  • I've been putting off changing the DCT transmission oil on my F10 M5 for awhile now because I wanted to do the full flush but wasn't sure how to use ISTA+. It turned out to be quite straight forward. Hopefully this video helps you with your DCT oil change!

Very helpful. Great camera positions and video quality. Audio was excellent as was the demonstration. Thank you for sharing this.

So glad you’ve put this video online as I’m hoping to do this myself in the near future. Keep up the great content! 👍

I really appreciate you putting this tutorial up; I used it to change my gearbox oil over the weekend. I 100% agree that having a good set of large snap ring pliers is a must. I decided to go ahead on the job with my small pliers with the interchangeable head (fully expecting them to break). Although I eventually got them to work (and they didn't break!), it took about 30 minutes of fiddling. That snap ring is a beast and a large set of snap ring pliers makes the job much easier.
The only other thing I would add is to make sure you have a device that can get fluid into the gearbox relatively quickly. I had a cheap handpump thing, and when doing the ISTA oil balancing, I couldn't get the additional 2L of oil into the gearbox in time before it reached 40C. I had to redo the process again the next day. The pump you show in this video probably works great, so I'd recommend anyone doing this job get something similar and not attempt it with a handpump like I did.

Heads up to you mate. Just 1 thing. Try get the car higher next time your under and you wont drop everything and stuff flying all over. Bit higher you can get both arms in 1 to pull of push one to steady.!!!

I was doing a transmission pan procedure on my 2015 428i once with the ZF8 speed and I was purposefully taking long to do it and by time I had to do the fill procedure, temp was at 52C. I did drive the car around before and it took me 5 or so hours to do the manual labor part. Transmission temperature takes a long long time to go down.

Great video! Currently Looking into a 2013 M5, what mileage intervals should the DCT fluid be changed?

Nice video, I'm going to do it over the weekend :) the pliers which you used at 2:55 are for external type of snap rings, that is why they didn't work for this internal snap ring :)

Thanks. The pliers were actually the cheap interchangeable internal/external style ones. It’s not strong enough to remove the snap ring.

@@WillsGarageOfficial I agree, those wouldn’t have the strength, I have them too :)
