So many people understandably laud Jeff for being able to play the strings, whammy and volume knob at the same time, because it got him in the Hall of Fame twice. But people often forget that he was also the first major rock artist to consistently give female musicians gigs in his group.

@@coinneachmaclellan3121 Yes, as a fan I'm aware of that, but I doubt it surprises many that folk of all forms has had more women. But we were discussing A-list rock and roll, and there, we've seen next to no women. A more suitable example may have been Prince, who had some. And Lenny Kravitz.

Tal Wilkenfeld so young here and so easily fits in the band. Jeff would allow Tal to do some bass solos to wow the audience. She is another one of those women bass players that are awesome. Clapton’s Crossroads Concert. Dee, your enthusiasm for this one was spot on! Go check out two of his many monster albums, Guitar Shop and Who Else? And Yep!!! You pulled the RIGHT one. Saw this live. Beth’s vocal over the top of what Jeff and group laid down, was the most perfect performance of this classic. Tal on bass is a pint size killer, whose played with all the greats. The man, the artist, the legend. R.I.P. Jeff. His genius was always pairing great artists he wanted around him, to play the compositions he knew would let everyone shine. An ear like no other. Thank you for your sensitive reaction and remembrance of the legendary, innovative Jeff Beck. I respect your not wanting to sensationalize his death, but I feel this video was a great celebration of the joy he was able to bring with his playing, both to his audience and with his fellow players. Don't worry about not being able to hear the bass Dee. I have been listening to music for 50 years and also sometimes have to really concentrate to hear the bass player. I read a quote recently, can't remember it exactly, but the gist was that you can't always hear the bass, but you can certainly hear when the bass isn't there. It's all part of the fabric that makes wonderful music. Jeff will certainly be missed. He was so unique and changed up his style regularly. He was one of the foundation players who was there at the beginnings of what we consider rock today. Bless your soul Jeff and thank you for the music and the memories.

I'm 53 and have been playing guitar since I was about 14. I've known about Jeff Beck since that time but at first I couldn't get into his music. I was more interesting in the flashy "guitar gods" like Hendrix, Randy Rhoads (Ozzy) or Jimmy Page (Zeppelin).
A few years later I started studying Jazz and Classical in college and got exposed to a much wider range of music and thankfully I re-discovered Jeff Beck again. I was absolutely blown away by his playing and couldn't understand why I couldn't get into him before.
I think it's because Jeff Beck is a guy who focused much more on the musical aspects of guitar playing and less on the impressive super fast soloing - not that he couldn't do that.
I also think it took a few years of me learning the guitar to understand just how impressive Jeff's tone, dynamics and control were. He controls so many small subtle aspects of each note he plays it really gives him the ability to sing through his guitar. I totally think of Jeff Beck as a guitar player's guitar player. I'm really sad to see him leave us but I'm very happy that we got to have him for such a long productive time. Even in his 70s he was still putting on shows and destroying it on stage.

Chod. Play the studio version of LIVE IN THE DARK. This way Dee can hear Jeff turn her ears inside-out.
And a listen to him with the Yardbirds would be appreciated. R.I.P Jeff Beck.

I had Jeff Beck #6 on my personal best guitarists ever. I just found out he passed away 6 hours ago. My ranking hasn't changed for sympathy. He's a legend.

Giants all!!!! I never thought I would hear Beth Hart being overshadowed but damned if they didn't. And Beth was killing it.

I prefer Beth and Jeff at the Kennedy Honors. The guests appreciation alone let’s you know how good they are. There’s more for her to get into lyrically too.

The playing is amazing, every player at the level where they can just play what they hear. Also the song by Don Nix (who has some great shows of his own) became a standard within a few years of his writing it.

Jeff was influenced by so many sounds, then he heard Les Paul & Mary Fords "How High the Moon" & that's when he said, that's for me! 😊💙🎸
