The best photos I’ve ever taken were with my XT-1. You are so right about the “filmic quality.” The XT-3 may appear sharper and have better dynamic range but it’s almost too clinical. I have this lingering fear that Fujifilm is drifting away from what made them special.
I’ve just bought an unused still in original sealed packaging an X30. 12 mp camera . Super sharp images even at F2. Fantastic street camera with its 28-112 manual zoom. Quirky little thing but so much fun to use. You should look for one and do a review on it. Just don’t go above ISO 400. Thanks for all your down to earth videos.
I own an X30 and it is so much fun. A small camera with a 28-112 f2-2.8 lens. Smallish sensor but that allows the camera/lens to be small. A joy to use!
The X70 is the camera I bring to places that say you can’t have a professional camera, like concerts. (Remember those...) Not to go too much into it, but my brother was in the hospital this past January and was soon to die. The x70 is the camera I brought with me because I was able to slide it into my pocket and not seem too conspicuous. It captured some of the saddest but most important images I’ve ever taken. It’s a great little camera with wonderful character. The 18mm lens is great and the colors are wonderful.
I love that camera..how i wish Fuji releases a X80. The old xtrans sensors are just wonderful. That’s why I’m never getting rid of my T1, T10 and Pro1.
Using X70 from 4 years as my only camera and love it. Haven’t felt any need to upgrade from image quality point of view. A X80 with 26M and improved video capabilities will be an excellent tiny beast!
Picked one of these up a couple of months back to compliment my XT3. Took both on a recent holiday and ended up using the X70 for 90% of it. The pics it produces are great and not having to worry about which lens to take with me each time is a great relief.
hey omar!☺️ i love your videos. you made me buy this fuji x70 and it was amazing. i have a really small hands and it fits comfortably. this is my first fuji camera. very cheap but incredible.

I recently got a Fujifilm XF10 and it gets me great images with that X100T style I loved so much, but with a fantastic 24mpx. And it fits in my pocket. Really love it.
Twins! I've been shooting mine since December and finally learned how to shoot it properly since January. It's a cute little metal brick that I take out when I need the focal length.
I have two X-T1 bodies. Bought them last year to re-awaken my photography hobby from decades ago. They feel like the 35mm film cameras I was used to and I'm happy with the results and it's easy to override the automatic settings. I even get to use my Canon FD lenses and have bought other cheap vintage and modern manual focus lenses. The results look like photos I took with my AE-1 and T90 (given it's the same lenses not such a surprise) but it does look filmic. Coupled with a cheap 7artisans 25mm f1.8 the X-T1 is great for videos in low light so I'm using it for video too. I have no desire to upgrade them, they suit me just fine. The film simulations are fine for me and the cookbooks out there provide even more options. (Anyway my gear acquisition issues revolve around guitars ...)
I’ve had one for years. Great camera. It’s looking battle scarred and worn out now but still takes such great sharp pictures. It goes places where I can’t or don’t want to take a bigger camera. For 16mp it’s incredible. It went back to FUJIFILM for some love and came back with a new lens and buttons. Free of charge!!
This was my first Fuji camera, which I bought in 2016. Then XT20, then XT3. After examining all my photos during this time the X70 was the most fun camera with a lot of nice photos, excellent selfies and my daily life. It is not made for video (loud focus noise) nor moving targets. I love the image quality but don't know if the sensor has an impact (I am not an expert on this). 16 MP is perfectly fine for printing. I really don't understand why Fuji is not providing an update on X70!!! I considered buying X-E4 but saw your video recently and am not sure what to do next. I think: nothing as long as my cameras don't break.
It makes my Olympus em10 mk2 look huge ha ha. 16 mp is fine - thrust me. Nothing wrong with the xt10 in that respect : remember that camera ha ha. I have to agree Omar - I love the look of the photos . Single focus is just fine. However, it’s only flaw as it were was the speed of focus. If you take care not to snap but instead frame a bd selective in selection of frames , it would appear to deliver the desired results . The key thing is that it puts a smile on your face from just using it and again viewing your pictures . It also has one added advantage and that it effectively gives you a 27mm full frame lens on 35 mm with a free body. Love the dials. Perfect little pocket job. What is there not to like. Work within the limits of any camera and you come away with winners more often than not. Remember it is the photographer and not the camera that makes the pictures. Better tech can deliver more in capable hands, but those without the skill - well, that is what separates the photographer from the other person . Good purchase - and enjoy it.
