- Setting goals for your art career is so so important. It helps us focus our energy and gain clarity on our journey and next steps. The past few years have been so full of chaos, but I've never been closer to achieving my dream of becoming a full time artist.

Hello Kelsey! Found you recently and have been really enjoying your videos, so thank you for making them :).
My overarching goals for the year are to develop and stay consistent with an art and content system/habit, create physical and digital products and offerings outside of original work, and get some basic fitness back into my life to help me keep making art for a long time to come.
I’ve been doing the offline art thing locally for the past few months which has been great, and I had a confidence boost after putting myself out there and selling several pieces, but I know that my longtime goals are very much so online.
While I’ve dipped my toes in the world of RUclips multiple times in the past (before I really landed on a path I’d stick with), my biggest goal is to jump all in for 2022 and create the foundation for the rest of my creative career.
Didn’t mean for this comment to turn into my TEDX talk, lol, but I hope you’ve enjoyed some or all of it. 😅

I know I can make it but sometimes its SO TOUGH when it feels like everyone is concerned and scared to push you to go forward. It's very lonely and scary, but I knew thats what I always wanted. your comment totally makes sense and your English is legit perfect! Would never have been able to tell that it wasn't your first language. I'm really really glad my content is helping you, that's the primary goal of my channel-- to help people feel comfortable and informed enough to make the choice to pursue their own art career. You're brave for pursuing your dreams, stick with it and see where it takes you!
I really like the idea of having goals outside of your control as predictions instead. I focus more on those than the things that are in my control and get disappointed/defeated easily, so I’ll try to look at it that way instead 😊
My goals for the new year are to put out more RUclips content, do more traditional art and try more art mediums/products, and my biggest one is to reach monetization on RUclips, or at least make big strides to get there. I *might* be getting an art table in a better lit area in my room, so I’m hoping to up the quality in my video content overall.
I used to be exactly like this! Creating goals surrounding metrics and then wanting to quit when I didn’t reach them. That was the impetus behind the change 🥰 As for monetization, I absolutely believe you can do it! Mastering lighting & doing search focused content were the two big factors behind my growth. If natural light isn’t possible, a cheap set of photography lights with diffusers is 100% worth the investment! Makes a big difference. 💕🌼

this has so much value, not only for the tools that you're sharing, but also for inspiring and making others feel capable of persuing an art career. I'm a filmmaker and this is very useful to me as well

A little nugget from this year's goal planning. *Don't plan everything or every single moment because, unexpected curbed can be thrown at us. Last of August till the beginning of December.
Thank you Kelsey I’m a beginner artist and I want to start up my own journey. I’m much later in age so I felt like I couldn’t do much or anything, but I was like heck if I never start I never know. So I’m grateful for your videos. Also love this because of your process I’m realizing as a teacher I do the same thing. Now I just need to sit down set it and do it.
This is a really helpful video! And much better than doing New Years “resolutions”. As a new art RUclips this really helps me plan my time so I can do it all, whilst working full time

It’s nice and super helpful to see goal setting broken down properly like this. I usually struggle to make my goals realistic or even write them down in the first place 😫😂 I like your positive attitude of saying when instead of if regarding your income goals! The prediction part makes so much sense, it really helps alleviate a lot of anxiety by breaking down goals depending on what you can and can’t control. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Acrylics are so much fun! Get a wet palette for sure! It will help save your paints. :-)
Absolutely! I have a mediocre airtight palette for my gouache but I'll definitely get a good one for acrylics when I take that leap!

Thank you! I'm trying to do a detailed plan for my own art, now that I'm releasing fear of other people's opinions. This helped me see art goals. And, wait, you can design washi tape? How do you do that?? I tend to have issues following through with the plans.
I have no idea how to design washi tape! But artists like Natalie Andrewson and Radha Rahman are doing it, so there’s gotta be a way. It’ll probably be a video when I figure out how it all works. On following through, paying for a pricey course or making a bet with a friend is one way to add stakes to the goal, but making my progress toward my end a habit/system has been the best system for me 💕

Hey Kelsey! I found your RUclips not to long ago from search, I’m glad I found you! It’s really cool seeing an essentially ‘behind the scenes’ of making art content on RUclips! I took the leap this year to start my RUclips, my goal this year is to complete a year of weekly videos (52 to be exact!) and finish a sketchbook (I have many half filled sketchbooks)! I’ve watched a few of your videos and they’ve been so helpful including this one so thank you! Keep doing what you’re doing and I hope 2022 brings you joy :)
Those are great goals! A year of consistent videos is a perfect way to start building an audience and learn how to make good video content- that’s about how long it took me to start becoming more confident on camera. hi!! my name is Bee, i was wondering if you have any tips for finishing/long term motivation for stuff like business stuff and art stuff? i have severe adhd and im struggling.
I don't have adhd, but if you're super struggling with long term motivation you should probably consider medication! nothing wrong with it and it can help a lot of people! My boyfriend takes medication for his executive dysfunction and it's done wonders for him!
