Bro Im almost done with the video and I gotta say I've always appreciated just how clearly you speak man. Not only are your vids super informative but also your diction is perfect and that makes watching these kinds of videos from you so enjoyable.
So glad you’re loving them! When they sent them to me to try out, I was SHOCKED. I was not expecting to love them so much but they’re so fun to work on and they translate extremely well. Even comparing these to my $13,000 ATC SCM25s and sub combo, these compete EXTREMELY well (especially since they’re 1/3 the price). These are my favorite monitors under $5k I’ve tried. Including barefoot, focal, Hedd, Adam, Amphion, etc. the most similar sounding would be something like Genelecs, but those are closer to $7-8k for the similar spec monitors to these.
I appreciate the time you take to define every little spec on the monitors and a big thank you for you my brother because it was at the audio nerds podcast where i heard you talk about fullsail and thanks to that im currently on scholarship at fullsail. Keep doing you thing man, we need more people like yourself in this industry. Mad love to the whole audio nerds crew as well.
If you haven’t yet you should really consider going right into the AES inputs skipping that extra stage of D/A could improve the performance of the monitors by a lot !
Loved the review, look forward to hearing your music that are mixed/mastered on the Fluids. I currently own the Adam 77 H's and would like if you could before you sale your 77H's and do a in depth review on them ??
I mean, if you can get the same image and depth out your mixes with Yamaha HS 8's why hunt for $4000 monitors? There are literally multimillion-dollar studios that use KRK Rokit 7/10s, Yamaha 8s and JBL 308p-MKii. Why do home studio owners reach for these expensive monitors? I don't get it (mad respect.) Here's what you need to keep in mind when buying Adams; They are freakishly super clinical. So perhaps your room were not tuned to suit them -- it's possible. Even with the fluids you own now, you need to retune your room for them to project the image even better. I will say it again, every time you get new speakers - you have to tune your room for your speakers to be happy. Thats by either adding or removing acoustic treatment. Your room and your monitors will always be in a marriage with one another. When there is no communication between couples or partners, your relationship or marriage will fall apart, right? That is how you need to look at the two. Big fan, love your work, stay blessed. Keep GOD in your heart bro! #SouthAfrica
I think the main problem you were having with the A77Hs is they may have been too big for your room. I've had the A77Xs for about 5 years now and been in a bigger 20x24 room for the past 2 years I finally have them dialed in and they sound amazing. Did a lot of experimenting with monitor and sub placement. Having a decent amount of sound absorption paired with room correction software helps tremendously. Whatever next set I get is definetly gonna have room correction IN the speaker. That's a gamechanger feature.🔥
You mean bigger as in the cabinet? Our woffer size? Because im not in a super small room my room is pretty reasonable. My thing is this i know my room and its issues. When i put these speakers up i really could hear the difference in clarity and detail. Alot of people are going to the room and i understand but if you put a pair KRK rokit 5's vs some PMC's in the greatest room on earth which do you think is going to sound better for you?
@HelpMeDevvon True, you may be right. Your room is not that small and looks like your ceiling height is higher than in my studio. I'm starting to now think that the seperation of low frequency information from the "direct fire" of higher frequencies is what makes the difference in that clarity especially in "non fully professionally acoustic treated rooms". I see the Fluid monitors (similar to the Barefoots and others) has woofers that fire to the side. This may "unclog" the sweet spot and offer more clarity. Reason I say that is because I'm getting clarity and "openness" I never got before and the main thing I did different was I moved my sub directly to the right of me (2ft off the wall) and lifted it off the floor almost to ear height. So in essence, my lows are seperated from directly firing into the sweet spot, similar to the "side firing" woofer monitors. I've also never could "feel" the lows until I made that change. I've been experimenting with monitor and sub placement off and on for the past year.
These are next level! Would also love to know what you think about “INCLINED Fidelity” studio monitors. Currently using HS8’s with the JS MOD and Arc Studio. Also drawing out the final design for some rock wool panels and bass traps! Love sound 🔊🔊🔊
I think these are in different league compared to A77H. I heard the latter one (never Fluid yet, unfortunately), but A77H is definitely lacks sub range. I could only imagine it with subwoofer, or in Atmos setup as a center monitor. A8H might be much closer to Fluid. : ) This Fluid seems to be well-designed and filled with features; nice! I have Neumann KH310, plan to buy KH 750 to allow the 310's breathe more in the bass range. Probably will be ideal in my current room (critical listening room is always a BIIIIG factor).
