From my experience l, you have nice folks and mean folks in all countries. It's annoying when someone trashes a whole population, based on a negative experience from a few individuals.
The people who warned you had only been to Paris, most probably. Paris being a huge city, a lot of people are in a hurry, stressed out, anxious so there`s going to be some rudeness of course, but the rest of the country is calm, relaxed and friendly, as you found out. Vive la France.

We as Americans are very friendly. That's why I find it hard to understand why Europeans find this so surprising. Enjoy our hospitality and your adventures, you've been to places in our own country a lot of Americans never experienced, including me.
Plenty of Americans act like absolute jack wagons outside of these borders. And within the borders. People are people. Every country has very nice people and their share of jerks.
I live near San Diego in wine country. San Diego is my favorite city in the U.S. Several years ago, I went to Paris with my daughter, and I couldn't believe how kind the French people were to us! So kind, welcoming, and warm. We were lost in the metro, and a lovely man spent so much time helping us get back on track. Drawing a diagram, etc. even though we didn't speak French and he didn't speak English. That he even cared to help really impressed us! P.S. Welcome to California!!!!
I'm a New Yorker (and dedicated to that), but I genuinely like California--I've been up the West Coast from San Diego to San Francisco--during several trips over the years. It's a beautiful state and was all great. One foodie thing I experienced: I was staying at a hostel in San Francisco and I had a rental car, so I drove to Berkley and a young English woman I'd met came along for the ride. We had lunch at a nice sandwich eatery just off campus, and our sandwiches came with a house salad--it was just enormous. She was laughing but also slightly embarrassed; she said it was more salad than she saw all year back in Manchester
Agree! Phoenix down to below sea level where only the Ocotillo grows and the coyotes roam and then up to 4,000 feet through the craziest rock country you'll ever see and then back down to sea level to beautiful San Diego..
Go on and enjoy your emotions, completely understand and it is such a natural reaction. It brings me joy to see how much you have enjoyed your time here and more to come. Years ago , when I visited Disneyland, some of the girls who worked there just wanted me to talk to them just so they could hear my southern accent, but I bet you have had similar experiences with your accent . Now go to the beach and take it all in-enjoy!
I love California, my sister lived out there for a long time and I’d visit her sometimes. I can’t speak for the whole of the state, but Southern California (socal) is such a great place, laid back, lots of good food vegan or otherwise, cool people, all the sights and the beach. There’s a lot to do and wish I had moved out there when I had the chance! So much opportunity out there, it’s no wonder so many move out that way, not to mention the great weather.
Hey! It's been such a long time since I've posted a comment on one of your videos. I decided to comment on this one, since it was also my experience as a foreigner coming to the US, it astonished me how willing to help americans are. In the years I lived there, I had nothing but nice experiences with people, I'm so thankful I was received in such a welcoming way. That is the reason why the US is in my heart. I'm glad you had such great experiences over there!!!!!
It’s very cool that you chose to visit my city (San Diego). Most tourists just ignore or bypass San Diego and head straight to LA but my city has just as much cool and exciting things to offer. I hope you enjoyed your time here :)
I live in Orange County, very nice, but I went to school in San Diego and I always say San Diego is an almost perfect city. I love to go down there as often as possible.
San Diego is the only city I have ever been to in CA. My first thought was, "Man, people are lucky to live in a place like this."" The fresh slightly salty breeze, the people I met and just the overall atmosphere were amazing. I had it in the back of my mind to try to move out that way but that never came to be. Though I'd love to visit again someday.
I have family in San Diego, my sister, her husband, and their two daughters. There are a lot of things to see in San Diego. The US Navy has a base there in San Diego and the USMC has Camp Pendleton. The climate is like the Mediterranean coast.
Most McDonalds are open at 6am. Some McDonalds are open 24 hrs, if they are near a busy interstate expressway ramp/exit. In the midwest/east all White Castle restaurants are open 24 hrs.

Woo! I've visited some friends in San Diego several times, and it's always been a really pleasant experience. They live a little ways out from the inner city, though, so I've mostly only experienced the gorgeous mountainous areas and quieter neighborhoods. But Balboa Park is always a favorite stop for me, as well as Old Town, where they have some amazing historical buildings and lots of great Mexican foods!

