Diamonds actually also decrease in value. I have an $18K stone that when I went to look at selling I could get $6000 for. It’s a real diamond. Jewelry is just highly marked up and the valuations done are really only for insurance purposes. So what insurance will pay if you lose it, and what you can sell it for are VERY different. I keep trying to convince my daughter to go with moissanite for this reason.
I'm sorry you overpaid 12k on your diamond. That does not mean the value went down. You got scammed thats it. Moissanite has a zero dollar resell value
Unfortunately that just means you got scammed… sure, diamond resale values can fluctuate a bit but that amount of decrease is pretty much unheard of (I am a hobby jeweler and GIA certified gemologist) I will be wearing a moissanite when I eventually get engaged.
I chose a moissanite too because of our restricted budget. It's been a little over two years since we purchased it and it's still flawless and beautiful. I have no regrets of choosing a moissanite instead for a diamond! I absolutely love my engagement ring!
@@oneandonly3139 I got my Moissanite wedding set through Kobelli. Very reasonably priced. Mine was $1100 total. The main stone C is Moissanite and the pave stones, wedding band stones and halo stones are all diamond. It’s set in a 14k white gold. I just love it!!
I never owned a diamond ring and even after marriage we couldn't afford one, we only had a band, after a better financial stability I was searching for a nice weeding set but I have expensive taste but then again I didn't wanted to pay so much for the type of ring desired, so I started leaning towards a gemstone because I didn't wanted to get a CZ or white topaz, until I randomly found moissanite a 1 year ago while googling around, found "The One" at a reasonable price. I wear it almost everyday and barely clean it too and still sparkles. I feel proud we went this route.
After my 3 Carat Diamond fell out of its setting (heart attack and a half, I found it thank goodness) I went moissanite! I designed my own ring and love it so much! It gives me the bling I love and less worry. Your ring is beautiful!
I actually prefer the extra sparkliness of the Moissanite. Now, with lab created diamonds, I could really have either, and I just think the Moissanite is prettier. To me, it’s a stone in its own right and I don’t care if people think it’s a diamond or not. As you said, alternative stones, including colored gemstones, are more common now, and I love them.
I absolutely love my moissanite ring! We decided to go with a 3.5 ct pear shape, lab diamond halo and lab diamonds on the band. The contrast of the moissanite with the diamonds is absolutely stunning! I also filmed a YT video, if anyone is interested in viewing. Happy ring shopping!
It’s hard for me to believe it’s been five years since you made your video about your ring. Thank you for making that video. It definitely changed my perspective.
Many moons ago after having my son I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease which affects my skin. Prior to being diagnosed/treated it got to the point that my skin was reacting to gold, palladium and platinum and I could not wear any jewelry anywhere on my body without extreme skin irritation. My husband found The Aladdins Cave on Etsy and he makes jewelry set in Titanium, gold, and platinum. Due to my skin issues we ordered a Moissanite ring in titanium. My rings still look like new and I never ever take the ring off this includes hands in dough, gardening, bathing, sleeping and not a scratch on the bands or stones. I love my Moissanite rings.
Thank you for this video. It just reinforced how I feel. After 5 years and you’re still rocking it. Amazing!! My son and his girlfriend are getting engaged the end of the month. They both are minimalist and very frugal with their money. I did some research on Moissanites and really like the stone. Especially when I found out where it came from. It’s a stone like any other gem stones. Difference is, it came from the sky, lab diamonds are man made they are real diamonds and earth diamonds came from the earth. I don’t know why some people hating on them. Good quality sometimes doesn’t mean expensive. My son is definitely buying a Moissanite ring.
It’s a beautiful ring. I also had a moissanite ring when i got married. It’s a stone test like diamond more sparkle than diamond I wouldn’t change a thing.
I have a moissanite engagement ring. I’ve had it for a year now and i love it! I soak it in dawn dish soap and scrub it lightly with a q-tip. i polish it with a pandora polishing cloth.

