  • Unofficial Anthem of the Chuvash ASSR (1950-1991)
    Chuvash: Тӑван Ҫӗршыв
    Russian: О Родина
    English: Oh, motherland
The lyrics and the song are the same of the current anthem of Chuvashia.
The basis of the anthem was the song "Тӑван Ҫӗршыв" (Oh, motherland), written in the mid-20th century by the poet Chuvash Ilya Tuktash and the composer German Lebedev.
The composer created it for Pyotr Osipov's play "In the Native Land", which was staged at the Chuvash Academic Theater in the 1944-1945 season. The first performance was enthusiastically received by the audience. For the first time, the song acquired its status as an unofficial anthem of Chuvashia during a significant event on October 30, 1950. Then the 30th anniversary of ASSR Chuvash was celebrated in the Hall of Columns in Moscow. On this gala night, the Chuvash State Song and Dance Ensemble performed a song accompanied by a symphony orchestra.
The song acquired its official status as an anthem following the adoption on July 1997 by the State Council of the Republic of Chuvashia of the Law "On State Symbols of the Republic of Chuvashia", signed by President of Chuvashia NV Fedorov on 14 July, 1997.
