      Ahh ok, yes sometimes when you add a little too many whole spices they can overpower any dish. I think that's what's happened in this case. Yes, definitely do try it again with the amount I used in the video and it should turn out perfect and apologies for the extremely late response, your message notification just popped up today. 😊

    Thank you so much for this recipe. For 15 years I've struggled with pilau rice until tonight! Not only was your recipe easy to follow, the rice tastes amazing and the best I've ever made them. This will now be my go to chicken pilau recipe. I can't tell you how happy I am. My husband and children polished off their plates which is something they've never done before when I've made pilau! I also got a... they taste as good as your mum's compliment! I've even dished some out to family, again something I've not done before. Hi Shamza! Been meaning to try this for a while, and finally did this evening. It was absolutely delicious! The only thing is I tried to cut corners, and not finish it off in the oven - just turning my stove very low - and some of the rice stuck. Not enough to affect the flavor though. Thank you so much for sharing this with me. May I ask was the chops a little on the thick side? If so they may have needed an extra 10 mins or so cooking time in the yakhni. I always try to get the butcher to cut mine roughly 1- 1.1/2 inch thick peices which is what I used in the video. Try that next time and In sha Allah the meat will be super tender, falling off the bone! 😊

    • @MyLittleKitchenRecipes

      Wsalaam, thank you for your comment. It all depends on peoples portion sizes and also if this is the only dish on the menu. Normally this feeds around 6/8 approx.
      You could add an extra cup of rice to this to bulk it out, so for 4 cups of rice you'd add 5 cups of water to make the rice. Hope that helps.

    • @MyLittleKitchenRecipes
      @MyLittleKitchenRecipes  4 года назад +1

      All depends on how much people eat. This would happily feed 5/6 people with a healthy portion size but if you're feeding 8 people, it's always better to be left with a little more than to run out! I would use 1.5 chicken or you could use 1 whole chicken and add 2 chicken breasts cut into tikka boti size peices (which I normally do as I've fussy kids who like meat off the bone 🙄) which also works well. Yes 5 cups of water to 4 cups of rice. Hope that helps and I hope you enjoy the end product In sha Allah 😊👍

    • @MyLittleKitchenRecipes
      @MyLittleKitchenRecipes  2 года назад

      All depends on portion size. If all 7 people are adults then quite possibly no. Why not add an extra cup of rice to this recipe which should cover it! So: 4mugs or 1kg rice to 5 mugs of water rather than the 4 in the video and increase salt by 1/2 tablespoon whilst keeping all other ingredients the same. Hope that helps.

    On a lesser note. Add less tomato as it can make pelau taste sweet,you don't want to add cumin and other spices before the onions get browned as it does not take longer them to burn, also leave the rice alone in the end no need to keep mixing them till last breath as they will become khichri.
    All these tips are for beginners.

      Very good advice. Its always good to leave the rice alone for a good 10/15 minutes and then to mix it gently. As it is way too hot to mix as soon as you take it off the heat and it will break easily.

    No offense but the rice looks quite mushy, maybe if you dont dry out water completely and just leave a few bubbles then put on dum

    • @MyLittleKitchenRecipes
      @MyLittleKitchenRecipes  4 года назад

      Hi Usmaa, thanks for your comment! No offense taken sweety! 😊The rice wasn't mushy at all, infact I should have zoomed into the pot which I completely forgot to do so you all could see that each grain was separated. Leaving any amount of water before putting the rice on dum will result in very mushy rice! 😊

    Thank you for this. I gave it a shot last night and it was perfect. I gave mine 9 out of 10 because it was enjoyed without raita or a curry on top. It was divine on its own.
    I’m going to enjoy it this morning for breakfast with 2 fried eggs and an awesome cup of tea which as stated before is pure heaven for me.
    So many thanks indeed. I remain your ever indebted and truly grateful student & admirer of your talent. 🌹🌹🌹

    If you use 4 cups of rice with 1 whole chicken, how much salt do you have to put? Could you tell me the measurements of the other ingredients aswel for 4 cups of rice. Thanks.

    • @MyLittleKitchenRecipes
      @MyLittleKitchenRecipes  2 года назад +1

      Hi there, keep all other ingredients the same other than the salt and water that goes in to cook the rice.
      Total salt - 2.5 tablespoons
      Water - 5 mugs
      Let me know how you find the recipe 😊👍

    Love your recipes and your channel. Our family used to do the same re washing meat before cooking however once I started medical school I learned that washing chicken spreads the campylobacter and other harmful bacteria that are present on raw chicken.
    Washing will never remove these bacteria and the splashes of contaminated water land all over your kitchen sink and surrounding area.
    This can lead to serious illness/food poisoning.

    That looks delicious. Out of curiosity does it make a difference if you put the pulao in the oven versus if you leave it on the stove in the lowest heat setting for 15 minutes or so ?

      Hi there 😊
      Thank you! In my opinion yes. The rice will cook even on a hob but I feel that because there is even distribution of heat in an oven, it cooks better and I guess doesn't catch at the bottom, which is sometimes more commonly done on a hob. Hope that helps.

    This should be proper way of cooking biryani if anyone wants to get perfect taste of biryani. In Bangladesh we do in same process except we fry rice in ghee with and onion and garam masala and add required amount of water. Next step add cooked chicken and stir together. After a few minutes when whole mixture is thicken then put the lid on put in very slow gas and they taste super. But in abroad we can put in the oven. Thanks for showing in real way . Cooking them separately and mixing them together is a gulf of taste in biryani cooking . Although basmati rice is very soft if not careful rice gets mashed or broken..

    • @MyLittleKitchenRecipes
      @MyLittleKitchenRecipes  4 года назад

      Hi Catherine, thanks for your comment. Did you rinse the cloth under water and squeeze out the excess water before putting it in the oven? If you didn't do that, then that's the reason why the cloth burnt! You could replace the cloth with foil which works equally well. Hope that helps!