I have a 9x7mm emerald cut moissanite engagement ring from True Gem with 1ct lab created diamonds on the band. I have had it over a year and no issues what so ever. I have no regrets with having a moissanite engagement ring.
I discovered you almost 2 years ago through your moissanite videos and watching them helped me decide to go with moissanite! I eventually upgraded to a pink diamond though since moissanite doesn't come in a permanent pink color. I still love my moissanite and will wear it as a travel ring 😍
I'm 54, I got married last year, and I chose to do the exact same thing! I have a Moissanite center stone w/natural diamonds around it, and a natural diamond wedding band to match. I love it!! I also bought mine on Etsy! Yours is beautiful too. I just found your channel today :-) New subbie.
That's a great idea to combine moissanite with diamonds. I have a 2ct solitaire my hubby bought me and I purchased a moissanite band to layer it with plus a solid band. I love to stack my rings
Found you through your Mejuri videos. Love this update video. More people should get moissanite. I love mine so much! I was able to get a 8 carat radiant moissanite and I have no regrets.
Thank you so much for this! There aren’t many videos that show the lasting results of a moissanite ring after 5 years or more. I love diamonds and what they “represent” but at the same time, I love a good deal that doesn’t compromise the quality. And it is increasing in popularity. Can you share what size ring you have as well??
I got engaged in 2019 and still to this day, I love it. I also still get comments about how nice it is. My parents and my hubs parents initially were shocked that he didn't go with a diamond as that is what they preferred. I can't wear it right now cause being pregnant actually made the somewhat previously loose ring tight, and I look forward to wearing it again later on.
Love this review! I have a 1.24 oval moissanite solitaire set on a thin yellow gold band for 8 months now and it's still as sparkly as ever. saved a ton which we used for bigger expenses. :)
My fiancé also gave me moissanite engagement ring. He know I am not so fond of Jewelries that much plus I always not wore them when I am home since I am always cleaning 😂😂😂 I only wore them when we go out. I love my ring. He proposed to me last 2022 and its 2 years later still looks good ( just need regular cleaning)❤❤
Sounds like you made a wise choice, and it still looks beautiful. After debating between options, I went for a lab diamond, and I love that we can enjoy nice jewelry without breaking the bank.
Had no idea you had a moissanite. A 2ct equivalent oval cut is exactly what I'm wanting too! Loved all the up close shots and seeing it with your unique band.
For me, I just HAD to have moissanite because it’s so darn sparkly!!! I wanted to have the sparkliest stone I could get but we are most definitely a couple on a budget, so an outrageously expensive diamond is no an option😂 nor do I think that makes any sense when you could just get the moissanite lol

Beautiful ring. But that wedding band really pulls the whole thing together. The contrast of the large stone sitting high on the thin band of the engagement ring sitting next to a thick wedding band with clusters of diamonds really makes the whole thing look really balanced.

I’ve always loved oval, but my friend told me round is better and looks more like a diamond in moissanite. Is that true? How does your ring look next to a diamond? Honestly after watching this, seeing the rainbow and shine, made me want this more like what I truly want haha. Love this video thank you!
I previously bought a cheaper version of the “ moissanite” advertised on instagram, it was a Cubic Zirconia, waste of money! After your review I went to Rosadosbox (which it’s actually a jewelry store called Love & Promise Jewelers in Chicago) their service was spectacular and I love my ring! They sent me updates on when the ring was ready, with pictures of every side and let me know when it shipped. Laura, was in communication every step of the way! 5 stars from me! Mine is a 2.5 C equivalent oval, forever 1 on white gold. Thank you thank you thank you for your recommendation ❤️
I promised myself I wouldn't procrastinate while studying so I can finish early and then I saw this video... 😅😂. I got married in 2018 and still only have a wedding band because I don't feel diamond's are worth the money, I could never see myself spending $20k on a ring bc I want a 2ct+ in size. So I've been researching moissanite for literally years but never gave in because I wasn't sure I believed it would hold up. So when I saw this 5 year review and you still love it I feel confident that I should just order my moissanite ring already. Now, cushion cut or oval?! lol
Hey i really appreciate this video im really scared to buy a mossinite ring i just cant afford a decent sized diamond ring on like 1 carot is like 2k for a basic ring but you can get a a moosinite ring that looks fantastic for way less.
