A little humor goes a long way when you're locked down. Some of these guys are tough as nails, but they appreciate it if you can surprise them by making them laugh. There was a big guy who called me a p*ssy. I shrugged. "You are what you eat. Y'know?" That caught him off guard, but he didn't smile. "Eat it a lot, do ya?", he asked me. "Yeah, started with my 4th grade teacher", I told him. His eyebrows furrowed & he said, "For real?" I told him, "Uh huh. Homeschooling in West Virginia sucks." He lost it and started laughing and I had a new friend.
It is really cool how open and honest he is about his past issues. What is also refreshing is he takes full responsibility for it, he doesn't blame society, he doesn't blame his parents, he blames himself for the path he went down and came out on the other side.
For many lower and middle class civilians who can’t afford decent lawyers, learning how to survive in prison might be a good life lesson to take with them should the worst case scenario happen.
Agree, and I've never been to jail/prison, and hope I never do, but in this crazy ass world we live in, you never know what might happen, as you very well could end up being thrown in for being at the wrong place at the wrong time, or just for some off color remark you said to someone on a bad day, and that gets you in a fight. So that's why over the years I've watched several channels on guys who did time in jail/prison, but turned their lives around after surviving, so I have a base idea of what to do, and what not to do.

Prison politics in California and most states west of the Rockies are different than the rest of the country. I was 19 with long blond hair when I went down. This is 1992 and I don't know anything about prison but the horrible rumors everyone hears. In California the whites and the Surenos, or Mexican gangs from Southern California, work together. They have a strict no homo policy. The second day I was in prison a guy who grew up in my town and was a member of the Nazi Lowriders( a white prison gang similar to the Aryan Brotherhood) came and had a talk with me. He told me right away that no one was going to try and fuck me and that if anyone did come and tell him and they would get dealt with. I never did cut my hair. They would whistle at me and call me Marcia Brady but no one ever laid a hand on me.
Interesting, most of us who got out and now live a normal career/family/mortgage life don’t like to talk this openly in public. I only did 6 months in the Navy/Marine brig for mayhem in 1999 and I’m pretty quiet about it. I was there for drunken mischief but there were some real bad criminals waiting to go on to long sentences in federal prison and there was a bit of rough housing
i knew there was a reason i liked him i got a bid too and with everybody saying stuff about prison his is they only the sounds real others make it like they was a boss but no you can see how they act on here wouldnt fly in prison his story is humble and real theres really no grape have to be in a max and most dont do that and if somebody does inmates usually get them first we dont go for that anywhere and inmates will help over that and i seen just two dudes who get together in peace in prison still gets it

took me a solid 3 and a half hours to finally get what film actor's guild meant
He clearly wanted to expand on why his roommate was such a horrible person and you totally missed that cue.
Did you all notice Gary rock and hold himself when mentioning his cell mate? Was clearly an awful memory.
Can someone explain the "Film Actors Guild" thing?
Take the first letter of each word and add them together, it will spell a new word.
@@eldnahym Lol I was thinking Jews. Never occurred it was an acronym, thanks.
what an authentic guy. Big fan.
Wait a minute, wouldn’t prisons have prison barbers? I mean, there’s gotta be some kind of grooming service.
It's prison dude, it's not an "on demand" type thing.
Some prisons have prison barbers. It depends on where the prison is, who owns the prison etc..
Even if it has a barber that doesn't mean you can drop what you're doing and go anytime.
