  • High school students can pursue several different types of diplomas as they strive to graduate. The State of Indiana requires at least a Core 40 diploma where students must earn 40 credits while passing a specific set of required and rigorous classes. In addition, students can earn an Academic Honors or Technical Honors diploma that requires a student to earn at least 47 credits and pass even a more rigorous set of courses. The state does allow students who may struggle to earn a Core 40 or an Honors diploma to earn a General diploma, which still requires a student to earn 40 credits, but it also requires a student to meet a formal opt-out process. In Greater Clark, 82.6% of our students earn a Core 40 or Honors diploma. This is a 3.3% increase from the previous year. In fact, the percentage of students earning an Honors diploma increased four percent over the previous year - increasing from 25 to 29 percent. We are committed to increasing our Honors diplomas so at least one-third of our students earn that distinction. Our high school counselors will continue to work with students and families as soon as students enter high school to assist our students in reaching that goal.
