Webinar 2: Unprofessional behaviours in healthcare
    Thursday, 22nd February 2024 at 12:00 - 13:00 via zoom
Middlesex University Business School is delighted to announce the second of series of webinars discussing critical ideas around culture and leadership in healthcare.
These webinars will showcase work done by researchers from Middlesex and other institutions that explore key concepts of leadership, culture, equity and the implications for both the NHS treatment of its workforce and the provision of safe and effective patient care. The webinars take place at a time when there is both a growing recognition that culture and equity are crucial issues for the NHS and serious challenges in making the progress needed.
The second webinar will feature Professor Jill Maben who is co-author of the recent report on Addressing Unprofessional Behaviours in healthcare and Dr Justin Aunger. The research abstract states “Unprofessional behaviour (UB) between staff encompasses various behaviours, including incivility, microaggressions, harassment, and bullying. UB is pervasive in acute healthcare settings and disproportionately impacts minoritised staff. UB has detrimental effects on staff wellbeing, patient safety and organisational resources. While interventions have been implemented to mitigate UB, there is limited understanding of how and why they may work and for whom.”
