I went back and rewatched but want to make sure that you painted the paint/top coat mixture directly over the primer. So no other base coat of paint needed?
You might need to do a coat of paint if your primer doesn’t cover well but I was lucky and primer did the trick for me. Primer is more sheer than paint so you might get away with fewer coats using paint though. I did about 3 coats of primer on the purple dresser and just one on the white
I must admit I doubted you on these tables. They looked cheap and not worth fooling with. Wow! What a transformation! They are beautiful! Good job girl!
OMG, I've been looking for affordable nightstands for over a year now! these look PERFECT for my space!!! I'm definitely going to try this out... thank you so much for sharing this DIY!
WOW!! These look BEAUTIFUL!! Love how your daughter “assists” and is encourage to use those mechanical and creative brain cells. Personally I don’t like brass because it was so overused in the 1970s (I am a baby boomer) so I would have used black handles but I must admit the brass looks good too. I would keep this channel a furniture channel. We can watch both channels
I found your channel a few months ago, and it's been a game changer! I used this technique on a terrible looking 1970s veneer round side table that I bought on marketplace, and it looks amazing!
The gold hardware is perfect. You are so clever and definitely talented Shannon, you can look past the faults furniture & create budget friendly yet stylish furniture.
I’d love to see your mood boards and plans for the new house! Don’t overthink creating a whole other channel. You can always just create a furniture refinishing, grocery shopping etc, play list on your existing. Keep it simple. 🤗 Wow, love the lamp hack at the end! You’re so creative!
Great job and totally elevated those nightstands. I would leave the brass--I prefer that to the higher contrast of black with the colors you used. Please keep doing furniture and perhaps add in small bits of staging if you wish, much as you did in this video.
Usually when I see people flip furniture, I don't love it. But this is INCREDIBLE! the best thing and technique Ive ever seen! Thank you for such an amazing video. I can't wait to try this
I LOVE THIS!! CAN YOU PLEASE make a video on how you clean your brushes and supplies! I struggle SO HARD with cleaning paint/stain etc out of my brushes and would love to see your way of doing it!! Love your videos!
I think so many people are doing lifestyle in their channels. People really enjoy seeing other people's lives! I would put everything on here :) I would definitely watch
So glad I found your channel, your projects are gorgeous and gives me the hope I can do my own. Also it’s great that your daughter is included in your videos.
I’ve been trying to find something to work for my nightstands that are budget friendly and oh my god…. I’m doing this exact look! Thank you so much for sharing this 😊
I’m trying to incorporate an Older Thomasville tower (real wood) and new Murphy bed which looks like it has an IKEA finish. Once I sand and primed the wood cabinet. Could I use the same technique on both? Thanks in advance 😊
Wow, love that technique definitely going to do that one! I love mixing paint & making it my own, when someone asks, " wow, what color is that?" It's nice to say, mine!
You have me so inspired! I gathered up all the necessities that you mentioned and I’m painting tables right now. Next I’m going to do my bedroom furniture. Thank you so much for the inspiration!
Young lady you did an amazing job.. you make it so easy to follow your instructions. I totally enjoy watching you video and seeing the finish projects.. upscale it is. Keep the gold handles it looks so rich and classy. Maybe a very light aged white wash look.. thank you so much!!
I have been searching and searching for a way to update old rustic furniture and I think I’ve found it! Thank you so much for breaking down the beautiful pottery barn dupe!
I kept holding my breath when you were stirring and pouring paint right next to the new handles. I would have gotten white primer all over them. Whew! Love the finish and the GOLD. :)
I have transformed an old (ugly) hutch I got for free. All of my ideas came from watching your videos. Only I used the hand broom technique along with your deck brush to soften the blend. . I also used some old paint I had laying around the house. I didn’t really care because the hutch was free but it turned out fabulous, thanks to you. ❤️ PS please…you are not lazy by not stenciling the outside drawers as most other furniture artists do. As a would be buyer, I could care less about that.
I’m glad this channel inspired you to create!!! I too favor using the deck staining brush to soften it ❤️ I’m exclusively using 1/2 paint 1/2 clear coat as my “glaze/gel stain” now bc it’s so much easier to get the colors I want and use oops paints I buy discount or have laying around.
I think as always you created an amazing set of nightstands for what will be your new home! I'm so happy for you with the new home and congratulations! I do watch your furniture obviously, but I would be more than happy to see you do room makeovers, decor shop with me home stuff on this channel. A second channel might be something other people would like, but I would like to see it all in one place just so I don't miss the other stuff 🤔 If that makes any sense at all 🙄❣️ I truly love the large gold hardware on those two pieces, but really the overall look is going to come when you put it into the room with the other pieces you have so I can't wait to see what you're going to do with these once they're in the room with your other pieces 💯👍❣️💯😍❣️❣️❣️
Wow! Beautiful work! I love the gold handles, I love the color, and I would LOVE vlogs and decorating videos from you! My 2 cents, include your vlogs and non refinishing videos on this channel. Cheers!!!
