This was my very first SLR camera, in about '65 or '66. Thanks for the nostalgia trip.

Great to see it brought back some fond memories.
If I made even a single person a bit happier for a few minutes, then the video was worth it.

You should only turn shutter speed dial clockwise on the old cameeras. Also to rewind film you have to push in release button next to wind lever before using rewind crank. Seen quite a few first time film users tearing their film for not pressing this button.

Manufactured by Pentacon not KW. Last camera made by KW were earlier Praktica IV.

Do you have to put batteries in this camera? If yes, which ones and where do you put them in? I just bought one and can’t find it anywhere

This particular one requires no batteries at all. Newer models like the MTL-50 (shown at 06:43 ), or the VLC series need batteries, and their battery compartments are at the bottom of the camera body.

my grandad recently gave me this camera! so does the iso/asa automatically adjust? as there is no way to change it..

      Hi!
ISO/ASA is a characteristic of the specific type of film you've put into the camera. It cannot be changed on the fly like on digital SLRs. There are plenty of great videos that explain all the concepts you need to understand to use these analogue cameras.
Here's a good explanation of film ISO: ruclips.net/video/SSJosqg6wA4/видео.html
and of aperature and shutter control: ruclips.net/video/zHUjn8ttQRM/видео.html
Now, this Praktica is a rather old piece of kit and it does not have an internal lightmeter which makes it trickier to use than more modern SLRs. Thankfully you can get lightmeters for peanuts, or you can apply the "Sunny 16" rule. Ask your grandfather about this stuff too! I'm sure he still remembers some of it, and it makes for good conversation.
      Good luck and have fun!

Hi, you search for the "Sunny 16 - Rule" to make photos without a lightmeter :-) The standard setting you can take is with daylight and not fast moving objects Setting : aperture on the objective : 8 and shutter-speed 125... That´s the point you can go up and down because of the light, sharpness in the front or back, slow or fast objects... greetings and everytime nice pictures from germany Tobias😉😊
