- Uvalde Mayor Don McLaughlin addressed angry families and the media after the Texas House Investigative Committee released its report on the Uvalde school shooting.
The mayor also released body camera footage from seven Uvalde PD officers who responded to the mass shooting on May 24. saying he held off on releasing the videos at the direction of District Attorney Christina Mitchell.
I wouldn’t have the nerve to give attitude to families who lost their kids. These officials are a disgrace.

I have not saw one person in authority in that town do their job. If that mayor spoke to me like I have heard him speak to families who lost their children, dur to the mayors employee not doing his job, I can assure you these parents have been better than me. This is a shame that this man can even think of being this ruff with these families. He stood up for a man that let 19 kids and 2 teachers die right in front of him, and this man has the nerve to talk to these families like this. He needs to go also. Hes just as sorry as the POS who let these kids die.

In this case, it's not just about firing the cops who didnt act, it's about prosecuting them for criminal negligence and other such charges.
Accountability = Justice
Many of these poor people are justifiably angry, but they have such poor education themselves, they don't know how to express themselves clearly, much less nail the main points, culprits & strategies to address them and demand justice. NRA? Ak47? How many Uvalde police officers are NRA members whose dues go toward NRA pro-AK47 lobby or supporting mass sales of whatever weapon killed their children?

Without a properly educated populace, there is no full exercise of Democracy. Their cognitive oppression and limitations of these people is impeding their ability to take effective action and to prevent.
Get to the main underlying issues here to put a stop to the madness once and for all, because meanwhile, the NRA and arms manufacturers/defense industry are laughing all the way to the bank, as well as whoever else is behind the ongoing US psyops that hook in and manipulate these marginal nutcases online into committing these mass shootings.
Why is US intelligence not addressing who is behind the psyops, shutting down the NRA and permanently addressing these underlying issues, if their mandate is public safety? It is likely that terrorists and enemies of state are grooming these mass shooters online, while pumping the gun lobby: the "perfect storm." Investigate, expose, address, resolve.

Why is USA the only place in the world where mass shootings, including among them school shootings, happen on a monthly, weekly, daily basis?

The fact the town gave the police force almost 50% of the budget really makes me wonder just how far the corruption goes

The Mayor needs to realize that these families are angry, upset, and confused as to how this was able to happened. This is the time to be humble and show some sympathy towards these families.

You realise he's the mayor of a small town and has limited power. If you watched from the start, he has stood front and centre and at least engaged with the townspeople. The rest of the country and those in charge have ignored them or the school board; I haven't seen them addressing the public. The people who could make change are keeping quiet so they don't get dragged in further. Think of how many agencies are in damage control mode.

@@CeeCeeB. There is plenty of failure to go around. I'm sure the parents are sick, that they didn't pass the US Lockdown Security System, for their schools. They said it was a waste of money. Ramos, had little cousins in that school. So he knew what the lunch schedule was. And he knew, that was the last day of school, so they'd be having their Award Programs. Ramos shot up, the room where he went to 4th grade.

@@CeeCeeB. The Chief of Police, was on vacation that day. You might be referring to The Chief of the School Resource Officers, Chief Arrandondo. It was the Parents, that voted down the security system upgrades and any new radio's. So, there's that. The Mayor, he's just going off of the Information he was given. Don't know if he responded to the scene that day. It was chaotic. Too many Officers poising for the camera's. I'm sure the Mayor, is just as 'put-out' as the families are. I'm sure they are all still in the first stages of grief. Sad, very sad.

Seems he is answering as honestly as possible and from the heart - along with frustration (this is his community)... I hope Uvalde can see that this “Mayor” is not equipped to do his job. There is a clear lack of professionalism and decorum when he comes to these meetings. He never has answers for anything and points the finger at other people while claiming he’s not responsible for anything. What’s he good for? He needs to go. To say that he’s not going to stand at the door and ask the families if they lost a child in order to give them access to the meeting, is a huge failure on his part. He should know all the parents and guardians for each of the victims and the children of the adults who were murdered. If he can’t remember he should study a notebook every night to memorize them. That’s what elected government officials should do when an atrocity like this happens.

What he is saying is he can't be bothered with worrying about some of the family members of children that were slain. He has to address the release of a video that he wanted edited before being released. He is angry that he was coasting along being the big man in a small town and now these people want to hold him accountable. I know I have always found that baffling! But, no not Uvalde Cops! I'd never want to live in Uvalde. I came from a small village in NY where there were Politics all the time and still is. My parents still live there. So, I understand what goes on in these small towns. But this is insanity. Everyone wants to throw everyone under the bus. It seems like some of these moms didn't want 2 of the biological fathers at the Commitee. 2 of the fathers said they were NOT let in. The step-father has been very proactive on TV.
I feel like he’s doing that because the director of DPS didn’t want to participate in the cover-up and all of these politicians and police employees in Uvalde are taking it personally.
Had Uvalde police done what they should have done, DPS would not have had time to get there. More lives would have been saved and he wouldn't have his feelings hurt by DPS who came in and took the shooter out.
The governor needs to step in and expedite this process. It shouldn't take another 9 months to find out all the facts. These parents deserve answers.

The mayor has been mad at the director of DPS for speaking out; that's why he and the others are trying to spread the blame around so as to take some of the heat off of Arredondo. They all failed, but Arredondo was one of the first officers to arrive only 3 minutes after the gunman got inside.
Although the gunman did not enter through a propped-open door, the report made it appear that it was the teachers and other school staff who cause the gunman to enter when it was a lock on the door that didn't work.
The School Resource Officer is primarily responsible for school security, since he's supposed to patrol the inside and outside of the school and do safety checks.
The report also blamed video games and poor parenting, even though other countries have those same problems, but not weekly mass shootings.
The report was full of Republican talking points and never once mentioned guns, beause then the politicians and NRA would have to share the blame.
The report was put out to serve their interest, not the families.
No one knows anything there. It's legit unbelievable to watch.

Actually this councilman was right 1:19 they were not chickens. A mother hen is very protective of the chicks and will peck, scratch and kick a predator that goes after them. A roster will fight even more aggressively to the death if needed to protect the hens and the young. So no those cops were not chickens. Tbf there were a lot of lies and things without context “leaked”. Like the guy checking his phone, his wife was one of the teachers killed and she had been texting him before she passed. Pretty sad, and he was getting harassed for checking his phone, for messages from his dying wife.
It's a sad video, but it just shows how bad the cops response was and made then look bad. It looks like they were trying to stall and I do remember hearing they didn't want the video posted, for probably obvious reasons. Now that it's posted they can't hide.
