@@lunch2102 I enjoyed the show overall, but really it was held up solely on the shoulders of Wednesday and the rest of the students. Gomez and Morticia were fuckin awful, Pugsley was basically just cast to have someone stand there and be Pugsley for five minutes. Fester sounded like he took a shot of helium before every one of his scenes. Christina Ricci character angle was awful and she looked horrible. The psychiatrist looked terrible, dunno what the fuck they did to her. The final antagonist looked like shit. The "Hyde" looked absolutely ridiculous, like a super jacked Gollum with even more bulging eyes. The sheriff and the principal were alright. The best part of the show is definitely Wednesday, Enid, and Thing.
professional cellist here! even tho she can’t play probably more than suzuki book 1 level things, she is doing a fantastic job trying to appear to play! she’s in the correct positions most of the time! i respect her effort for such a small part! please be respectful and remember she is an actress and not a cellist! i live her effort for this!
i’m fairly positive that jenna ortega had to learn cello(and a myriad of other things) for this character. i read that somewhere, but feel free to prove me wrong
I’m so impressed and respecting of Netflix for this. They made the cello scenes actually look real. As a violinist, the musical instrument scenes are usually lazy and fake. Great job to Netflix!
@@Schmacks Yes it does, but you can't possibly expect an actress to match such fast notes at the left hand with the bow movements when she had no prior experience with the cello. All the other cuts look realistic and believable, and at the end of Paint it Black she even mimicked vibrato, which really isn't as easy as it looks. You can even notice a proper trill that's perfectly on time at the end of the very section you're criticizing. Overall the dedication to fit the bow movements and a few position changes from the left end was not exhaustive, but certainly commendable. You can clearly see effort went into it, but you can only go as far before needing a stunt double. Jenna did it all herself and this is extremely impressive. Source : I'm a violinist.
@@louisesolft113 no but i play guitar used to play upright bass. Im not saying the exact notes are fake as hell, but her hand movements make it obvious shes not actually playing it
Hi, cellist here. This is probably a rumor that is a bit stretched. She did take some lessons for a little while, and what she's doing is very believable, but calling it "learning to play" in two months is a bit of a stretch. First off, it's almost impossible to make any significant progress in two months as a beginner, especially with little prior musical experience. Saying that though, She put in a tremendous amount of effort to make it appear very realistic, which she does a fine enough job of doing for everyone who is not a cellist and therefore is not afflicted with the horrible curse of knowing better. Some of the positions and whatnot in her left hand are even somewhat correct, which is not in any way easy to replicate. Most shows (and actors for that matter) are not anywhere near this dedicated, so it is comforting to know they put in some effort. But, to be clear, this is by no means truly learning how to play. Unfortunately, media is taking this the entirely wrong way, and spreading around the rumor that she learned two very difficult songs in two months. That Vivaldi movement she is shown playing is HARD, like REALLY HARD, and Paint It Black is by no means easy either. She can definitely do some of the introductory songs that every cellist learns to start out, but that's about it. But, for an actress to commit to the bit to this degree is refreshing, and I certainly respect her all the more for it.
RIGHT??? i’m a cellist and i don’t think i could’ve faked a bow hold that well in my first two months. especially if i was learning lines and preparing for a netflix series