Do the prongs hold up ok? Do you ever take it into a jewler to make sure those are ok? Just wondering ive had prongs break on rings. Your ring is so gorgeous
Great update! I've been looking at them recently. Love the affordable option & I think spending the money on other things is great :) You have a beautiful real stone set in real gold. It is a beautiful ring. There's no need for young couples to go into debt and/or spend precious money that could go towards a home or other things. I've been married almost 20 years and barely wear my real diamond rings. I've found that simple bands are so easy for daily life. I put on diamonds for special occasions. That's why I'm looking into moissanite because I want a statement piece w/o the price b/c I know I won't wear it much. But I want something of quality. This fits the bill. I'll check out your link. Thanks for sharing!!

So good to hear this was helpful :)
Now, cushion cut or oval?! lol
Please please share what nail polish this is? I am obsessed!!!
It's a discontinued OPI shade but this is basically the same shade "Endless Sunner" linked here!! - rstyle.me/+mK96Yl3WGhEgs_aNdwrZjg
@@byCHLOEWEN Thank you so much! :)
any recommendations on online moissanite bridal ring companies?
May I ask exactly where you purchased your engagement and wedding ring ?
They’re linked in the description box!
Love moissanite and I can tell you that diamonds do not hold there value and moissanites look sparklier
this is sooo sooo helpful thank you so much for making this!!
glad to hear!
I have a lab diamond. It’s 1.44 in size and it was 1/3 the cost of a real diamond of that size and quality.
What about insurance? What’s the best way to go to get it fully insured? Seems like all the moissanite jewelers won’t insure them.
Probably home owners insurance. But for $2,000 or less, you really don’t necessarily need insurance
Diamond rings devalue significantly when re-sold, too, especially lab diamonds. The only part that holds value is the gold.
Hey i really appreciate this video im really scared to buy a mossinite ring i just cant afford a decent sized diamond ring on like 1 carot is like 2k for a basic ring but you can get a a moosinite ring that looks fantastic for way less.
Actually, it is a moissanite 😊
I love my moissanites they are so beautiful.
Really beautiful ring!!
Hey! Beautiful ring! Thank your for this video!. Did you get the C&C certificate and life time warranty?
I did not get the warranty, but I don't think it's gonna be an issue. It has really held up well!
FYI- I have all my diamonds set in white gold, with yellow gold band. Jewelers should be able to do that for you.
Do the prongs hold up ok? Do you ever take it into a jewler to make sure those are ok? Just wondering ive had prongs break on rings. Your ring is so gorgeous
No issues with the prongs so far! 5 years in.
Was band from etsy too? If so where same place? Name of band
The band is from Hello Neomie shrsl.com/36q0z
Good to hear this 5 year update.
Such a beautiful moment you have shared 😊❤️
The resale value of a used diamond ring is a lot less than when purchased new unless it is a really large or special color.
Totally agree!
Thank you so much for this video! 💗
Love your jewelry videos! Is your original wedding band that you used in your wedding ceremony still in your collection?
Yes!! It is a David Yurman band & I sometimes wear it stacked with other rings ❤️🥰
Have you found that people frequently ask if your ring is diamond or lab grown? How do you navigate those questions?
I don't think there should be any shame in whichever route people decide to go!
I have a 2carat engagement ring and it was for $24K Leo”s from Kay’s jeweler. 10 yrs ago ..
Super helpful. TY for sharing!
I think moissanite has decrease in value because we now have lab grown diamonds, which is a fraction of the price of natural diamonds
Love the band! Where did you get it?
I've got it linked on the blog post :) bychloewen.com/all-topics//5-years-with-my-moissanite-engagement-ring
Is this a GHI or DEF stone
That ring is freaking gorgeous!!!
