This song makes me picture walking through a murky, Norwegian forest chasing a Norwegian forest cat while a random Greek man playing a bouzouki offers me pickled herring. She took me there.

A very beautiful song. I love the sound of the bouzouki and the voice of this young talent. I am very proud that my country, Greece, awarded this masterpiece with 12 points. Norway along with Switzerland were my favourites that year.

I clearly remember--as if it were yesterday--how people were awed in Greece that the Norwegians chose to use the bouzouki for this soul captivating masterpiece. What's more, it was performed with such sensitivity and human warmth that I wish it had been the Greek entry, in which case I would have been proud.

I also remember the competition very well from 1993. It was a really good year with many beautiful songs. Greece and Norway were my favourites. Greece gave Norway 12 points and Greece received 7 points from Norway. I still listen to both songs and feel exactly the same way now as I did back then as an early teenager 😊🎶

She sings it in her own dialect, from south west Norway. - Where they use French R’s not a rolling R, like in the Oslo, and north areas of the country.

All my thougths. when I meet you in the street and you stop and smile this strange smile and stay there affecting that nothing happened, don't dare find my look. no one must see it, only you and I knew it. when I meet you at night and look at me with this strange light and fondles me softly, practise to mock by passing. no one must see it, only you and I knew it. all my thoughts fly towards you. all my dreams are open wide. in all my rooms only I see you. you lie down on my bed and sleep and sleep away. when you are among your friends and your rolling laugh melts my skin and you affect that you have never seen me, you are like a distant and inspired god. no one must see it, only you and I knew it. all my thoughts fly towards you. all my dreams are open wide. in all my rooms only I see you. you lie down on my bed and sleep and sleep away. all my thoughts fly towards you. all my dreams are open wide. in all my rooms only I see you. you lie down on my bed and sleep and sleep away.
((((The up and downs of life can usually change our boyfriends and they become angry at their girls. This is the origin of domestic violence. It is difficult for girls to make up her mind because this subtle violence, very often witty violence, is mixed up in all kind of faces of the everyday life of the couple. That's why it is difficult and maybe dangerous in a lot of senses. Basically the funds of the married couple or the socioeconomic future of the affair. But I declare and state that we have to get on with laying the blame on the worked-up boys at every moment and holding them the responsibility of the troubles that she has to bear alone.))))

Beautiful song, but what's with the camerawork? So many terrible long-shots, it's as if they were trying to kill its chances

1:50 So unprofessional, just cutting away from the stage to the flash mob of applauding audience members and leaving the girl doing the actual singing invisible for like 30 seconds. Eurovision 1993, ladies and gentlemen.

This was planned like that! It's the Norwegian delegation clapping along to the song, to support Silje. It's a beautiful moment!

Perhaps to south Swedish (Skånsk). Also it is not as "singish" as East Norwegian. So maybe a bit more similar to Swedish.

takes 1 min 57 secs to come to life...too long in a three min song

    • @th5841
      @th5841 2 года назад

In general 3 minutes is too little time for a song to shine. And this is one of the problems with ESC. Another weak side about ESC is the "need" for the songs to be "pumped up". "Quiet" songs often fall through, because many people don't think they "come to life".
So for the sake of getting a better result, you may be right. For the quality of the song itself, I don't fully agree. But I would love it to be longer after the buildup, though.