I'm a native San Diegan, still living here and so happy to have you in my home state and city. So glad to hear you're being treated so well and though I know you probably have all your plans laid out, I hope you get to see Balboa Park, it's huge and so beautiful there as well as one of many amazing beaches. I'm partial to Pacific Beach, but most of them are just wonderful. Wishing you the best while you're here and hope the rest of your time in the US is fantastic.
Bonjour sweet Marie, I hope you feel better soon. First, I'll give myself a little pat on the back for guessing California would be your destination after Arizona. You could probably spend a month or more in CA. San Diego is known for having really nice weather. 1:10: Most McDonalds are open at 6:00 am. By 7:30, they've already served a good many people. 2:56: So glad you encountered some nice people. 6:07: Someone telling you that you're prettier in real life. I think most people look better in person. I can only imagine what a stunning beauty you are in real life. I hope the rest of your trip went well. Stay safe sweetie.

Really enjoy your videos. I've watched your Normandy videos several times... it's on my bucket list, but probably will never see it. Watching it does make me feel like I've been there. Hope you have fun in San Diego. Northern California is worth a trip of its own, at least a week - Lake Tahoe, San Francisco, Monterrey, Napa, the redwoods.
I love the fact that the people are being so nice to you. You are such a sweetheart and seeing how much you appreciate our country and the people should make people understand how blessed we are to live in the USA. I love your videos and how much you share. Huge hugs to you and enjoy the good things.
You were in San Diego last month? Cool! That's my home town. 😀 Loved your shots of the San Diego skyline... looked like you were on Harbor Island. I've seen that view (and photographed it!) many times. I've driven I-8 between San Diego and Arizona so many times I could probably do it in my sleep. I hope you enjoyed whatever you spent your time doing in "my town". 😊
Im glad you enoyed it and that people treated you well. Thats what i always hope whenever somebody visits this country. Id hate for anyone to get a bad impression
Would it be acceptable to invite you to Pollock Pines, CA? We have a beautiful reservoir (Jenkinson Lake) with kayak rentals and horse tours through beautiful El Dorado National Forest. I moved here last year, and the beauty is staggering. Thank you for the excellent show! I love the French people, they are America's oldest friend. I have been to France and absolutely love the French people. Stay proud France, America loves you!
Now, I went to Navy Bootcamp in San Diego in 1970. My First time West of Colorado, flying, and seeing the ocean. Then to the Asian area, off and on for 3 yrs.
If you make it to the central coast (SLO/Santa Barbara counties) I could definitely be a tour guide or point you to places to visit or see. I love living on the coastline of California. Big Sur and lots of amazing scenic coastlines are a short drive away.
So glad you are having a good time. Hope you enjoy all your experiences in the states. Looking forward to seeing the next video. Stay well and be safe.
You should visit the upper midwest next time you come to the States. French trappers and explorers were very prevalent in the region back when it was just wilderness.
Hello and welcome to San Diego Marie! So glad your having a great time! You got to see so much and making the best use of your time. If you can try to visit La Jolla while in San Diego. There are so many beautiful places. I have always enjoyed it there also. Have a wonderful time!!!!!
Hello Marie 🤗!! I am so very sorry you got sick😮 at the end of the Arizona leg of this trip - that is never any fun, and it definitely had you coughing a bit - 😥😥. I hope it did not last too long! (I loved those pretty flowers and the red mustang we saw at first🥰🥰. I even learned about the 5 C's of Arizona, thanks to you, and they all made sense. I also learned about that Cactus Wren I had never heard about as the AZ state bird. This was so much fun to just listen to you talk about your trip from Arizona to San Diego with your friend 🤩, and the I-8 lunch stop looked awfully appetizing Marie😋😋 ! I made the trip from Austin, TX through El Paso, through Tucson, AZ, and on to San Diego several times to visit my sister there, so it was fun to see your route from Phoenix. The country side scenery is so very familiar, and driving next to the Mexico border gave you a view of the Wall at that point too. Those Windmills are always impressive as they are so huge!! And, of course, the palm trees 🌴🌴and those night lights are very pretty alongside the water. It makes me very happy for you that you enountered such friendly people in California, and that big gathering of motorcycles was cool (and the Vette!). What a nice lady you talked with who gave you that pretty bandana - so sweet 😇🤗, especially because it was for you🥰🥰 . You know, the coconut shrimp and waffle fries looked awfully tasty 😋😉. Awhhhh, that was so nice for you to get a compliment that you are even prettier than you seem in your videos (which is saying something, since you look so amazing in them!). And you even got to drive again - you are quite an experienced Southwestern driver now! I just love that you were so excited and sporting such a huge smile in this video for your brand new adventure in California with your dear friend too 💕😍! I am already looking forward to your next video (and your food picture right there at the end looked great too), and I know it will be fabulous 😃! Thank you so much for sharing (as you were working on Mother's Day 😉☺), and please take especially good care of you Marie 🥰❣
Glad you are enjoying California so far. I have not been to San Diego but I have been to LA a few times, Long Beach, Fresno and Yosemite. I highly recommend a visit to Yosemite but with the massive snow melt, its just now fully opening up in June!
Great recap of your Arizona trip. Such an exciting adventure you brought us on! I very much look forward to your next series in the state of California. Hope you have a great week ahead! Cheers! 🍻🌴🌞⚜️
I loved hearing about those 2 women! Super cool and nice. Glad you're enjoying the West - both the nature and the people. I look forward to the upcoming videos. 😉
Ahh, I guessed it. There you are in California, in my home town of San Diego no less. I hope that you have a great time Marie. San Diego is such a great city with so much to see an do. Too bad you don't play golf. I moved to Seattle about 22 years ago for work but all of my family is still there in SD. I miss it but I don't miss some of my relatives. lOL.☺☺ There's no shortage of fine dining in SD so no disappointment there. Our beaches and zoo's are top notch too. ♥
I love watching your videos. Although I have been to many of the places you show, you describe your trips and discoveries with such enthusiasm that it brings back memories of experiencing something for the first time.
I love San Diego, but I hope you are able to drive up the west coast. It gets progressively more beautiful the farther north you go. Just hold your breath for however long it takes to get through L.A.
Don’t allow one person to destroy your peace. You are patient, kind, respectful, and open to new experiences. In my book you are first rate and a perfect visitor. Love to you!❤
Welcome to San Diego, Marie. I imagine you will be going to the world-famous San Diego Zoo (everyone does), and/or the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. The Safari Park is up in the north county area though - a long drive. The zoo is in the central part of the city, and easier to get to.
It makes me happy to see my fellow countrymen treated you well, and helped make your visit memorable and a pleasant one.