Great video! I like how you talk about salvaging cheap furniture because I have a lot of that in our house! I was a little nervous watching you paint the top of the dresser in your fuzzy sweater and with the neck strings hanging down☺️!
I've been watching for a while and really enjoy your content. I've never commented until now, but I want to specifically respond to your question about whether you should put new content on this channel. Everything I am hearing from all of the RUclips influencers is that content that goes a different direction should go on a different channel, especially with the huge boom in creators since the pandemic. It is especially important now to niche down on your content so that you're going after a specific audience. I hope that helps, and thanks again for creating really good content that is helpful for people who want to create things to sell and to improve our homes. Really appreciate what you do! -Cara
Just beautiful results on bargain furniture, esp. when you get them used. I love the look as is. IMO, with black handles it would look nice, but too modern for my own taste. These are my style as is. Thx for the scoop. I have the perfect Ikea night stand to try it out on.
Shannon, I have a question for you. This has to be one of my favorite techniques that you do. I have achieved this look on smaller pieces but I just recently(month or 2ago) did this on a coffee table top. I m not liking the uneven stripes. Do I need to sand off the polycyclic in order to start all over? Meaning paint the base then the glaze or just get away doing the glaze over. Hope this makes sense. Thank you for your time.
I just found you! Your videos are great! I love how you simplify the process and explain so well. It would help me if you would explain the paint in more detail, I've mixed water based over oil base or some kind of hot mess, so it's helpful to clarify if it's acrylic or whatever it is, Thank you for your content!
Wow i was planning on getti g rid of one i had down cellar bc theyre not sturdy at all but u have inspired me!!! I will try this first as a trial and error thanks to this gem!! 🤩
This is the look for my next project. I was ecstatic when I saw your way of replicating the “pottery barn” look without a glaze. Can’t wait to try this. 🤎🤍 PS.. love your channel. 🌸
I was curious why you don’t take the drawers out. I used to take out the drawers and paint the outside of the drawers on the side with a cute peekaboo color maybe just a coffee color would be good for this piece. I did a gray nightstand ones for my bedroom and my accent color is yellow so I painted the sides of the drawers… Yellow obviously. Most people don’t see it but when they do (if I sold it) they think it’s extra and very charming.
Gosh!!! I painted the same Ikea nightstands this week( a little bit darker and with black iron hardware) my bedroom is so similar to this one in video! The frames, black lamps...
@@blacksheephouse That makes perfect sense!! Thank you!!
I love how you painted these
I must admit I doubted you on these tables. They looked cheap and not worth fooling with. Wow! What a transformation! They are beautiful! Good job girl!
I also love that you don't talk too much and , or, drag things out. To the point with your pics, and topic. Thank you!!
I would love to hire your assistant! She seems very experienced! Such a cute mini me you have!
OMG, I've been looking for affordable nightstands for over a year now! these look PERFECT for my space!!! I'm definitely going to try this out... thank you so much for sharing this DIY!
I love that you are teaching your little girl to use tools! Much more useful than playing with dolls, in my opinion!
They look so good! I love the gold handles and wouldn’t change the finish! Perfection!
I would keep them just like you did them. What an improvement, they turned out beautiful. Like your painting technique. Great job. Leta from Canada
I found your channel a few months ago, and it's been a game changer! I used this technique on a terrible looking 1970s veneer round side table that I bought on marketplace, and it looks amazing!

Such a great tip about drilling the new holes before filling the old ones!
I love it! A true “trash to treasure “ transformation!
OMGosh I Love your little helper...she is Adorable!!!
These are awesome. I prefer black with that neutral tones. You are so talented.
Great job and totally elevated those nightstands. I would leave the brass--I prefer that to the higher contrast of black with the colors you used. Please keep doing furniture and perhaps add in small bits of staging if you wish, much as you did in this video.

Love seeing how sweet and patient you are with your little one…and great work on the tables!
I think so many people are doing lifestyle in their channels. People really enjoy seeing other people's lives! I would put everything on here :) I would definitely watch
So glad I found your channel, your projects are gorgeous and gives me the hope I can do my own. Also it’s great that your daughter is included in your videos.
This is pretty amazing. I don’t usually care for Gold but it looks so good here.
I’ve been trying to find something to work for my nightstands that are budget friendly and oh my god…. I’m doing this exact look! Thank you so much for sharing this 😊
Really like them just the way you have them. They look modern and cool! So nice, especially considering what you have in them.
Well done, and totally agree on your thinking for IKEA furniture it’s not meant to last forever
I love that you and your daughter work together, the paint finish looks great, I would never have thought of that ❤
They turned out really good, love the handles. Add design videos to this channel, you will have automatic viewers.
I’m trying to incorporate an Older Thomasville tower (real wood) and new Murphy bed which looks like it has an IKEA finish. Once I sand and primed the wood cabinet. Could I use the same technique on both? Thanks in advance 😊
They do look like Pottery Barn nightstands! Love love love!!!
They look amazing--and the gold tone-on-tone with the finish looks very sophisticated.
You have a great little helper there! So adorable!!