@@ogonzilla you will ... oh you will! 😄 I set it 2 ways: P (program mode - don’t throw stones at me) or Manual focus, set at 6ft/1.8meters, F8 and shoot your street photography extreme ala daido moriyama or tatsuo suzuki
Maaaan you’re cool ! I didn’t know that the sims are different - I ordered it getting it tomorrow to potentially replace the XT30ii kinda silly but the form factor is just so good I hope the auto focus issues people mentioned aren’t a dealbreaker cause the camera seems so cool and the lens is even more flush. The fact people say it’s more analog makes me happy haha.
Oh yes, I've had my X70 for several years, but I bought it new here in Sweden. The price was around $550 but I wanted it, period. And it delivers every time. The only "not good" pictures are where I screwed it. Fantastic colours and after tweaking the presets, I actually settled for the "3rd party" ones. I'm following a great UK photographer Kevin Mullins and he shared his 7 settings for this camera some time ago. This is on his website and free to copy for everyone. Great video Omar, I'm looking forward to watching more how you're using the X70. There's always something new to learn. Cheers!
Totally agree about the sensor. Reassuring to hear you and others say this because even though it doesn't have the same low light performance, gosh it's got something distinct and awesome.
YES!! I just got a used x70 two months ago and I absolutely love it. It’s my favorite camera and I take it everywhere with me. I’ve gotten some amazing photos with it I can’t wait to see what you get!
X-70 gang ✌️ I can't leave the X-Trans II. No matter how much I try. The tone curve is gorgeous. No edit gorgeous. I was super surprised by the focus speed. Not a fan of the leaf shutter not hitting above 1/1300 in A. Definitely get a clear filter for the front because it does eat dust.
I recently got an x-t20 after watching your videos, but i also wanted a pocket camera aswell, and was considering the x70, but i decided to go for the xq2, which the smallest x-series camera and is really worth it as a second backup camera. It doesn't have the analog top dials, but it does have a front control ring on the 4x optical zoom lens to control aperture (f1.8), and the d-pad is customisable with the push of an E-Fn button, for iso, focus modes, etc. In manual mode, its easy to change the shutter speed. And it has 6 film simulations, with monochrome including the yellow, green, and red filters. The xq2 has classic chrome, where the xq1 doesn't. Its much better than i expected it to be.
Omar, I purchased a lightly-used X70 before a major trip to Europe a few years ago. I was weary of lugging my Canon 6D for casual street/urban photography, even though I had very specific uses for the 6D (with long glass). I loved using the X70 so much I had it with me months later in the American Southwest. Despite its flaws, the X70 simply makes great images, has that "filmic" quality as you pointed out, is a "dream" to carry around, and that "old" feel of buttons and dials is a joy in use. I also discovered with the flip screen I could photograph differently: a lot lower to the ground, and a little more stealth. When I hold up the X70 (and fail with an attempt to look through a non-existent optical viewfinder), what I think is ideal is I look like "a tourist with just another camera." I look forward to seeing more of your discoveries with this camera 👍🏽📷
I agree 100% about the X-trans2 sensor. For years I shot with a Black X-T1. Last year, I found a supply of brand new X-T1s in Silver for $500. I bought two of them and I am so happy. Yes, I have three X-T1 bodies, but they are set up differently. I also own an X-T2, but, I prefer the imagines from my X-T1. Fujifilm has provided many updates to the X-T1 and they are much better now, than when they first came out. 16 MP is enough.
Sweet!! I have the Fujifilm XF10 ... it doesn't have the X-Trans sensor, but it is just a smidge smaller than this one so it may be the worlds smallest Fujifilm: X70 (W x H x D): 112.5mm x 64.4mm x 44.4mm XF10 (W x H x D): 112.5mm x 64.4mm x 41.0mm XF10 wins by 0.4mm in depth! They are utterly the same dimensions and the XF10 isn't bad - 18.5mm @ 24MP. Not as nice as the X70 though but it is nice for compact Fujifilm goodness :)
Fuji makes you nostalgic. After buying the X100V September last year, I have purchased 5 film cameras. Of course the don't replace digital, but they are more fun. I only use the phone for video anyway.
Omar, you are correct the X Trans II sensor is magical. That's why I sold my X-E3 and picked up the X-E2s instead. Don't get me wrong, I loved everything about my X-E3 but... it didn't have the same "filmic" quality to its jpegs that the X-Trans II sensor cameras do. What's even more magical about the X-E2s is when it's paired with my vintage Minolta SLR and Canon rangefinder lenses. Also, I have the X30 which is nearly similar in size to the X70 but instead of a fixed prime, it has a fixed zoom lens at a constant aperture of f2-2.8 and it has an EVF unlike the X10 or X20 which have OVF's. So I shoot my X-E2s in conjunction with my Canon P because I shoot film too. The X70 is a good choice.
