That Hot Doglicious would be great for after school snacks. It’s easy enough for an older child to use, even with the 2 step cooking time to get the bun steamed just right. And a single hot dog is enough to keep an older kid held over until dinner is ready without spoiling their appetite.
For those that choose the oven, you could dice an onion while it cooks, or prep whatever else you might like to put on there. It looks like the buns would fit better if you put them all in sideways as well. The hotdogger may work better on some buns better than others. If I were to use it, I would poke the bun from both ends, put some mustard on one end, and use the wiener to spread it as you load it up.
When I was growing up Hammacher Schlemmer (among others) sold a device called the HotDogger that basically electrocuted the hotdog back when two open 120 volt AC electrodes and a plug was a perfectly acceptable kitchen device!
I've been scoring hotdogs enough to lay them flat on a plate. I then microwave them at least 1 minute for each hotdog. The buns go in a toaster width for bagels. I've been doing this for 40 years. It makes a great hotdog and bun combination.
@@tylern6420 the version where you make a hole but not all the way through is called a french hotdog. If you use a knife and make a slit it's just a hotdog and no longer a french hotdog.

i love the smoked sausages that they cook at convenience stores that have rolled for hours. they are horrible horrible for you but its a once or twice a year guilty pleasure.
In Czech Republic, the hotdogger would find some use, since our hotdogs are prepared differently. First you take a roll/bun without a slit, cut one tip off, make a hole with some sort of spike, but not completely through, pour ketchup or mustard inside the hole and then insert cooked sausage inside. This way everything is conveniently kept inside the bun. So the Hotdogger would make some sense here, but usually our spikes are smooth and made out of metal, some even toast the bun from inside.
I had one of those toasters and I wore it out. I used it for the hot dogs only. I prefer my hot dog buns steamed, not dried out and burnt on the sides.

Pedantic comment: The LEDs probably *are* blinking, albeit in a way that is imperceptible to the human eye. Your camera's shutter speed has timing which allows the blinking to be visible. Steve Mould discusses this issue at ruclips.net/video/c6NFuJMfmYU/видео.html .
TheAguydude yea I mean I feel like that should be common knowledge but I could be wrong, alot of people don't care to learn and are complete idiots so..
It blinks due to the current flowing into it being AC current, if you film a light bar on a truck it won’t be flashing because that has DC current flowing to it
I must be slightly more of a pedant than you -- what we are all interested in is whether the LEDs are VISIBLY blinking... nobody gives a damn about blinking so fast that you can't tell. Even a regular light bulb blinks 60 times per second.
The hot dogger is ridiculous. Why did they make the handle part so big? lol. If the handle was the same size as the 'drill' part it would probably actually work. I don't understand how that makes it out of the design stage lol. I was thinking maybe 'drill' half the bun at a time, but still lol, this makes no sense! I find it actually frustrating how bad the design is 🤣
One complaint I have with a lot of these types of channels is that no one bothers with the instructions. Either they don’t read them or don’t follow them.
4:15 I had recently reheated chorizo dogs (in their original foil wrap) from the Raiders Alliance Stadium. I'd suggest wrapping this in a damp paper towel which should better steam the bun without it getting too chewy from microwaving. Worked great on the leftover stadium dogs.
I trick I use sometimes with the hot dog toaster is to take kitchen shears and trim a smidge off the buns before you put them in. Keeps the edges from getting wedged in the corners so they don't burn or get stuck in there as much. Much easier to get them back out. Plus, if you're like me and like plain old bread as a snack sometimes, you got something to nosh on while you're waiting on your lunch. Or you can feed 'em to the dogs or chuck 'em outside for the birds or whatever. Put the condiments on first and lay the hot dog on top (little trick I learned from my hometown hot dog joint) to keep everything as contained as possible and you're good to go.
If you want to toast a hot dog bun it is a lot easier to just place them on top of your toast for a few seconds and then flip them over for a few more seconds.
when i was in the czech republic there were stands with contraptions similar to the hotdogger. they were heated metal poles that ran the length of the bun but they were a uniform width. the person selling the hotdogs would shoot mustard in the hole then put in the hotdog. those worked much better than the hotdogger and was always a great thing to get on my trips

Nostalgia also has a rolling hot dog cooker that was not very impressive. Took forever to heat up and cook the dogs. However, that said, I also have their toaster unit. It’s great! In fact, I had some trouble with the push down handle and they replaced the unit free of charge. Great customer service. My favorite unit? The “Hot Dog Hero”. I got it at Toys R Us, and for a great steamed hot dog, it works better that any of the other cookers. Cost was about $5.00, and the dogs are come out hot and crunchy. Also, the unit barks when it’s done cooking. Drives my service dog nuts.
7:30 *_"You're supposed to unplug it before fishing it out, which I did."_* Uh yeah, no kidding. Depending on how up-to-code your house's wiring is, There's a very good chance that the toaster's heating elements are live at 120Vac even when the switch is up. Good call, taking the instructions seriously.

Why all that crap for making hotdogs ? Smh
I bought the Microwave Hot Dog Cooker. I think it worked very well. I got one for my sister since she is lazy. She liked it too.
I love my Hotdog toaster.
And that toasteroven actually does actual sausages pretty well.
Lol, yeah love it up with some mustard 🤣🤣where'd the grease go in the nostalgic toaster !?!?!?!
"maybe we can use some mustard to..." CUT lmfao thank you for the
laughs
"It's splitting it!" also jams it as deep as he can
The Hot Dogliciuos uses my cook technique. Hotdog in Microwave for 30 seconds then I put the bun over the top for 30 more seconds.
In France we stick the hotdog yellow thing in a bagette. It' s good for sausages (no hotdogs here) or the Italian way - pour olive oil and cloves of garlic.
that microwavable thing would actually be good for college kids because a lot of college dorm rooms don't allow any open heating sources. Or be good for people like me who eat like a college kid. Lol.
I was expecting some romantic 80s sax music while you were screwing the hot dog into the bun. 🎶😁
Love your videos. Big nin and Tool fan as well. You play guitar, right? Could you review cord buddy? It goes on a guitar and teaches you what positions to put your fingers to play cords.
Well I gotta say there where SO MANY POSSIBLE PUNS in this video that my head wanted to explode !!!!!!!
