  • Relative Motion in One dimension is an extremely important topic using which many short-cut tricks can be applied in solving multiple choice questions for JEE & NEET preparation. Most of MCQs asked in JEE & NEET exam from the topic of kinematics in which two bodies are moving can be quickly solved using the concept of relative motion. In this video Ashish Arora sir has explained a concept of relative motion which is very important and sometimes confusing for students while solving the case of two bodies moving toward each other and retarding with uniform acceleration.
Concepts of relative motion improves the problem solving approach for competitive examination and strengthen the applications of motion in one dimension. This video explains the fundamentals used to solve the problems of motion in a straight line quickly by using concept of relative motion.

Sir in the PG book Vol1 Mechanics, in Kinematics, in illustrative example 1.32 (under relative motion) a question of 2 trains colliding was given. The soln to this qn was done using relative velocity, but this is also the case like cars colliding. So how can we use relative velocity ?