I'm glad others notice the sensor thing and it's not my imagination! I use the X-T1 and X100T and X70. X70 uses the same battery as the X100T, which is handy.
Hi Omar, looks good. I have the x30 and I love it! It's my xt3 little brother. All the buttons and dials and a viewfinder! Your videos are great! Very informative, great work. JM
I have a Fuji X20. It has the X Trans CMOS II sensor, only it's a micro 4/3rd sensor. I'm just starting to use it and am waiting for some spring weather to get outside.
After I sold my X-T1, and bought my X-T2....I found something missing, and yes the tone of x-trans ii, so I bought X70 (used one) and now it's alway on my bag, becomes my "daily" camera....love it
I’ve had my X70 since new, and I’ve recently started using it again - it’s fab at what it does. I still like a view-finder, so my XT2, X100F, and XPRO1 satisfy that need, but the X70 is so small that it just goes everywhere with me. And the images......and 18mm.....superb.
I've been using that camera as my go-everywhere camera for nearly three years. I love it very much. However, about a year ago, I switched to Capture One for all my photo processing. Initially, I was very impressed at the detail of Capture One's rendering of the X-Trans sensor (and it is fantastic). But I noticed that many of my raw files with this camera just look...muddy...in Capture One-I don't how else to describe it. Capture One doesn't have film simulations for the X-Trans II series. It's borderline maddening because it's not consistent with my X-E3 which has film simulation support. And sometimes it looks fine. I have yet to determine what causes the muddy look, but because of that I try to edit my favorite shots in camera so that I have a JPEG as close to what I want by the time I import it.
I have an XM1 which uses the X-trans1 sensor. I love this camera as it is about the same size as the X70 but you can change lenses. I find the picture quality very good.
EyE sticks to the Trans2 for the most part, my favorite of the sensors. Consequently, I shoot with an X-E2 and an X-T1 50% of the time. The remaining % is split between an X-T20 for Acros and compatibility with a certain lens & a Sony A7 II for my vintage manual lens shooting.
I love my X-T10! I have never been able to get rid of it and use it as an everyday almost pocketable camera. I agree that the film simulations on these older cameras had a less digital feel to them.
I own the x70. I love it, grab it b4 my x100f and b4 my xt3. Just a simple pocket camera you can take anywhere. The reason they are so expensive for such an old camera is. There was a earthquake in japan and a building which had all the sensors crashed to the ground, so they had to use what they had left to put into the XT1 and Xpro1 cameras,, that's why there arnt many x70s knocking about. True story it was on a Fuji podcast the other week. Great channel by the way. Derek from Manchester England
Just bought a Fuji XF10. Can’t find X70 very easily and are still quite expensive, used. The XF10 obviously has the bayer sensor but i still love the output and the fact i can get a Fuji look from such a tiny camera. Like going back to my point and shoots from 15 years ago! APS-C in the size of a little point and shoot; great to have! Autofocus is still slow on the XF10 but as with the X70, single point and I haven’t had any issues.
I agree!!!!! I still have x-t1 beside x-t3. The sensor is the top of Fuji. AF is a nightmare but if once the focus is ok, the output of the sensors is unique.
I bought mine exactly this week! And sold the x100f without any hard feelings. 18mm and flippy screen is much better than 23mm. please, definely bring more of this toy! xtrans II is the best sensor ever!
Would absolutely love to see more x70 videos Omar. I’ve recently purchased an 18mm lens and struggling with composition. It’s a bit too wide to what I’m used to but I love it when i get it right. Thanks and great video as always
Yes, but as much as I hated the WB always being off... There's a really special look to some of my photos taken with the X-T1. It's hard if not impossible to redo with modern Fujis. It may sound odd but my Ricoh GR2 is closest to this look.
Have the XF10 for street. But unfortunately no flip screen and slow autofocus. So I use it in manual mode with the focus peaking. Set it once for my needs and then shoot, shoot, shoot...
I'm a Micro Four Thirds shooter who bought the X70 almost a year ago to 'test the waters' of Fuji. I've loved it and thought I'd make the jump with the XE4 - but now that's come out with no IBIS and buttons stripped away (just one command dial??) I guess I'll be sticking with the X70 for now and see how things look when an X-Pro4 comes out along with my Canon and Nikon options. All that to say, yes! Let's see more with the X70 - it's my grab-and-go camera and has a very committed fanbase
Can’t deny it...I TOTALLY ....fell for the Click Bait thumbnail. Lol. I used to carry a really small camera in my pocket and thought it was a return of days gone by. Thought maybe you had just found my next camera. Drats! Lol. Good info in any case. Thanks for sharing.
