    I think Jake has a soft spot for Wren. There's a father vibe that comes through whenever Jake builds something. It's a special thing.
    All these guys are kind of sweet like that actually. There's a whole brothers/best friends feel about the whole crew.

    A great idea for drilling holes in things is that you can put another piece of timber on the other side of the desk and you clamp it down so it doesn't ruin your work as it comes out the other side. Instead of having to switch sides mid drill. Just a tip I hope you read this jake >:)

      switching sides is still pretty effective and easier

    • @mebularnebular
      @mebularnebular 5 лет назад +1

      Others will tell you that a better alternative to strapping a piece of wood to prevent a blowout is to just switch sides mid drill.. Helps prevent burning and much easier to get the puck out of the hole saw as well.

    • @ZesPak
      @ZesPak 4 года назад +1

      @@rsimps14 Depends. I usually switch sides, but sometimes it might be in a tighter spot or corner not that easy to reach.
      Switching sides also has the advantage that you can drill holes a lot deeper than your drill actually is :), it also makes it a lot easier to get the wood back out.

    This is probably a long shot, but... Any chance you can talk about comparing ARRI vs. RED. Really wondering what the differences are and why you guys chose RED.
    Also, what do you shoot the vlogs on? And why not on the red. Too big of a hassle? Or different reasons?

    • @auston124
      @auston124 6 лет назад +19

      I am not 100% certain but I think I remember them saying the vlogs are primarily shot on a Canon EOS 80D. As for shooting on the red, I would say it is just a size/ease of use factor. It could also be that the RED's are normally tied up in shoots so it would be better to have a separate smaller/cheaper camera for the vlogs. However, I am not them so I am not really sure. Would love to see a comparison video as well.

    • @nickm7728
      @nickm7728 6 лет назад +18

      Shandor I’m not from Corridor, but I can take a stab at this.
      RED cameras are more customizable, can be lighter, and start cheaper than ARRI cameras (with accessories making up the difference). The modular nature of the RED cameras fits better with the Corridor style and budget - a more modular camera can be light for handheld/vehicle mounting and kitted our for shooting on sticks. ARRI cameras, in my opinion, produce a more pleasing image, but it’s all about what look you’re going for and what you plan to do in post, and the Corridor shooting style doesn’t really mesh with the way most ARRI bodies tend to be operated.
      I think they shoot the vlogs on an A7s2, but I might be wrong on that one... I think it used to be a 5D? I’m pretty sure they have a video about this. As for why they don’t use the RED for vlogs, it’s about ease of use in shooting and post - RED’s codecs are huge, high quality, and add hours to an editorial workflow. Files from a camera made for run and gun reality/documentary work or a DSLR don’t require the degree of post-processing that RED files do. .R3D files, compared to the files made by above mentioned cameras, take up TONS more space, require proxy-editing and in depth color-correction, and fill up cards a lot faster. Also, shooting the vlogs on their main camera would put unnecessary wear on very expensive/essential gear.
      I hope that answers the question!

    Jake reminds me of a hipster who just got his dad's old tools and has no idea what he's doing or talking about but wants to make stuff.
    It's frustrating but he tried :)

    I am just two minutes into the video and the amount of respect and consideration that you guys seem to live in the office is remarkable, I absolutely adore and deeply respect this mindset. Both that Jake makes sure that Wren gets to keep the good parts of his old desk and that Wren is trusting Jake with his beloved desk :)

      I can understand that. We have leaned heavily on the commercial side of the style, and have focused more on the human experience over the technical process. But if there is a new process to be learned or taught like back when Wren was learning 360 video, I do want to teach while doing, cause i think it would work just as well. -cmike

      There is only one video where he annoyed me once. It’s when Brett car gets stuck, and right away without being asked for his car. Wren says his car is only insured for himself. He didn’t want to let anyone use his car. Yet, no one even asked him yet. He shut it down before it was brought up. Brett needed help, and the first thing he thought about was not letting anyone use his car. But the next scene, Brett has Wren car. So off camera, Brett or someone had to ask him.

    Skin the desk, paint it gloss white, clear coat it satin. It would be beautiful.
    As I continue through the video I'm starting to think this was crafted with a great deal of love, to make up for a lack of ability 😂
    Whilst I genuinely love the look and practicality, this was more about sanding, adding some legs and cable managing. Oh, and two hooks plus a hole 👍
