    We are back on day 2 at the snake pond trying to finish up this bush hogging with the MTL XCT. We got the 3.5 acres done but as I was finishing up the John Deere 329E threw a code for the diesel fuel overheating so we had to drop it off at the shop. Hopefully she's ok!

    I don't know why it is so satisfying to watch the brush hog working this way, but I got the same satisfaction when we were having the railroad right of way mowed, when I was a section foreman. I guess it is the way the land looks after the cutting is done.

    The code is because you are putting the pump under to much stress. Y'all need to keep the engine from bogging down. If the engine ain't stressed, the pump ain't stressed. Don't let the engine bog down to hard and you'll be fine.

    Believe it or not I find these types of videos satisfying and relaxing. I can only imagine how many snakes and such get chopped up in that. I would have both this and that super cruncher machine that just crunches small trees and what not. Seen it in another video where the guy was clearing the edges of a lake.

    You will be fine brother. That tall grass is a ton of stress on the engine and it builds up in your particulate exhaust. Just run a force regen to burn up all the unburned diesel in the exhaust..
    great job.

    • @historicbeef
      @historicbeef 2 года назад

      ? High stress equal high exhaust temperature. So the dpf itself should be able to do a passive regeneration while operating. Under normal conditions and clean air filters.

    • @easttexasengineering3489
      @easttexasengineering3489 2 года назад

      @@historicbeef actually having been designing engines you are correct in normal towing applications where engine rpm and fuel are running parallel. In this case your statement doesn’t really apply. Running Lean (low fuel to high air ratio) causes engine heat, in this type of equipment the hydraulic system forces engine rpm to stall but not the fuel system. Yes it increases the heat in the combustion system but not burning all the excess fuel due to lack of rpm. This clogs the exhaust DPF. The system is only designed to burn off 75hp worth of UN-burned fuel for his unit. However that’s also in a optimal condition which is not under continuous load of UN-burned fuel.
      I hope this helps brother..
      Good chat man.

    • @idigit4967
      @idigit4967  2 года назад +1

      Yeah I let it idle down after it threw the code but when it threw the code it wasn’t running hot. The engine temp was in the middle of the gauge. It was saying the fuel in the tank was getting hot, not necessarily the engine.

    • @timziegler9358
      @timziegler9358 2 года назад

      @@idigit4967 When mowing in late summer heavy brush/pollen conditions you need to clear your filters more often. Your engine codes will react slower to over heating and then suddenly. More preemptive maintenance is necessary. You do a fine job for your clients. Best wishes.

    Use to work for the county road crew when I was a kid. 80 horse Ford tractors with 6 foot bushhog on the right side. Hydraulic driven. Cant be stopped. Would literally cut through anything. Anyway, the setup is two of these tractors cutting one side of the road. One up front to cut the right away and another behind to finish up to the tree line. Well, one day me another guy was cutting this country road. His name was CJ. CJ for County Jail. Yes, he was an idiot. He was up front doing the first pass when I noticed he would look at me, grin, and look back to where he was mowing. He did this several times when all of sudden animal parts come flying out from his mower. The dumb ass had run over a dead dog laying on the side of the road. It was awful. The smell was beyond belief not to mention the sight of it. None of it got on me thank God. I think I would still be throwing up if it did.