It was the X70 that started my “conversion” to Fuji. Sold it later on, but still regret it, because you’re right: those pictures had a certain, almost filmic look that I never re-found. What a bummer that Fuji never issued a mark 2.
Thanks Omar, for your work and for my sanity ! I have the same feeling about X-trans 2. I've owned a X-E1, X-T1, X-T20 and now a X-T3. Every timee I'm looking at my photos, i find that the ones from the X-T1 have something that all others don't. I thought that it was me (how is it possible that newer sensors are not at least as good as the old one). So thanks for sharing your feeling and keeping me sane. Stay safe.
Tried to pick up one of these recently, but the prices were crazy. Bought the XF10 instead as a supplementary 'walkabout' camera. Amazing form factor and love using it.
Your videos bring me so much joy, thank you! Also, the XT1 was my first foray into mirrorless and I still have it and love it! I did recently upgrade to the xpro3 and am loving having both. This makes me want an x70!
Had the XT1 for little over a year now. There's just something about the sensor. Bought it, with the battery grip, for £200 in pretty mint condition, and have paired it with the 35mm f2 (which I sold), 23mm f2 and most recently the 16-55 f2.8. I do sometimes wish I had dual card slots or more megapixels, but I'm pretty much a one camera at a time guy, and don't think I could part with it just yet.
i totally get you, Omar! I gave my xt10 to my girlfriend when I updated to the xt20, which I still use and love, along with my xt4. I also did own a xh1 briefly but sold it because it didn't give me that Fujifilm feeling plus I hated that soft shutter button. when I go through old images from my xt10 days or scroll through pictures my girlfriend is now taking, I really get that exact same feeling you mentioned. it's just as if there was more warmth, more soul in these x-trans 2 images. the overall quality of the pictures is definitely better in later sensors, but at times it seems like they miss that nostalgic, analog rendition I fell in love with when I first picked up my first FUJ'
Wellcome to the X70 Club, Omar. And yes, we want more videos of the tiny little beast. I got mine used but in almost new condition and since then I would never want to be without it. If Fuji would upgrade to an X80 and manage to keep the size with the new technology, WR and a viewfinder or at least a viewfinder for the hotshoe that comes included. They would sell more that they can produce. I guess.
Was lucky enough to find one at a good price. After watchin your video I told my self...I am gonna get me this camera! Love It, It is that good. Thanks Omar, keep the good work!🤪
Hate to say it but you’re right, that sensor gave images a look & feel that just isn’t there with the new camera’s. Don’t have many regrets in life but trading in my XT-1 might be one of them. Keep it up Omar great work.
HI Omar, your videos are so expiring, I got a x70 now too. Like x Trans II, have all ready x-e2 and. x-T1 and I am so surprised how good. this cameras are. Cant wait to get my x70 and got for snaping some pics! Thx for a very fun video!
I have a XF10, which I use more than any other camera despite its flaws because it's so easy to carry around yet the control and the image quality is great. But it needs better autofocus and a touchscreen that works like the one on the X100V - i.e. reliably. Then it would be a wonderful little thing and a proper updated X70.
They seriously need to make an X80
If they are making 2nd version I hope the name it x70s or x70ii. Fujifilm naming is quite confusing honestly.
Xe4 imo it’s one their best
@@BEM_01it is not so confusing if you are used to it, x-pro(x), x100(x), x-t(x), x-t(xx), x-t(xxx), x-e(x), x-a(x), x-a(xx), x-h(x), x-s(xx), x(xx)
I totally agree, the xtrans 2 has a special quality to it. I like it more than any other sensor
It's like magic for personal life photo-documenting
Welcome to the X70 fan club. This little gem was my first Fujifilm, and instantly converted me to the whole line up.
Getting on today per mail for 380 euros in pristine condition, cant wait!
Yes to more videos on the X-70. It's honestly a beautifully simple companion camera, if only I could justify getting one.
The x70 is my OG Fuji - gave it to my daughter and she is still using it and loves it!

