This song makes me picture walking through a murky, Norwegian forest chasing a Norwegian forest cat while a random Greek man playing a bouzouki offers me pickled herring. She took me there.
We had this in our wedding...such a beautiful song...We had a pro singer and people playing the fiddle and guitar...so amazingly beautiful. Makes my heart burst....
A very beautiful song. I love the sound of the bouzouki and the voice of this young talent. I am very proud that my country, Greece, awarded this masterpiece with 12 points. Norway along with Switzerland were my favourites that year.
How sweet is it to read nice comments about this song. I also enjoyed watching the finale back in 1993 and I kept Greece and Norway as my favourites and I still listen to both songs. 😊
I clearly remember--as if it were yesterday--how people were awed in Greece that the Norwegians chose to use the bouzouki for this soul captivating masterpiece. What's more, it was performed with such sensitivity and human warmth that I wish it had been the Greek entry, in which case I would have been proud.
I also remember the competition very well from 1993. It was a really good year with many beautiful songs. Greece and Norway were my favourites. Greece gave Norway 12 points and Greece received 7 points from Norway. I still listen to both songs and feel exactly the same way now as I did back then as an early teenager 😊🎶
I was 12 years old when this aired and i can't forget how the audience just started clapping along to the music! Absolutely love this 25 years later...
Amazingly heartwarming song, the bouzouki was indeed unexpected from Norway- but it makes it even more beautiful. It's a such beautiful, emotional song. This performance is amazing, the studio version's even better. For me actually the clapping of the audience ruins it even more, it breaks the emotional side of the song.

In general 3 minutes is too little time for a song to shine. And this is one of the problems with ESC. Another weak side about ESC is the "need" for the songs to be "pumped up". "Quiet" songs often fall through, because many people don't think they "come to life". So for the sake of getting a better result, you may be right. For the quality of the song itself, I don't fully agree. But I would love it to be longer after the buildup, though.
