The only runner-up since 1975 not to get 12 points at all. How unfortunate! This song is absolutely gorgeous, by far my favorite of Elisabeth Andreassen's Eurovision entries. A true diamond right there.
And people talk about the Scandinavian block that votes for each other. And every time Norway wins, our neifghbours give us shite points. The so called scandinavian block goes one way, and that is towards Sweden, and no one else!
Absolutely agree. Though Ireland actually won, I believe Norway and Sweden could have won if they had taken part separately in pretty much any given say 90's year.
Sweden was my personal winner with Norway in a close second. I'm really happy that Ireland won in 1996 (I'm Irish what do you expect) but I've always had a soft spot for the British entry in 96. My top 5 would've been 1- Sweden 🇸🇪 2- Norway 🇳🇴 3- Ireland 🇮🇪 4- United Kingdom 🇬🇧 5- Estonia 🇪🇪
The true winner of 1996! This is really the kind of song I love 💗! It makes me feeling like if I am in a beautiful and charming Christmas with my family and my girlfriend and my friends in Norway 🇳🇴 in Oslo and we are celebrating 🥳 Christmas with the whole city 🌃 during an Aurora Borealis!!!!!! It is truly a gorgeous masterpiece !!!
Exactly!!! For me it is the perfect song to celebrate 🎉 Christmas with my girlfriend in Norway 🇳🇴 to see the Aurora Borealis!!! A true masterpiece ! It is my third all time favorite from Eurovision!
Well, out from the result in 1997 I'm glad we didn't. Fun facts: Tor Endresen along with Elisabeth Andreassen as a duo won a voting in a News paper where lots of Norwegian artists were chosen to go to the Norwegian final. Elisabeth Andreassen was heavily pregnant with her 2nd child at the time, but said that Tor Endresen could either find someone else to sing with or compete alone. He chose to go alone.

Best Norwegian entry ever, Best song from 1996, I liked it very much from the 1st time when I listened to it in this final 1996. Should have really won. This song has such a great mood, I still get goosebumps now. And Sweden was my 2nd place. Ireland was good but never in life as good as Norway or Sweden.
This song gives me the goosebumps. I met Elisabet in Oslo while the Eurovision 2010 was being held by chance. She was really kind to me. Love her ;DDD and love this beautiful song. By the way, I also agree that Eurovision should be live again. I miss the orchestra. Let's put some glamour on it.
@@joaodescalco4953 True, and there even were some acts who pushed the boundaries of how much the orchestra was needed already in the '70s. Cliff Richard, ABBA and Matia Bazar were among these.
@@joaodescalco4953 It is hardly realistic to think that the orchestra will return at this point. Then again, it is really a surprise that Luxembourg will return after 31 years, so hey, who knows if things can change about the orchestra too? For the new edge sounds. Both songs in the top. Yes, it was the year of new edge sounds. Even the third qualified song, the swedish one, was new edge. But your portuguese entry was my second fav after this wonderful song

Elisabeth has participated 4 times in the Esc. 1 victory with Hanne Krogh, a second place with this song, a 6th place with Jan Werner, and an 8th placing with Kiki Danielsson. That’s quite impressive, 4 times top 8.
And in 1985 she competed against Kikki. I think that is the only time two people who have competed together comming back and conpete against eachother!
Aww….Michelle, what a wonderful family memory! I can still remember watching this in Australia - thinking this was going to win for sure. Her voice is like an angel - and the crowd response! Was 0:15 certainly my winner - ur uncle too for being part of it! ❤

Pero prefieren cantar en inglés para vender más discos porque piensan que es un idioma más práctico y universal aunque sea con una gramática incorrecta para los propios nativos como sucede con A-Ha y su exitazo Take on me (1986).

I think Elisabeth was one of the best singers ever in the contest. She had a lovely voice, good vocal technique, musicality and feeling for the words.
One of the most beautiful of all Eurovision songs and Elisabeth sings it so wonderfully.

Amazing! I'm glad she got to show what she could really do with her voice... Bobbysocks was fun, but this is in a completely different class!
Yes, and a few years earlier too with Jan Werner Danielsen. Pity Ireland robbed her of victory twice with rubbish. (P.S. I'm Irish. )