Hi bro!!!🥰🥰🥰
Sweet!! I have the Fujifilm XF10 ... it doesn't have the X-Trans sensor, but it is just a smidge smaller than this one so it may be the worlds smallest Fujifilm:
X70 (W x H x D): 112.5mm x 64.4mm x 44.4mm
XF10 (W x H x D): 112.5mm x 64.4mm x 41.0mm
XF10 wins by 0.4mm in depth! They are utterly the same dimensions and the XF10 isn't bad - 18.5mm @ 24MP. Not as nice as the X70 though but it is nice for compact Fujifilm goodness :)
i feel you, it's that xtrans2 look, i never got back with any of the following models
It is NOT a m4/3 sensor in the X20. It's the same-size 2/3-inch sensor found in other Fujifilm compacts from that period.
After I sold my X-T1, and bought my X-T2....I found something missing, and yes the tone of x-trans ii, so I bought X70 (used one) and now it's alway on my bag, becomes my "daily" camera....love it
We want more videos from that "tiny" camera please!
I have so many beautiful images from my XT1 with this sensor...
I have an x70, bought it two years ago and is a phenomenal little bit of kit, great to see you rocking one. I use it more than my x-t20.
I feel this way about the images I took with the original X100. Just something about that sensor....
I agree with ya. From the photos you showed they definitely have a film vibe to them in the best way.
This camera travels the world with me. To me its a partner, a buddy to capture memories with
Still rocking the xt10 and xt2!!! Love them. Thanks for your videos
Sweet! x-70 was my gateway into the world of Fuji. Still have it. Awesome little camera!
My x100t is getting delivered today. I'm super excited to play! I think I've seen every RUclips video on it. Debating on making it my Fujifilm Noir...
@1:45 x-pro1 has the x-trans 1 sensor and produces different images than the 2
Just what I was thinking 🤔
I came to the comment section to say this
I agree!!!!!
Please more videos of this beauty!!!
I love the X-trans2 sensor. takes such amazing images.
I regret selling this. Hands down my all time favorite camera
Vid of the weekend! Had a good laugh when you put it up to your eye - would be the same with me… Keep rockin‘ this cutie and bring up some clips!
Would absolutely love to see more x70 videos Omar. I’ve recently purchased an 18mm lens and struggling with composition. It’s a bit too wide to what I’m used to but I love it when i get it right. Thanks and great video as always
XTrans 2 is the best FUJI sensor. There’s no getting away from it.
Put the sensor on the ground and even the slowest person. could get away from it easily.
@@mavfan1 Drax is that you?
Yes, but as much as I hated the WB always being off... There's a really special look to some of my photos taken with the X-T1. It's hard if not impossible to redo with modern Fujis. It may sound odd but my Ricoh GR2 is closest to this look.
Si,Si. the
XT-1 with the xtrans 2 sensor is the Bellisimo of the photographic experience.
Bravo, Bravo
And here I was thinking you were just happy to see us 🤣 What a cute camera!! 😍😍
Stay safe.
That’s a great deal😎. Charged my X70 batteries earlier today, to go shooting. Going to play with some film simulations from Fuji
weekly.
That’s why I like my xt1 over the xt2. The trans II sensor is fantastic. Love the image quality
X-Trans II was my favorite of them all. Agree with you on the look of the film simulations.
Yup, recently got the xpro1 in my collection)
Great Video. The X70 almost was my first Fujifilm camera, but then I got the X-Pro1. Still have it and love it.
Yes I would like to see more videos of your experience shooting with the camera!
First? That’s the best thumbnail haha. X70’s have really appreciated in value. I agree that a mk ii with an EVF would be so cool.
Just picked up one as well. Fantastic little camera!
XM-1 X-Trans #1 sensors 16 megapixels X-Mount glass 👓 any lens w/ adapter will work most of the time screen moves around ♥️
i totally get you, Omar!
I guess.
I’ve been waiting for them to hopefully update this camera!!
Happy to see the X70! It's a camera I never bring with me, but just can't bring myself to sell.
I still have the x100S & it’s perfect for street shooting. it also has optical & digital viewfinder & macro mode - Great for food photos too
HI Omar, your videos are so expiring, I got a x70 now too. Like x Trans II, have all ready x-e2 and. x-T1 and I am so surprised how good. this cameras are. Cant wait to get my x70 and got for snaping some pics! Thx for a very fun video!
I do street photography in Chicago and LOVE using my X70! We NEED an UPDATE! I also have (2) X-T20's and an X-T2. FUJI ROCKS!
YES there is something special about it! I need to do more comparaison with my XT2 vs XT1
Love the X trans-ii sensor. Still shooting with the XT-1 in 2021.
Another small camer Fuji option is the XE-1 and one of the pancake lenses.
