voice and your smile :)
I remember seeing Cilla Black on TV in the 1970s or 1980s. I really enjoyed her old hits and her Liverpool accent. You can't beat the songs from the 50s or 60s.
Dear, dear Cilla, you will be missed. RIP. Your fans will look at the stars in the night sky and think of you. Give us a wave from "above". With Love and thanks.
So sad. What a fantastic lady ! "I believe in love . . . " Part of my teen years - embedded in my mind and memories. God bless . . . and thank you so much Philip in Exeter
our cilla national treasure always a good artist and some of her songs still make the hairs on my neck stand up glad i was around to have a jive with her in the cavern Liverpool and she makes a good instant coffee,,the days of the temperance Severn and terry lightfoot cheers
@GrahamLondonUK She is...I've heard the studio version, and there are a lot of noticeable differences...the horns and backing tracks are the same, but her vocals are just the tiniest bit different. Also, she mentioned in her book that she was always a little uncomforatable singing live at these shows, because it was a studio-hired orchestra that didn't have the "soul" that she was used to with her regular band.
RIP CILLA USED TO ENJOY WATCHING HER TV SERIES (BACK IN THE LATE 60'S WHEN I WAS A TEENAGER) AND HAVEWONDERFUL MEMORIES OF THE MERSEY BEAT ERA (BEATLES, MERSEY BEATS ETC) LIKE TO THINK SHE'S REUNITED WTH BOBBY AND HER DAUGHTER ELLEN (WHO WAS BORN PREMATURELY SADLY PASSED AWAY IN THE 70'S)
The 60's, the 70's and even the 80's were a great decade for music, TV and films, now sadly those days are gone, these days it's about rap, drug culture, violence, swearing and bomp, bomp, bomp music, how can anyone be nostalgic about that rubbish as we are about the 60's?
Thanks for your reply. Cilla's early singles were ballads generally, but her later singles were more upbeat. Cilla was singing live on Top Of The Pops, a rare event, most singers mimed usually!
Sara - brilliant that you like this song, the video comes from Top Of The Pops, of course. This is the very first single I bought. Living in Fulham, I went to the Chelsea Drugstore, in Kings Road. At that time, 1969, Chelsea was swinging wildly!
@alsmith68 Yes, there is a distinct difference between this TOTP performance and the single. This was my first ever record purchase and was bought at The Chelsea Drugstore in Kings Road, Chelsea, London, in 1969. How do you know this song? You're 43 and from the USA, where Cilla is virtually unknown, as well as you being only one year old when the song was a hit in Britain!
So cool that you write the song as an acronym! Unfortunately, it appears there's no clear explanation! Perhaps, even long before the Internet, music was shared across continents and I was lucky enough to get in on a piece of the action. I could swear I come from a British/Mexican household but my parents are entirely American! Then again, being American says a lot...you sometimes you soak up the best of other cultures. God bless the USA!

Pop in the 1960s was fantastic, no wonder million sellers were commonplace.

I love her teeth. She looks so kind and sweet.

Me faltaba en la revisión de vocalistas de los años sesenta. Aunque no fueran originales sus canciones, tenia muy buena entonación.
Age. Comes to us all.

Bet the kings rd was worth a visit then , unlike yesterday was down there , could have been bermondsey high street , it was so generic and dull.

WHAT A VOICE!!! I might put this song on outside my house we have a lot of problems with cats where i live.
Haha that is great. I'd never seen/heard Cilla doing that one before. She was a bit of a fast cat eh? heh