Out of all the cities in California, you picked the rare one that is absolutely worth visiting, excellent choice.
San Diego is my favorite place in all of America. I hope you love it as much as I do.
Oh wow! San Diego is my home!! Would have loved to meet you, but at least you got to see my home town. Cant wait to see some more videos.
Yes San Diego is beautiful. I love that area.
Been to San Diego twice. Once for work and once for a job interview. Recommend the Air and Space Museum there.
I glad you had a good time in AZ... Looking forward to see what you get up to in California. 👀
Love that our sweet French lass now uses the word "Fricking" !!! Next up? Valley Girl speak !!
I'm so glad that you are enjoying yourself and having so many happy experiences. I look forward to seeing more of your adventures.
Hope you got to visit Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks or at least Yosemite NP.
So happy you had a great experience in AZ! There are some really beautiful areas of California! Praying you have a safe and lovely time in CA too! ❤
Came here to say this. Yosemite is incredible, and right now, it's MEGA incredible. :)
Welcome to California! ❤🌴
In Yuma, where they have date palms, they served date shakes (dates with vanilla ice cream).
You are a nice girl. If you ever come to Portland, Oregon, you have a place to stay.
Glad you had a good time in San Diego. Glad people were nice to you!
People were nice to you was because your Soo cute and adorable little lady ✌️❤️🇺🇲
I was in Cave Creek during bike week as well - so glad you liked Arizona - I love living here.
You were in the best place of the country. Welcome to my hometown of San Diego California!
Hello from Mission Bay Park in San Diego!😎✌️
I love San Diego, but I hope you are able to drive up the west coast. It gets progressively more beautiful the farther north you go. Just hold your breath for however long it takes to get through L.A.
Make sure you go to Carmel by the sea.
Don’t allow one person to destroy your peace. You are patient, kind, respectful, and open to new experiences. In my book you are first rate and a perfect visitor. Love to you!❤
?
I am behind in watching my RUclips video subscriptions but so happy you enjoyed your trip! I hope you and your family & friends are well!! #earthquake
Enjoyed your video! Love from San Diego!
