I love Hollow Man. It was something new, fresh, unique, inventive, stylish, cool, edgy, hip, and updated such as the concept and themes. The story, performances, music, and special effects was outstanding and incredible. Kevin Bacon did a phenomenal and spectacular job portraying Sebastian Caine as he put tons of emotion and depth into his role. A brilliant yet arrogant scientist that has hunger for power and once he has that power it takes a really dark and sinister turn as he is tempted to use it for evil intentions. To this day I still watch it and I consider it a classic. It never gets old. 😍💯👍😎
I read that plants make up a higher percentage of their diets than most other apes, to the point that their digestive system is specialized more for processing leaves, but you're right, they will absolutely enjoy insects or other small animals if that's what's available.
@@MatthewRatburg They do eat rodents, as well as lizards, when they get access. Compared to leaves, those things are just way too nutritious to ignore. Leaves are a horrible food. Technically they're not even food, they're just feed for the bacteria that gorillas farm inside of their bodies. Gorillas have to spend literally half their lives (and almost all of their waking hours) eating leaves, and nearly a quarter of the energy provided is wasted on just digestion. Humans were able to become smart by eating animals, which enabled them to move energy expenditures from their gut to their brains.
Well done on this review. I am at the point where I cannot eat while watching these, lest I accidentally choke or have liquid come out of my nose due to all the laughter. Your commentary along with some creatively placed clips from other films was just perfect. So looking forward to the next one.
Man, going back thru all your reviews in 2024. You have the greatest catalog of hidden gems and under appreciated movies of all the review channels! Great work sir!!!
I watched this in theaters. They may have cut down the rape scene but it was still clear what happened and it was terrifying. Great review with smart and funny insights. BTW Kevin’s Bacon returned to screen in the film Wild Things.
This review was hilarious! Also, I LOVE Hollow Man. A Sci-fi Slasher film with great acting and impressive special effects. Not perfect, but sooo damn good and fun.
@@Jeffrey314159 Maybe.. Alien has a more "Survival Horror" approach to it, actually. No wonder it is a huge influence on "Resident Evil". Honestly, when a horror movie blends Slasher and Survival Horror together, I go crazy. That's a perfect match! One of the reasons I love "Scream" so much.
This is so cool. The Invisible Man is a interesting movie for it's special effects and the emotions that come from being invisible for long in the characters are good. This movie came out a year after Kevin Bacon's "Stir of Echoes" and I hope you'll review that movie someday. Great review and humor Bee Man, you rock.
I love this review and I started laugh crying 😂when you added the home alone 2 bit where marv is electrocuted and I love how you added I’m the invisible man lol and this is my favorite invisible man movie and I admit it’s rating is a 3 bees 🐝 so good rate and great work on the edits I enjoyed it 😊👍❤️
One thing not brought up is that the main couple hide the fact that the human test is not approved from the rest of the team making them unknowingly complicit in the experiment, Then everyone but the couple die horribly, i would have preferred a deep blue sea rewrite where those two die for their sins while some of the team who were effectively innocent survive instead.
Speaking of Starship Troopers, you should consider reviewing Terra Formars (2016 live action one). Very weird Japanese movie! I love your humor and reviews!
Haha damn, Newbee was in rare form in this one. “Shock the Monkey” got me good in spite of my inner semantics-dick. Then the 🥓 Bacon… and the invisible figure. Then the inversion of the “I’m the (in)visible man” when he starts re-appearing, lol.
My least favorite song ever is like the theme song for this movie. It's called "Invisible" by Clay Aiken. Here are some of the lyrics: "If I was invisible (invisible, invisible, invisible) Then I could just watch you in your room If I was invisible, I'd make you mine tonight" Could a song GET more creepy?
So didn't read the title when I first clicked. Listen to the entire intro and was like oh he's going to do the invisible Man everybody's reviewing that movie right now. 10 seconds later Kevin Bacon f*** yes hollow Man!!!!
Newbee, you're one of my new favorite youtubers! So consistent in uploads of cool movies, both well known and underground! Happy valentines day, I hope your channel grows to millions!
