The #1 rule of surviving a scenario like in They Live is to play dumb at least until you can get a better idea what's going on and put together a decent game plan. Ideally, you don't want them to realize you're on to them until it's too late for them to do anything about you.
Riffing a movie that was riffing us...brilliant! John Carpenter's sense of humor (as well as yours🙂) is all over this thing!
Patience would've served him well after getting the glasses. You don't tip them off that you're "one who can see," you play dumb at least until you can get a better idea of what's going on and come up with a decent game plan. You let them think you're still under their spell until it's too late for them to do anything about you.

And one of the greatest fighting scenes in cinema history was the fight scene between Keith David and Roddy Piper.
I feel like the fight between Peter Griffin and the chicken was inspired by that scene, lol. Everytime you think it's over, it isn't over.

If they put it as a philosophical film, this could've been one of the best films ever made! I loved the concept when I watched it.
This movie still holds up today. Best Carpenter movie. Best wrestler movie. Simple yet deep. Classic!

I believe the fight scene was inspired by the movie The Quiet Man, which also had a long fight scene where John Wayne & Victor McLaglen fight throughout the village for a similar amount of time.

People keep talking it should be remade but honestly aside from the media that's the most prevalent being newspapers and magazines I think it's still as valid then as now.

I never connected the teleport shown here with the one on Space Quest. It makes sense though, it sure isn't how it works in any other scifi I've seen.
One look at Meg Foster's weirdly blue eyes, how can you not think she's an alien instead of a collaborator, at least to me.

this movie is good ol' fashioned paranoia...on keith david,'s name I have the same problem with thayer david....turns out, his real name WAS david thayer, but his father hated the idea of him being an actor and threatened to sue him if he used his real name, so to spite him, he flipped his name!