Wow, love that technique definitely going to do that one! I love mixing paint & making it my own, when someone asks, " wow, what color is that?" It's nice to say, mine!
Most gorgeous Rast transformation!
You have me so inspired! I gathered up all the necessities that you mentioned and I’m painting tables right now. Next I’m going to do my bedroom furniture. Thank you so much for the inspiration!
Super happy and proud of you Kyser woman!!! Love from Pawnee Oklahoma
If the dresser I have is already white do I need to paint over it with the primer?
Young lady you did an amazing job.. you make it so easy to follow your instructions. I totally enjoy watching you video and seeing the finish projects.. upscale it is. Keep the gold handles it looks so rich and classy. Maybe a very light aged white wash look.. thank you so much!!
Did I miss it…did you mention what that pink brush is and where you got it?
And………answered 🤦🏼♂️
I have been searching and searching for a way to update old rustic furniture and I think I’ve found it! Thank you so much for breaking down the beautiful pottery barn dupe!
Awwww, cute little helper!
I love your excitement, when you say “Oh yeah!”, it makes me smile 😊 Thank you for the tutorial!!
Great hob! I'm so glad that you used a product that I can go to my local store and purchase today! Keep up the good work.
Omg!! I love this!!! Perfect as is. Lo e the gold handles!!!!
I kept holding my breath when you were stirring and pouring paint right next to the new handles. I would have gotten white primer all over them. Whew! Love the finish and the GOLD. :)
You have very quickly become one of my favorite furniture flipping channels. ❤️
They look amazing, keep the gold. Love the color
Great job. I loved it when just the drawers were brushed.
Congratulations on your new place! The dressers look beautiful! Either color handles would look nice. Thanks for the ideas.
Such a fabulous high end look in the end! Love it!
Omg you have the cutest helper…
I hope you kept them as they are……which is STUNNING!

Awesome makeover! I haven’t seen a technique like this before, will definitely have to try it out!

I like the gold. And this finish makes the attention you pay to the pieces palpable.
Love love that wood grain look, unique to you as I have not seen anybody else doing this. Definitely going to try this!
What a great little helper ❤
Wow what a transformation Could you tell us roughly how much you spent on them Thank you xx
Wow beautiful job. I love the gold pulls.
Shannon, I have a question for you. This has to be one of my favorite techniques that you do. Do I need to sand off the polycyclic in order to start all over? Meaning paint the base then the glaze or just get away doing the glaze over. Hope this makes sense. Thank you for your time.
Nicely done Shannon! I would stay with the gold handles and leave the paint as you have done.
Gorgeous!! Love them just the way they are. Well done!
I just found you! Your videos are great! I love how you simplify the process and explain so well. It would help me if you would explain the paint in more detail, I've mixed water based over oil base or some kind of hot mess, so it's helpful to clarify if it's acrylic or whatever it is, Thank you for your content!
I definitely love the Gold hardware you chose. Go with that instead of black.
Wow i was planning on getti g rid of one i had down cellar bc theyre not sturdy at all but u have inspired me!!! I will try this first as a trial and error thanks to this gem!! 🤩
I can’t believe what you did to those!! ❤️❤️
Thanks for doing these videos, the solid colors are cool but I like the wood look and was not sure how to do it.
This is the look for my next project. I was ecstatic when I saw your way of replicating the “pottery barn” look without a glaze. Can’t wait to try this. 🤎🤍
PS.. love your channel. 🌸
They’re perfect just the way they are...!!!!!
Looks great!!! Your little helper is so sweet! I don’t think she would mind you using her broom. 😉
❤️
What a transformation! Absolutely beautiful! I love the color and gold handles.
Love the gold hardware.
Reminiscent of “comb painting” on antique paint decorated furniture ❤️
I love this honey color dresser with the gold handles.
I love this so much. I have two wooden nightstands I can't figure out how to beautify, this is it!!
It’s gorgeous! Defo my next project
Thank you! This was informative, helpful and very relaxing to watch :) The finished drawers are beautiful.
Great job and I like your little helper 🙋🏾♀️💕
I love your technique ❤ do you add any chalk paint powder for adhesion ? How do you make your paint not to peel off ?
I was curious why you don’t take the drawers out.
I used to take out the drawers and paint the outside of the drawers on the side with a cute peekaboo color maybe just a coffee color would be good for this piece. I did a gray nightstand ones for my bedroom and my accent color is yellow so I painted the sides of the drawers… Yellow obviously. Most people don’t see it but when they do (if I sold it) they think it’s extra and very charming.
Looks amazing. I would stick with the gold. Makes them look very high end
I love what you did with these Rast dressers.
For the paint and varnish, so you mix it half and half?
Thank you! ❤
This really is quite genius! It looks so well done
Gosh!!! I painted the same Ikea nightstands this week( a little bit darker and with black iron hardware) my bedroom is so similar to this one in video! The frames, black lamps...
Love the handles
These turned out sooo good!!!
Just discovered your channel 2 out of 2 saved videos for later reference. I love all your ideas! Thank you!
