I have no idea how Ron showed up in my feed and I've never listened to him before, but I miss-clicked a video and suddenly I am here. Best mistake I've made this year so far!
"All of our expression is uniform All of our food is mostly chloroform It's not even a secret It's easily accessible Just like anything on the planet And no one really minds It's just a sign of the times To numb your dime a dozen mind In a world that gave everyone a voice We have no other choice We're all so important Tell me about yourself Tell me about yourself Tell me about yourself I will be forgotten in two generations What will have been my big mark? A couple little tears dangling in the dark An impressive collection of digital remarks An apple falls at the park Where your body lay Deep within the clay It's just another day Where all of the punks are domesticated All of the freaks have gone to bed"
When you hear guys like Joe Walsh and Gene SImmons say rock is dead, I think from their perspective with the end of huge shows and gobs of money from one album, then the statement might be correct. But as an art form, no way. Never. I was at the Flora-Bama a few weeks ago, and there is only country, rock, and blues played there by live bands. 3 stages total. And well, when you see a bunch of college kids dancing to a blues band while a guy gets down on a slide, it pretty much exposes how fake mainstream pop music is today. Not sure who it was, but some pop singer blew her set during a New Years thing in NYC. Just another piece of evidence that all the glam and crapola of the record companies behind you doesn't make you a musician. My theory for the lack of rock bands in pop music today is that with streaming technology, the only way for a major label to make money is to only prop up and promote one face. That way there is only one check to write royalties for. And all the rest of the engineers and musicians that make it happen are paid on a for hire basis only,

Love this video. Proves what I've been saying about the younger generation rejecting mainstream music and that rock will never die.

Not all of the punks are domesticated quite yet, as evidenced by this performance and Mr. Gallo's fine record. www.7thlevelmusic.com/?p=1516