Hey bro thanks heaps for your video, really curious as to how these compare to the Neumann kh310. Could you please share any comparisons if you’ve heard those before?
Hey Devvon I’ve been using Adam A7x for years. I have an Adam sub as well. my mentor has like 10 Grammys all using them. Do you think I should switch? Oddly enough, I don’t love them but am very used to them. How hard was it to adjust to a new speaker?
Audionerd certfied. How do you position 3 way speakers like this? The tweeters pointing to the ears/ listing postions and the sub inside?? Wondering if the low lows are not cancelling out like that?
Have you ever tried the Adam A8H's? Just got them and about to setup my studio above the garage. I wanted a 3way and they had decent reviews. Did not know about these
Question, does havine regular 2-way monitors (tweeter + 5inch driver) paired with a studio subwoofer gives the same results? Considering most studio subwoofers have a crossover point at 150hz avg, so then the monitors just take care of the mids and highs?
Per monitor. You’ll essentially always see the price per monitor unless it specifically says “pair”. And I haven’t seen “per pair” a lot in this price range, actually never as far as I can remember.
Hearing and mixing if two different things. The real test is to mix on them and see how they translate. A lot of good sounding studio monitors out there that are not good for mixing.
HI! Can you hear a slight hiss from the tweeter of a77h? I do hear it from 5 or even 7 feet from mine, it"s like a white noise, and level of hiss arises with rising volume control at the back, and drops with lower volume. Nothing connected to speaker. Could you be so kind to check, does your pair hisses to?
2K is the majority killer of most sound systems that hurt your ears when leaving a venue...that's where that tinny note comes from... bring that down a little and you're usually good
The way people talk about monitors makes me think its more about how "good" they sound as opposed to how accurate they actually are. This is why I just mix with headphones into sonarworks with some room simulation.
Studio monitors accuracy at listening position can be measured quite easily, which is not the case with headphones. You'd need perfect model of your ears and ear canal to do that.
Nah people don’t take in account that we all are very different what u may like someone else may hate. NS10 aren’t the most accurate speaker on earth but for some people it gets the job done. Find the listening scenario that GETS YOU the best result 🙏🏽
So Fluid will actually ask your ear height and they will arrange the midnrange cone and tweeter to be optimal. Mine were set up to have the tweeter up as well, but they can situate the tweeter down from the factory and it performs the exact same. You just can’t go flipping them later unless you rearrange the parts.
I cant rwapect fluid. They basically copied/stole Barefoot footprint line. Even the design and software Only mixing mid frequencys (they have something called meme technology and does same oretone cubes sound, ns10 sound, hi-fi sound and flat monitor sound. They just changed tweeter to ribbon one. Try barefoots, oh i forgot this is sponsored...
Do you honestly think Devvon would give us a whole review on a product he didn’t stand behind just based on a sponsorship? And that he’s never been around some barefoot’s…..Come on now! 😭
There's always better speakers out there, doesn't mean you need to get it. Great music been made on desktop monitors speakers. Buy what you can afford. This is just marketing 😊
I wonder how much they're paying this man for this obvious product promotional video.Reason I say that is because that 'make pop music' cat actually recently purchased $10,000 speakers from sweetwater. There's a video on his page. The title 'changed my life' could be referring to the payout.🤣🤣🤣. Get your money dawg!
I didn't get paid a dime from Fluid. They sent me the speakers for free (which I disclosed), even after I told them I didn't need or want new monitors. I decided to try them out since they sent them anyway and really loved them so I wanted to share my thoughts. I could've easily kept them and NEVER posted about them. Companies send people with RUclips channels free gear all the time in hopes that we like it and share our thoughts with our audiences. Some companies WILL pay us cash to do an actual sponsored video, which are also always disclosed. And those are much more focused on product promotion and formatting content to showcase that specific item. With that said, Fluid is a new and small company, and they know that sending some trusted audio people some free monitors is a MUCH better investment for them rather than paying a ton in targeted ads (especially because they don't have a known name yet). It costs Fluid whatever these monitors cost to make in order to get them in the eyes of thousands, if not tens of thousands of people. Easy investment for them.

I was wondering why some people put the the AMT tweeter on the bottom and mid-driver on the top? I wonder what is the reason for that configuration?
the video editing is so good, i feel like i am watching MKBHD
man i need these!
