    AX50 runs hot thanks to its poor case design preventing passive heat ventilation. When you are barely able to keep your hand on the router, it is not typical - it was typical for older Asus routers, but they lasted 2-3 years max. It starts to be pretty unreliable after about a year when the dust gets in and when the thermal pads start to degrade - restarts and dropped connections. Also the power consumption is awful with AX50 (12-15W with about 5 devices connected). Intel chip in AX50 is really powerful, but that is the only good thing you can say about it. AX10 and AX20 are fine tho, they just reused the same case for AX50 with double to triple power consumption and heat output. AX20 is good for most people, if you need more, get AX73, which has awesome cooling design and has better performance.
    EDIT: I just connected Archer AX73. Much better signal strength - medium transmit power is basically the same as high in AX50 and the power draw is 6W, which is less than half of the AX50.

    Can you review the tplink ax21. It’s also 1800 but a newer version. The 1800 in your videos all are the same ax20. Can you compare both please. Also one thing to note is you can get a tplink extender and mesh with any wifi 6 tplink routers except the ax3000(ax50). Onemesh is really good for router to extender because improved speeds and auto band selection when moving through house. Would really help if you can review and test all these functionalities

Laptop status say aeound 600 to 750Mbps, wifi signal drop so I went out get a netgear RAX20 also 1800 they call set it up use so far 2 weeks in no issue but the only thing different is my laptop status say 173.8Mbps and tay there, maybe a few more, do you have any idea why? 0:32 says "none of this units mesh" and then he says they mesh...
    ATt 7:44 he says again it doesnt mesh. but i see in tplink website that it supports onemesh
    i have a precise doubt: i want to buy the AX20 and the RE505x, will they two make the "onemesh" connection and have it all around the house?
    my house is long and i dont want my device to connect to another signal when i go from side to side (like i do now, and have to wait that it disconnects from the further router and connect to the nearest repeater, or viceversa)
    To sum up, will AX20 + RE505x do the "onemesh" thing and i wont have the desconecction-reconection problem?
    thanks!

    What about mesh, 4 core cpu and wpa3 on ax20? Is ax50 still worth at the same price as ax 20?

    • @Quettesh
      @Quettesh 3 года назад

      No, AX50 doesn't support WPA3 and OneMesh yet. They said it will get it, but nobody knows when. If you need more performance, get AX73, or stick to AX20 which is enough for majority home users with 10-20 devices.
      EDIT: I just connected Archer AX73. Much better signal strength - medium transmit power is basically the same as high in AX50 and the power draw is 6W, which is less than half of the AX50.

  • @angrynerd2103

    Iv heard that the ax3000/ax50 has overheating issues. Is that still the case?

    • @Quettesh
      @Quettesh 3 года назад

      Yes, it is more stable with the latest firmware, but it gets worse when the dust gets in - random restarts and dropped connections. It can barely cool it when it is new and the power consumption is another issue - 12-15W with 5 devices connected. My old Archer C6 used 3-4W. Intel chip in AX50 is powerful but also a total garbage in terms of thermals and power consumption. The only way to reliably run the AX50 for more than 2 years is to put a fan on it.
      EDIT: I just connected Archer AX73. Much better signal strength - medium transmit power is basically the same as high in AX50 and the power draw is 6W, which is less than half of the AX50.

    The only differences that I can see are:
    - 3cores vs 4cores
    - 2.4 GHz: (802.11n) vs 2.4 GHz: (802.11ax)

    Personally the extra core doesnt matter to me, so its down to the 2.4 difference.
    How much of a difference will ax vs n for only 2.4 be?
    On my network I have a about a dozen IOT devices on 2.4. They are all kind of old, so im not sure what version of 2.4 they are running. From what I gather, older devices wont take advantage of the newer tech.
    I am pretty cheap, so I dont see myself adding a ton of new devices on this otherwise 2 user network. Ax 1500 and Ax 1800

    Router bueno lastima que tp link perdió su esencia de router en el software ya que es para nada administrador de redes solo funciona como un puente del modem del proveedor con capacidad de más equipos y antes que me digan que no es un puente confirmen donde permite administrar el ancho de banda para cada equipo y que esta se pueda establecer al valor requerido donde permite crear reglas de salida con horarios y por equipo o rango de equipos que estas funciones si están presentes en las anteriores versiones de tplink de su software más antiguo, las nuevas versiones ya no permiten esto en lugar de adicionar mejoras quitan servicios y funcionalidades de un router en conclusión para que funciona un router si no es para administrar su propia Red a su gusto