I used to love this movie but you made me laugh literally out loud when you pointed out the absurdity.. "They keep he weirdest stuff in the freezer" HAAHAHA I had never noticed how ridiculous that was
Another fantastic review. I really love your channel. I've probably mentioned "Liquid Sky" in another comment on your channel but, seriously, I would love to see you review it. There are so many moments in that movie where you just have to stop and make sure it isn't some fevered nightmare you're having..... Give it a look. As always, I look forward to your next review. 🙂
Thanks for the review. I remembered watching this movie in theater. It was a dollar fail. I didn't like this movie. Maybe because for me Kevin Bacon was the good guy... I love Verhoeven movies but not this one. Maybe I could watch it again with a fresh eye... Bur with Verhoeven, there is always a message, a criticism, and maybe I missed it here or there was no message? 😊
In my opinion Sebastian is a complex character. It makes the audience feel sorry for him and want him to win such as getting a chance of happiness in life as he was dealing with heartbreak of the end of his relationship with Linda as she left him for Matt due to his personality as he wasn't their for her, was quarantined in the laboratory due to his condition of being completely invisible due to the invisibility serum as he wanted to do human testing as he was constantly put under needle's, experiments, and radiation tests to bring him fully back to normal but to no avail as the more he stays in isolation the slowly he descends into madness, doesn't get no recognition and credibility at all, and they're we're going to give him up to the committee but at the same time we want him to die because he had a horrible personality such as being cocky, arrogant, and narcissistic as he was always joking he was god towards his teammates, sexually assaulted a team member, rape his next door neighbor, kill a dog, and kill innocent people. If Sebastian had a different personality his life would have been better and bright as Linda will still be with him, his teammates will appreciate him, and he will get tons of recognition and credibility.
Why are scientists in movies shown as brilliant until the end of the setup, then turn into morons? None of them. Not. A. Single. One. connected the jolt of electricity to the ability to become visible during the gorilla test?
I want to like this movie more but the sexual creepiness prevents me from enjoying rewatches now. I was a youngin' when it first came out & can't remember what I thought about that aspect back then. Looking back everything was so hypersexualized in the 80s & 90s, I probably didn't even notice
Hey NewBee, what is the purpose of "Riffed" in your titles? Initially I thought they were reuploads from videos that were removed but I realized that all your videos are titled this way now. Maybe I don't understand the term.
I pretty much love this movie even though it could be directed less... cheesy. I mean the screenplay is decent, the actors are well cast, and the vfx are still pretty awesome. But Paul Verhoeven has a persistent penchant for very kitschy visual aesthetics which he usually hides behind "satire" to justify the fault of. In the case of Hallow Man, its cinematography is so generically overlit with no sense of source or dimensionality and the production design is so utterly cheap looking. But one think that is indelible perfection is Jerry Goldsmith's music score.
Overall this movie has great production values: the sets, the props, and the vfx. Only weakness is that it doesn't have that "lived in" or "used" look. Akira Kurasawa called it "maculate reality"
Did you ever wanna try doing a newbee review on twister 1996 that would be a funny fun kind of review I’d like to see but if you don’t want to then it’s ok just thought it’d be a good one to rate with the bees
99% of NVGs don't work on thermal infrared. They are usually a combination of an IR illuminator and image intensifier. You'd have to equip your troops with those thermal cameras that firefighters use to locate hotspots.
I enjoyed this movie up until around the halfway point because I thought Sebastian was an interesting character and was wasted on such a (excuse the pun) hollow film.
I love this movie. I love Elizabeth Shue , she’s an awkward heroine. It’s a great movie to disappear into once in awhile. The part 2 was lame. They should have done better. Great review!!

"Aren't Gorillas vegetarian?" I know its probably a joke, but all primates are omnivores.
Chimpanzees are cannibalistic
Most species are opportunistic carnivores even benign things like deers or cows

I doubt they go out of their way to eat rats like that. A chimp I can see doing that, but not gorillas
