I have never understood opera even as an adult, so this enchanting, educational yet fun event with Danny Kaye and the support of all the well known opera singers, the cast, the stage hands, the musicians, lighting and all the others is just amazing. Showing the size of the stage and how sets come on, even how snow is made in the theatre, just Wow. I am watching 17th December 2017 here in Wallaroo, South Australia, I would have loved the chance these children had to be a part of this.
When I was in elementary school, we all went to the theater and learn about all the instruments , they performed Peter and the wolf . Never forgot it and now for years love the opera!!
I remember watching this wonderful show on TV some 40+ years ago . Today I watched with my son and am hoping to watch it with my grandchildren. Hilarious, intelligent, and educating. He was the best.❤
I attended this show in the fourth grade as part of a class field trip. Believe it or not, I still have the program and the souvenir pin we all received (visible in a few of the audience cutaway shots). According to the program, there were two performances, April 10 and April 11, a Thursday and Friday, respectively, so the odds that our class was in this actual audience are 50/50, I suppose. What I recall clearly is that we were way up in the rafters and it was almost acrophobic looking that far down to the stage. It didn't matter, though: Danny Kaye's charm and personality filled the entire house, as you can see. His demonstration that the stage depth is a city block and a half is one moment I have never forgotten. That somehow made a deep impression.

Harika video, elinize sağlık. TRT1 birden çok defa tekrarını yayınlamıştı, her defasında baştan sona izlemiştim. Şimdi de aynı keyifle kızımla birlikte izledim. Bir konu bu kadar mı güzel sahnelenir, Danny Kaye ve bütün ekip mükemmel bir iş yapmış. Bir saniyesi bile sıradan değil, inanılmaz derecede profesyonel bir iş.
Wonderful show -- Danny Kaye is just perfect as the host. But what happened after 52 minutes????? A scene from La Traviata starts, and poof! The show is over.
I really admire Danny Kaye !😆🇬🇧. I remember seeing " The Court Jester" as a child, at a cinema , Hounslow or Southall, think it was... Danny had such an expressive face, was an elegant mover ...and so funny . He held this audience of little kids so easily ! 😊. What a superb way to interest them in opera !🎼. Before this, I watched on RUclips , the restaurant /salad scene with Lucille Ball, plus the flawless performance of ( I don't know the proper title...?) ".......shut your mouth ..." with Harry Belafonte, who sadly died at a ripe old age, not long ago .😢.. Danny tragically died too soon, I think it was from a tainted blood transfusion ? 😢. There was a documentary quite a few years ago...😢. Its great to be able to see these wonderful performances... inspiring , and such fun for youngsters 😊🎼.
