Honestly I really hate our criminal justice system today. If he had been arrested today the charges would have been dropped or he would have gotten a slap on the wrist. So many people have multiple MULTIPLE felony convictions but still only get a few days or months in jail. When that happens you don’t get to think about your actions and rehabilitate. They will just continue to commit crimes and won’t stop. I’m glad Gary got some hard prison time. It’s obvious it changed him and had he not gotten that time he may still be a criminal or on drugs or dead.

@Nerdrotic as a former opiate addict who somehow stayed out of trouble, I disagree with big/little dog philosophy. My dog is inside, he's a 142lbs Cane Corso male. UNLESS that meat is given by me, family, I've trained him to disregard it and keep eye/nose. Cane Corso in Italiano translates to canine bodyguard. Their whole reason for being is to be watchful and territorial, to guard property, livestock and family. He loves people... except on the property without invitation. He will bark, growl, smell, watch, wait.
Plus, Rocco prefers deer to beef. I truly do not recommend anybody does this to my house, you will have a Roman Mastiff on you fast with a BIG mouth a d strong jaws/teeth, a loud low pitch bellowing bark to tell me: Grab the shotgun something is wrong. I specifically trained him to disregard strange meat not given by me or sisters, he will ignore it. I keep him well fed, no danger there.

But I find it so important to remind myself that good and honest people sometimes get sentenced too. That's why i always do my best to treat people with respect and as much kindness as possible (without being taken advantage of or being naive). It is a fun job though. You get to meet interesting people. Sometimes it feels good being there deporting someone. Other times it feels a bit sad when you have to deliver a good man to prison. If you come over my fence or in my door without me and your a stranger you better have gun or sword. My dog doesn’t eat anything offered by a stranger. You gotta have the right dog obviously. Also everyone going to prison has to be “classified” that’s why you start at a reception center. “I was only supposed to be there a month but I got lost in the system and was here 4” You didn’t get “lost in the system” lololol That’s some innate fairy tail stuff. You stay in reception for as long as it takes to classify you. That is how they forgive out where they can send you to make the most money off your sentence. That generally takes around a month it’s not a set in stone timeframe though. After your classified you might have to wait for a bed to open up at the institution you have been assigned. I’ve seen people sit in reception for over 6 months! Reception centers are the absolute worst.

It’s a self-pitying and/or nihilistic mindset that’s the bigger problem. Money and drugs in pocket and still breaking into somebody’s house… That doesn’t surprise me. I think it’s probably the norm.

You sir have never met my german shepard. Not only will she ignore a porterhouse thrown at her face (food trained), anyone stepping in her home uninvited will find out what what 250 psi of bite force feels like.

A lot of respect for Nerdrotic having the cojones to admit he was troubled and he needed to go to jail to get better, I've known many people who needed to hit rock bottom to finally gain control of their life.
